  • The so-called overapplication of Coda Neutralization in Korean, the occurrence of a neutralized consonant in a non-neutralizing environment, is often considered as evidence for serial derivation. In this paper I propose that the neutralization effect at surface is not a result of a phonological process at an intermediate level in serial derivation, but due to a constraint requiring the integrity of the morphological constituent: EDGE-INTEGRITY. It is argued that this is not reducible to an alignment constraint, but a genuine faithfulness constraint on the edge of a morphological constituent. The putative opacity related with the coda neutralization is shown to be an epiphenomenon arising from the ambisyllabic representation of a consonant at a morphological juncture, satisfying both EDGE-INTEGRITY arid Syllabic Conditions. Consonant Copy in the Jeju dialect provides further evidence for EDGE-INTEGRITY, the Only difference being that the conflict between Syllabic Conditions and EDGE-INTEGRITY is resolved by insertion of a copied consonant.

  • Video object segmentation is an important component for object-based video coding scheme such as MPEG-4. In this paper, a robust algorithm for segmentation of moving objects in video sequences and VOP(Video Object Planes) extraction is presented. The points of this paper are detection, of an accurate object boundary by associating moving object edge with spatial object edge and generation of VOP. The algorithm begins with the difference between two successive frames. And after extracting difference image, the accurate moving object edge is produced by using the Canny algorithm and morphological operation. To enhance extracting performance, we app]y the morphological operation to extract more accurate VOP. To be specific, we apply morphological erosion operation to detect only accurate object edges. And moving object edges between two images are generated by adjusting the size of the edges. This paper presents a robust algorithm implementation for fast moving object detection by extracting accurate object boundaries in video sequences.

  • Edge representing the boundary between two regions with the large brightness difference in image includes diverse information about object. Therefore, this information has been utilized in fields such as image segmentation and object recognition. There are many kinds of edge in according to duration time and the amplitude of brightness variation, and edge is generally detected through the differential. Recently, in fields of image processing and computer vision, edge detection methods have been proposed to use in specific applications. Hence, in this paper the wavelet function for improved edge detection properties was proposed and detected line-edge components of images and its performance was proven through simulations.

  • This paper proposes a new edge detection method using a $3{\times}3$ ideal binary pattern and lookup table (LUT) for the mobile robot localization without any parameter adjustments. We take the mean of the pixels within the $3{\times}3$ block as a threshold by which the pixels are divided into two groups. The edge magnitude and orientation are calculated by taking the difference of average intensities of the two groups and by searching directional code in the LUT, respectively. And also the input image is not only partitioned into multiple groups according to their intensity similarities by the histogram, but also the threshold of each group is determined by fuzzy reasoning automatically. Finally, the edges are determined through non-maximum suppression using edge confidence measure and edge linking. Applying this edge detection method to the mobile robot localization using projective invariance of the cross ratio. we demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method to the illumination changes in a corridor environment.

  • Two edge detection methods are devised and tested. First one makes use of mean-difference between two connected regions after bimodal thresholding within a local window. It appears experimentally to provide reduced edge width maintaining good connectivity. It seems due to the use of the threshold obtained from a larger neighborhood. Second one uses additionally the gradient information to detect approximate zero crossing points of second directional derivative. This provides edges thinned nearly to one pixel width.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive thresholding for edge detection. first, we got histograms for background image and image with moving object, respectively. Then we make difference histogram between histograms of background and object image. A thresholding value is decided using gradient of peak to peak in the difference histogram. The experimentation is processed using a moving car in the road. The result is that edge is detected well regardless of the brightness.

  • Exact histogram specification (EHS) transforms the histogram of an input image into the specified histogram. In the conventional EHS techniques, the pixels are first sorted according to their graylevels, and the pixels that have the same graylevel are further differentiated according to the local average of the pixel values and the edge strength. The strictly ordered pixels are then mapped to the desired histogram. However, since the conventional sorting method is inherently dependent on the initial graylevel-based sorting, the contrast enhancement capability of the conventional EHS algorithms is restricted. We propose a modified EHS algorithm considering the just noticeable difference. In the proposed algorithm, the edge pixels are pre-processed such that the output edge pixels obtained by the modified EHS can result in the local contrast enhancement. Moreover, we introduce a new sorting method for the pixels that have the same graylevel. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better image enhancement performance compared to the conventional EHS algorithms.

  • This paper for real time object tracking in this treatise detect histogram analysis that is accumulation value of binary conversion density and edge information and body that move by real time use of difference Image techniques and proposed method to object tracking. Firstly, we extract edge that can reduce quantity of data keeping information about form of input image in object detection. Object is extracted by performing difference image and binarization in edge image. Area of detected object is determined by threshold value that divide sum of horizontal accumulation value about binary conversion density by value that add horizontalityㆍverticality maximum accumulation value. Object is tracked by comparing similarity with object that is detected in previous frame and present frame. As experiment result, proposed algorithm could improve the object detection speed, and could track object by real time and could track local movement.

  • This paper presents a scalable coding method for depth images by considering the quality of synthesized images in virtual views. First, we design a new edge detection algorithm that is based on calculating the depth difference between two neighboring pixels within the depth map. By choosing different thresholds, this algorithm generates a scalable bit stream that puts larger depth differences in front, followed by smaller depth differences. A scalable scheme is also designed for coding depth pixels through a layered sampling structure. At the receiver side, the full-resolution depth image is reconstructed from the received bits by solving a partial-differential-equation (PDE). Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the rate-distortion performance of synthesized images at virtual views and achieves better visual quality.
