반용융 성형공정에 있어서 액상편석제어를 위한 압축 D/B 및 응용 (Compression D/B for Liquid Segregation Control in Semi-Solid Forming Process and Its Application)

  • A relationship between stress and stain is very important to design a die to avoid defects of products during semi-solid forming process. Since the liquid will be of eutectic composition in alloys liquid segregation will result in significant or undesirable situation. The materials used in this experiment are A 357. A390, Al2024 alloys that is fabricated by the electro-magnetic stirring process from Pechiney in France. The compression test was performed by induction heating equipment and MTS. In order to prevent the liquid segregation these measured temperature would be useful to control of strain rate during compression test. The liquid segregation is controlled as change of the strain rate and solid fraction during the compression process, The characteristics of flow between solid and liquid phase considering liquid segregation is examined through the above experiments. In the case of medium and high volume fractions of solid the distribution of strain rate is calculated by using compression test data of semi-solid materials (SSM). The thixoforming experiments with the designed die are carried out successfully. The die filling patterns of SSM for variation of die temperature and pressing force have been investigated. The hardness of the thixoformed scroll products is evaluated in terms of the microstructure for each position.

  • In case of hollow cylinder extrusion using porthole die, the effects of extrusion parameters-temperature, the speed of extrusion, the shape of the die and mandrel-on metal flow in porthole die extrusion of aluminum have been investigated. However, there have been few studies about condenser tube extruded by porthole die. This study was designed to evaluate metal flow, welding pressure, extrusion load, tendency of mandrel deflection according to variation of chamber length. in porthole die. Estimation was carried out using finite element method. Porthole die is analyzed in as non-steady state. Analytical results provide useful information the optimal design of porthole die.

  • In this paper, a general approach to structural analysis of forging die sets is presented and the related design system, AFDEX/DIE, is introduced. Structural analysis of die sets is conducted by the finite element method considering both contact problem and shrink fit. In the approach, amount of shrink fit is controlled by thermal load, i.e., temperature difference between die insert and shrink rings. The loading conditions are extracted automatically from the simulation results obtained by a rigie-thermoviscoplatic finite element method. Typical application examples are given, which show the applicability of the approach and the related program.

  • In order to successfully implement hot die forging process for the large-size titanium alloy products, it is necessary to devise a customized heating method for the billets and the die tools, as well as the die tool design. This study aims at establishing a hot die forging process of the large-size titanium alloy container products by applying the warm die, semi-hot die and hot die forging process step-wise. To accomplish this purpose, forging mechanism and the die tools were designed considering the strength of die materials at the given die heating temperature. The movable heating devices for the billet and the die tools were also introduced to prevent overcooling of billet and die tools. To verify the applicability of the designed forging process, real-size forging tests were carried out and the quality of forged products, including dimension, surface condition, microstructure and the mechanical properties was evaluated.

Effects of Extrusion Conditions on Pasting Properties of Potato

  • An advantage to the extrusion of raw potatoes is a reduction in the energy input required to process potato products; however, the effects of extrusion on the properties of raw potato have not been studied. The purposes of this study were to develop a workable extrusion process for raw potato and to study the effects of extrusion conditions on the pasting properties of extruded potato products. The peak viscosity, final viscosity, pasting temperature, water solubility index, and water absorption index of pressed and pressed-dried potato extrudates decreased as die exit temperature increased, whereas they did not change as screw speed increased. The peak viscosity, final viscosity, and water solubility of steam-cooked potato products decreased with extrusion processing; however, they did not change with increasing die exit temperature and screw speed. Potato products with different degrees of depolymerization of extruded potato starch, depending on die exit temperature, were produced from raw potatoes.

컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용한 고압다이캐스팅 금형의 이형제 분사공정에 따른 금형온도분포 및 금형수명 예측 (A prediction of mold temperature distribution and lifetime with different spray process of mold release agent in high pressure diecasting mold using computer simulation)

  • The temperature distribution and lifetime of molds were predicted by computer simulation analysis with various spraying and blowing process of high pressure die casting. After varying the spraying angle and time, the mold temperature, heat exchange and mold life were predicted. As the spraying angle increases, the maximum temperature of the mold decreases, which is because the spraying area increases and the heat exchange with the mold increases. Heat exchange occurs more actively in the blowing process than in the spraying process. This is because the cooling is not performed due to the steam generation. When the spraying angle is 50 degree, the minimum life of the mold is analyzed 200 times. After adjusting the blowing time from 5s to 3s, the minimum lifetime of the mold has been increased almost twice.

  • In hydrostatic extrusion the billet in the container is extruded through a die with a liquid acting as a pressure medium, instead of by the direct application of the load by a ram. And the extrusion pressure can be affected by the flow stress and they are affected by the temperature. So in this study the temperature is the main issue with a extrusion ratio and a half die angle. As extrusion temperature goes down from $300^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$, tensile strength goes up to 310MPa. Because velocity of extrusion is higher than the conventional extrusion, there is another characteristic in the sense of microstrure. The temperature was sotted to $300^{\circ}C,\;250^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C$, respectively. There is a increase of extrusion pressure abot $15\%$.
