A Hystesis Loop Modeling of Ferroelectric Thin Film Using Numerical Integration Method (수치적분을 이용한 강유전체의 이력곡선 모델링)

  • In this study, we suggested the model to precisely evaluate the ferroelectric hysteresis loop, using the modified Sawyer-Tower circuit and the ferroelectric capacitor with a MDFM(Metal-Dielectric-ferroelectric-Metal) structure. The mathematical expression of dipole polarization is applied to the numerical integration algorithm, and the fatigue property can be considered including the dielectric layer between ferroelectrics and bottom electrode. The validity of our model is proved comparing the estimated value of our model and the measured results of PLT(10) thin film.

  • We investigated electric and dielectric properties of MIM device using Maleate Copolymer LB films. The thickness of maleate copolymer LB film by ellipsometry measurements and X-ray diffraction pattern was about 27~30[ ]. The maleate copolymer 13 film have the property of insulator like organic ultra-thin film. The electric conduction was Schottky current measured by I-V characteristics, and the conductivity was 10$^{-15}$ ~10$^{-14}$ [S/cm]. Dielectric constant was about 5.0~6.0 by various measurement: I-V, frequency-depenent dielectric properties. Schottky barrier was about 0.9 ~1.0(eV). By relation between log I and 1/T, activation energy baa 0.74(eV). Frequency-depenent dielectric properties wart orientational polarization by the dipole.

Correlation between the Thickness and Variation of Dielectric Conatant on SiOC thin film (SiOC 박막에서 박막의 두께와 유전율의 변화)

  • The SiOC films were deposited with the variation of flow rate ratios by chemical vapor deposition. It was researched the reason of decreasing the dielectric constant in SiOC film and the relationship between the dielectric constant and the thickness. The thickness of the deposited films tends to in proportion to the refractive index and the sample with the lowest dielectric constant decreased the thickness. The refractive index was decreased after annealing because of the decreasing of the film's thickness by annealing process.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate FRP rod for aging, which exposed to salt water and pure at elevated temperature. Dielectric constant and tan .delta. on time and frequency domain were tested to observe how rapidly the FRP rod aged. Dielectric constants of FRP rods with treating time were slightly increased. That of FRP rods with frequency, However, showed strongly the effects of large relaxation time estimated from interfacial polarization a or ionic. It is obvious that absorbed water affects to dielectric and electric properties of FRP with increasing the treating time.

  • Dielectric materials with inherently high power densities and fast discharge rates are particularly suitable for pulsed power capacitors. The ongoing multifaceted efforts on developing these capacitors are focused on improving their energy density and storage efficiency, as well as ensuring their reliable operation over long periods, including under harsh environments. This review article summarizes the studies that have been conducted to date on the development of high-performance dielectric ceramics for employment in pulsed power capacitors. The energy storage characteristics of various lead-based and lead-free ceramics belonging to linear and nonlinear dielectrics are discussed. Various strategies such as mechanical confinement, self-confinement, core-shell structuring, glass incorporation, chemical modifications, and special sintering routes have been adopted to tailor the electrical properties and energy storage performances of dielectric ceramics. In addition, this review article highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with the development of pulsed power capacitors.

  • Dielectric ceramic capacitors present high output power density due to the fast energy charge and discharge nature of dielectric polarization. By forming dense ceramic films with nano-grains through the Aerosol Deposition (AD) process, dielectric ceramic capacitors can have high dielectric breakdown strength, high energy storage density, and leading to high power density. Dielectric capacitors fabricated by AD process are expected to meet the increasing demand in applications that require not only high energy density but also high power output in a short time. This article reviews the recent progress on the dielectric ceramic capacitors with improved energy storage properties through AD process, including energy storage capacitors based on both leadbased and lead-free dielectric ceramics.

  • The PLZT (x/50/50, x = 1, 2, 5, 7) thin films have been prepared by a sol-gel method using polypropanediol as a solvent, and their dielectric properties have been investigated. The prepared sol was coated 10 times on $Pt/Ti/SiO2_2$/Si wafer. After post-annealing at 560~$600^{\circ}C$ for 10 min, the 600 nm-thick PLZT (x/50/50) thin films were formed with pure perovskite phase. Grain size of the PLZT (x/50/50) thin films was increased with increasing the amount of La. For all the compositions, dielectric properties such as dielectric constant and remnant polarization were enhanced with increasing annealing temperatures. As the amount of La was increased, the remnant polarization, coercive field and dielectric constant of the PLZT (x/50/50) thin films fired at $600^{\circ}C$ were decreased.

Analysis of Electromagnetic Wave Scattering Characteristics of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma (유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마의 전자파 산란 특성 분석)

  • This paper presented measurement results of scattering characteristics of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma at atmospheric pressure. In this paper, plasma actuator is fabricated by parallel connecting of basic configuration of DBD plasma actuator, then plasma could be generated by applying 14 kV, 4 kHz of high voltage generator. In order to measure the scattering characteristics of DBD plasma, in this paper, two horn antennas and vector network analyzer are used to compare the S-parameter. Because of the structure of fabricated plasma generator, different result is obtained as antenna polarization changes. When antenna polarization is parallel to electrodes of plasma generator, the scattered field is reduced by 2 dB in maximum. In addition, for parallel polarization case, PEC is set up behind the plasma generator to measure backward scattered field. When the observation angles are $40^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, the amount of reduced scattered field is 2 dB in maximum at 5 GHz.

  • Sawyer-tower 회로를 이용한 강유전 이력곡선의 측정과정에서의 주요 오차 원인을 살펴보고 이에 대한 대안을 제시해 보았다. 강유전체 시편에 존재하는 직류 누설성분에 의해 잔류분극과 항전계는 과대평가될 수 있는 위험성이 항상 있음을 알 수 있었으며 이러한 오차의 보정에 대하여 논의하였다. 또한 강유전 이력곡선의 측정에서 측정하는 시간이 증가되면서 시편의 발열로 인해서 시편의 온도가 증가하게 되어 잔류분극 값과 항전계 값이 감소하는 경향으로 나타남을 관찰하였고, 그 대책을 제안하였다.

Polarity Effects of Dielectric Anisotropy on Electro-Optical Characteristics of Fringe Field Twisted Nematic Mode

  • We have studied polarity effects of dielectric anisotropy effects on electro-optical characteristics of a twisted nematic mode driven by fringe electric field, which has wide viewing angle characteristics. Our device is designed as normally black mode between parallel polarizers. The perfect polarization conversion of incident light, which passes through a polarizer, is achieved, when it passes through the twisted liquid crystal (LC) layer. If an electric field is applied, the LC molecules with a positive (or negative) dielectric anisotropy rotate parallel (or perpendicular) to the horizontal component of a fringe electric field as increasing transmittance. From the calculated results, enhanced transmittance of the fringe field-twisted nematic (FF-TN) mode with positive dielectric anisotropy of + 8.2 can be obtained.
