Power flow characteristics of a hydro-mechanical transmission system(HMT) are investigated for tracked vehicle in steering. A HMT consisting of two hydrostatic pump motors(HST), several planetary gear trains and steer differential gear is considered. In order to obtain the direction and magnitude of the power flow of the HMT, network theory for the general power transmission is used. Network model for the HMT in steering is developed, which consists of shafts, nodes and transmission elements such as clutch, gear, etc. Power flow analysis procedure consists of two stages : (1) traction force analysis in steering, (2) power flow analysis in HMT. Torque and speed of every transmission element of the HMT is determined from the network analysis. Also, efficiency, mechanical and hydraulic power loss including HST, are obtained. In addition, the regenerative power flow resulting from steering can be studied in graphic display. The power flow analysis program(PCSTEER) developed in this work can be used as a useful design tool for the tracked vehicle with HMT.
Identification of the genes responsible for the recovery of virulence in brain-passaged Acanthamoeba culbertsoni was attempted via mRNA differential display polymerase chain reaction (mRNA DD-PCR) analysis. In order to identify the regulatory changes in transcription of the virulence related genes by the brain passages, mRNA DD-PCR was performed which enabled the display of differentially transcribed mRNAs after the brain passages. Through mRNA DD-PCR analysis. 96 brain-passaged amoeba specific amplicons were observed and were screened to identify the amplicons that failed to amplify in the non-brain-passaged amoeba mRNAs. Out of the 96 brain-passaged amoeba specific amplicons, 12 turned out to be amplified only from the brain-passaged amoeba mRNAs by DNA slot blot hybridization. The clone, A289C, amplified with an arbitrary primer of UBC #289 and the oligo dT$_{11}$-C primer, revealed the highest homology (49.8%) to the amino acid sequences of UPD-galactose lipid transferase of Erwinia amylovora, which is known to act as an important virulence factor. The deduced amino acid sequences of an insert DNA in clone A289C were also revealed to be similar to cpsD, which is the essential gene for the expression of type III capsule in group B streptococcus. Upregulated expression of clone A289C was verified by RNA slot blot hybridization. Similar hydrophobicity values were also observed between A289C (at residues 47-66) and the AmsG gene of E. amylovora (at residues 286-305: transmembrane domains). This result suggested that the insert of clone A289C might play the same function as galactosyl transferase controlled by the AmsG gene in E. amylovora.a.
The difrrrenlial display reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (DDRT-PCR) aniilysis roils performed to identify the pathogellir strain specific amplicons. mRNAs were purified from the trophozoites of the pathogenif strain YS-27 and the non-pathogenic strain S 16. respectively. Three kinds of rirsl stranded rDNAs were reverse transcribed from the mRNAs by one base anchored oligo-dT 11M (M: A. C, or G) primers. Each cDNA lemplatr was used for DDRT-PCK analysis. A total of 144 pathogenic strain specific amplicons was observed in DDRT-PCR analysis using primer combinations of the 11 arbitrary primers and the 3 one base anchored oli해-dT11M primers. Of these 31 amplit'tons were verified as the amplirons amplified only from the mRNAs of the pathogenic strain by DNA slots biol llybridizatioil. Furthel cklaracleization of the 31 pathogenic strain sprcifil amplicons by DNA slot blot hybridlnation analysis using biotin labeled Probes or the PCR amplified DNA of rysteine proteinase genes revealed that 21 of them were amplliried from the maNAs of the cysteine proteinase genes. Four randomly selected amplirons out of the rest 10 amplirons were used fur screening of cDNA library followed by immunoscreening and all of them were turned outs to be amplified from the mRNA.
This study was aimed for identification of a useful genetic resources from the entomopathogenic bacteria infected-midgut of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. We analyzed the appropriately midgut-immunizing condition of $4^{th}$ instar larvae by a feeding infection using several entomopathogenic bacteria. Xenorhabdus nematophila was selected as a suitable bacteria for midgut immunization of Jam 123, B. mori. We constructed a subtraction cDNA library from the mRNA of the immunized midgut, respectively. A total of 1,000 clones were randomly selected from the subtracted cDNA library, and then performed a differential display hybridization analysis with forward and reverse probes. In conclusion, nine clones were identified as differential expressed genes, which presumed that these genes were involved in gut immunity of silkworm. The total number of clones analyzed in this work is not enough to have a brief overview of a understanding on the midgut immunity factors of silkworm. Therefore, further defined studies on these molecules biological roles will give us well-fined information about the innate immune mechanism of silkworm.

