  • Type of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) can be divided into Analog and Digital Type. Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) of the synchronous generators of the brushless type are to be reduced to the voltage fluctuation on the basis of the total load. The PID control method is a general control technique is commonly widely used. In this study, the control target parameter iPID does not reset the parameters of the controller for the variable (Intelligent PID) using the controller synchronous generator Digital automatic voltage to you like all applied to the adjusting device (AVR) the voltage change is small, improved responsiveness was studied in this controller.

  • Using simple linear prediction algorithm a design procedure of robust PI and PID controllers for SISO system, usually called 'PID predictor controllers, is developed. The design procedure is able to properly adjust gain margin and phase margin and control coefficients are selected in frequency domain. The performance of the PID predictor controller is superior to that of the normal PID controller in terms of robustness in design and disturbance rejection.

  • Robust control for DC motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system with PID controller has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. In this paper, PID-Expert hybrid control method for motor control system as a compensation method solving this problem is presented. If PID control system is stable, the Expert controller is idle. if the error hits the boundary of the constraint, the Expert controller begins operation to force the error back to the constraint set. The disturbance effect decrease remarkably, robust speed control of DC motor using PID-Expert Hybrid controller is demonstrated by the simulation.

  • A digital controller with a low-power approach for point-of-load synchronous buck converters is discussed and compared with its analog counterpart to confirm its feasibility for system integration. The tri-mode digital controller IC in $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process is presented to demonstrate solutions that include a PID, quarter PID, and robust RST compensators. These compensators address the steady-state, stand-by, and transient modes according to the system operating point. An idle-tone free condition for ${\Sigma}-{\Delta}$ DPWM reduces the inherent tone noise under DC-excitation. Compared with that of the traditional approach, this condition generates a quasi-pure modulation signal. Experimental results verify the closed-loop performances and confirm the power-saving mechanism of the proposed controller.

  • The parameters of PID controller should be readjusted whenever system character change. In spite of a rapid development of control theory, this work needs much time and effort of expert. In this paper, to resolve this defect, after the sample of parameters in the changeable limits of system character is obtained, these parametrs are used as desired values of back propagation learning algorithm, also neural network auto tuner for PID controller is proposed by determing the optimum structure of neural network. Simulation results demonstrate that auto-tuning proper to system character can work well.

  • The active magnetic bearing system for a TMP consists of four couples of magnets, five gap sensors with its amplifiers and a digital PID controller. For stabilizing and providing damping, digital PID controller is applied for each control axes and the inter-axis cross feedback controller is also applied to suppress low frequency vibration caused by gyroscopic moment of the rotor. Therefore in this paper, a digital controller of magnetic bearing for a TMP is design and examined.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a microcomputer-based adaptive controller for an electro hydraulic velocity control system subjected to the variation of system parameters. The step response performance of the system with the adaptive controller is investigated for the variation of the external load torque, the moment of inertia and the reference inputs, and compared with that obtained by PID controller whose gains are constant. The experimental results show that this proposed model reference adaptive controller is robust to the variation of system parameters and yield much better control performance compared with the conventionel PID controller.

  • In order to establish the robust controller design technique of series wound motor driver system. This paper proposes a method of Bang-Bang controller using a series wound motor driver system under improperly variable load. A Bang-Bang controller structure is simpler than the structure of PID plus Bang-Bang controller. This paper shows that a general 8 bits microprocessor is used efficiently implementing such an algorithm. The calculation time of software is extremely small when compared with conventional PID plus Bang-Bang controller. Both nonlinear operating characteristics of digital switching elements and describing function methods are used for the analysis and synthesis. Real time implementation of Bang-Bang controller is achieved. Concept design strategy of the control and PWM waveform generation algorithms are presented in the paper.

An Adaptive Speed Control of a Diesel Engine by Means of the On-line Parameter Estimate (디젤기관의 on-line 파라미터 추정에 의한 적응 속도제어)

  • Recently, for the speed control of a diesel engine, some methods using the modern control theory such as LQ control technique, or $\textit{H}_{\infty}$control theory etc., have been reported. However, most of speed controlers of a diesel engine ever developed are still using the PID control algorithm. And, as another approach to the speed control of a diesel engine, the authors proposed already a new method to adjust the parameters of the PID controller by a model matching method. In the previous paper, the authors confirmed that the proposed new method is superior to Ziegler & Nichols's method through the analysis of results of the digital simulations under the assumption that the parameters of a diesel engine are known exactly. But, actually, it is very difficult to find out the value of parameters of a diesel engine accurately. And the parameters of a diesel engine are changigng according to the operating condition of a diesel engine. So, in this paper, a method to estimate the parameters of the PID controller for the speed control of a diesel engine by means of the model matching method are proposed. Also, the digital simulations are carried out in cases either with or without measurement noise. And this paper confirms that the proposed method here is superior to Ziegler & Nichols's method through the analysis of the characteristics of indicial responses.

  • Robust control for DC servo motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system with PID controller has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. As a compensation method solving this problem, in this paper, PID-neural network hybrid control method for motor control system is presented. The output of neural network controller is determined by error and rate of error change occurring in load disturbance. The robust control of DC servo motor using neural network controller is demonstrated by computer simulation.