In this study, novel Eu2O3-BaF2-La2O3-B2O3 oxyfluoride glasses and glass ceramics were developed by a containerless processing. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) analysis was performed to analyze the thermophysical properties of oxyfluoride glasses doped with Eu2O3, and photoluminescence (PL) characteristics were analyzed to evaluate the luminous efficiency depending on the degree of crystallinity. The glass transition temperature decreased with increasing BaF2 concentration since BaF2 acts as a network modifier in this glass system. In addition, thermal stability which can be estimated by the difference between the glass transition temperature and the onset temperature of the crystallization decreased with increasing BaF2 contents. The peak related to the BaF2 crystal was confirmed after the crystallization by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. Photoluminescence intensity increased after the crystallization which indicates that the Eu3+ ions are sited in BaF2 crystal. La 3d5/2 x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and F1s XPS spectra were analyzed to precisely understand the behavior of the fluorine ion in the glass structure. Fluorine tends to bond with the network modifying cations such as La3+ and Ba2+ ions and after the crystallization the La-F bonds decreased because F- ions used to form BaF2 crystals.
In the present study, for first time the size dependent vibration behavior of a rotating functionally graded (FG) Timoshenko nanobeam based on Eringen's nonlocal theory is investigated. It is assumed that the physical and mechanical properties of the FG nanobeam are varying along the thickness based on a power law equation. The governing equations are determined using Hamilton's principle and the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to obtain the results for cantilever boundary conditions. The accuracy and validity of the results are shown through several numerical examples. In order to display the influence of size effect on first three natural frequencies due to change of some important nanobeam parameters such as material length scale, angular velocity and gradient index of FG material, several diagrams and tables are presented. The results of this article can be used in designing and optimizing elastic and rotary type nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS) like nano-motors and nano-robots including rotating parts.

The anthracene derivatives were synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction. The thermal, optical and electronic properties of MNAn and BIPAn were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), UV-vis absorption, photoluminescen ce spectroscopies, and cyclic voltammetry. The materials exhibit high thermal stability and high per formance in EL devices.

The synthesis and characterization of very stable Pd(Ⅱ) η1-imine complexes of bis(3,4-dialkyloxybenzylidene-3', 4'-dialkyloxyaniline)dichloropalladium(Ⅱ) with alkyl chain of hexyl (8), octyl (9), decyl (10) and dodecyl (11) groups, a nd of bis(4-ethyloxybenzylidene-4'-ethyloxyaniline)dichloropalladium(Ⅱ) as a model complex are described. The molecular structure with twisted board-like geometry of the complex resulting from the coordination of Pd(Ⅱ) with η1-imine bonding was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis of the model complex. In contrast to the imine ligands, all the complexes with an exception of 11 display a thermally stable monotropic smectic A mesophase without any decomposition of the complex. These results, characterized by a combination of differential scanning calorimetry, optical polarized microscopy, and powder X-ray scattering experiments, are discussed.
Onset of female puberty follows a series of prepubertal cellular and molecular events including changes of synaptic plasticity, synthetic and releasing activity and gene expression. Dramatic increase of gonadal steroid level is one of the most prominent changes before the onset of puberty. Based on the importance of steroid feedback upon the hypothalamus, we adopted an estrogen sterilized rat (ESR) model where 100 ng of 17$\eta$-estradiol were administered into neonatal pubs for 7 days after birth. To identify genes involved in the onset of female puberty, we applied PCR differential display using RNA samples derived from ESR and control rat hypothalami. About 100 out of more than 1000 RNA species examined displayed differential expression patterns between a 60-day old control rat and ESR. Sequence analysis of differentially amplified PCR products showed homology with genes such as mouse kinesin superfamily-associated protein 3 (KAP3) and several cDNAs previously described by others in mouse and human tissues. Several gene products such as 2-1 and 8-1 corresponded to novel DNA sequences. We analyzed mRNA levels of KAP3, 2-1 and 8-1 genes in the hypothalami derived from neonatal, 6-, 28-, 31-, and 40-day old rats. Northern blot analysis showed that mRNAs of KAP3, 2-1 and 8-1 genes were markedly increased before the initiation of puberty. Neonatal treatment of estrogen clearly inhibited prepubertal increases in KAP3, 2-1 and 8-1 mRNA levels. Therefore, these genes may play important roles in the initiation of hypothalamic puberty. In addition, intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of antisense KAP3 oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) clearly delayed puberty initiation determined by vaginal opening, which further confirmed that KAP3 plays an important role in the regulation of puberty initiation.

Tooth development involves bud, cap, bell and hard tissue formation stages, each of which is tightly controlled by regulatory molecules. The aim of this study was to identify genes that are differentially expressed during dental hard tissue differentiation. Sprague-Dawley rats at postnatal days 3, 6 and 9 were used in the analysis. Differential display RT-PCR (DD-PCR) was used to screen differentially expressed genes between the 2nd (root formation stage, during mineralization) and 3rd (cap stage, before mineralization) molar germs at postnatal day 9. The DNA detected in the 2nd molar germs showed homology to osteonectin only (GenBank accession no. NM_012656.1). The level of osteonectin mRNA expression was much higher in the 2nd molar germs than in the 3rd molar germs and was found to increase in a time-dependent manner from the early bell stage to the root formation stage in the 2nd molar germs. The pattern of osteonectin protein expression was consistent with these RT-PCR results. Osteonectin protein was found by immunofluorescent analysis to localize in odontoblasts and preodontoblasts rather than the dentin matrix itself. Further studies are needed to validate the involvement of osteonectin in mineralization and root formation.
