  • Diamond tools with several layers of diamond grits through thickness direction were tested by sawing. The saw blades with evenly distributed grits showed better cutting performance compared to the random distributed saw. At a given concentration of grits, as the spacing between layers was increased, the cutting performance was improved, and as decreased, it showed more tool life

  • Ultra-high brightness and thin displays need to optical micro-patterns which can uniformly diffuse the lights and low loss. The micro random patterns have characteristics to rise the optical efficiency such as light extraction, uniform diffusion. For this reason, various fabrication processes are studied for random patterns. In this study, the micro random patterns were machined by diamond turning which used a controlled cutting tool path with random cutting depth. The machined patterns had random shape and directionality along the circumferential direction. The average width and length of machined random pattern according to rotation radius were 40.13㎛~55.51㎛ and 37.25㎛~59.49㎛, and these results were compared with the designed result. Also, the machining error according to rotation radius in diamond turning using randomly controlled cutting depth was discussed.

  • The optical film for light luminance improvement of BLU that is used in LCD/LED and retro-reflective film is used as luminous sign consist of square and triangular pyramid structure pattern based on V-shape micro prism pattern. In this study, we analyzed machining characteristics of Cu-plated flat mold by shaping with diamond tool. First, cutting conditions were optimizing as V-groove machining for the experiment of micro prism structure mold machining with prism pattern shape, cutting force and roughness. Second, the micro prism structure such as square and triangular pyramid pattern were machined by cross machining method with optimizing cutting conditions. Burr and chip shape were discussed with material properties and machining method.

  • In recent, various shapes of pattern in micron or nano scale are adapted in many applications due to their good mechanical or optical properties. Light guide panel (LGP) of the LCD is one of important applications for micro pattern and micro prism shape is one of the typical patterns. Many applications have the patterns on their surface and the size of the pattern keep decreasing down to the order of micron or even under micron. On the other hand, the area to be patterned keeps enlarging. These two trends in patterned products require tooling micro patterns on large surface, which has still many technical problems to be solved mainly due to pattern size and the tooling area. In this study, we fabricate prism shape of patterns using diamond cutting tool on some metal core and plastic core like PMMA Some of cutting conditions are investigated including cutting force, cutting depth and speed for different core materials.

움직임 방향 치우침 특성을 이용한 십자형 다이아몬드 탐색 (Cross Diamond Search Using Motion Direction Biased Characteristics)

  • 본 논문에서는 MVP 분포의 움직임 방향 치우침 특성을 이용한 방향성 탐색 패턴을 디자인하고, 탐색점의 이동 방향에 따라 탐색 패턴을 적응적으로 변화시키는 방향 적응적 십자형 다이아몬드 탐색 방법을 제안 한다. 제안한 방법은 이웃 매크로 블록으로부터 모션 벡터를 예측하고, 예측한 모션 벡터를 이용하여 초기 움직임 방향을 설정 한다. 탐색 과정에서 BMP의 이동 방향에 따라 제안한 탐색 패턴을 적응적으로 변화시킴으로써 탐색 효율을 향상시킨다. 실험 결과, 제안한 방법 은 움직임 추정에 소요되는 계산량을 기존의 십자형 다이아몬드 탐색에 비해 $0.43%{\sim}1.76%$ 감소시킴으로써 고속 움직임 추정이 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

회전하는 다이아몬드 패턴을 이용한 고속 움직임 추정 기법 (Fast Motion Estimation Technique using Revolved Diamond Search Pattern)

  • 고용량 고화질 동영상의 빠르고 효율적인 전송을 위해 압축은 반드시 필요한 기술이다. 이를 위해 사용되는 움직임 추정 기술은 동영상을 고효율로 압축할 수 있는 가장 중요한 기술의 하나이다. 제안한 방법은 다이아몬드 탐색 기법을 기반으로 하여 개선하였으며 탐색 패턴에 있어서 분할하거나 혹은 회전하는 다이아몬드의 형태를 갖고 있다. 제안한 방법은 특히 카메라의 이동을 따라 방향성을 갖는 움직임이 큰 영상의 경우에 있어 보다 좋은 화질 향상의 결과를 가지며 움직임이 적은 영상의 경우께 있어서는 보다 적은 탐색 점수로 움직임 추정을 가능하게 함으로서 계산량을 상당수 감소시킬 수 있다. 또한 초기 탐색 점수를 달리하여 화질과 속도 면에 있어서의 비교 우위에 따른 임의의 선택을 가능하게 하였다. 실험 결과 제안한 방법은 다이아몬드 탐색 기법(DS), 육각 탐색기법(HEXBS)과 비교하여 더 좋은 화질을 유지하면서 보다 적은 탐색 점수를 갖고 움직임 추정을 할 수 있으며 기존의 알고리즘과 비교하여 영상의 움직임의 적고 많음에 따라 적응적으로 탐색 점수를 줄이거나 늘리면서 보다 우수한 성능으로 탐색을 가능하게 한다.

치과용 다이아몬드 버의 연삭 가공 특성 (Grinding Characteristic of Diamond Burs in Dentistry)

  • This paper aims at reviewing the possibility application over normal or abnormal, detection used by AE and the characteristics of grinding process. In this study, when diamond bur in dentistry with chosen grinding conditions were tuned at grinding. The variation of grinding resistance and AE signal is detected by the use of AE measuring system. The tests are carried out in accordance with diamond burs and workpiece: arcyl and cowteeth. According to the experiment results, the following can be expected; AE has the possibility to detect the state normality and abnormality. However, the grinding resistance measuring can find it difficult to detect it. It can be accurately excepted from AE occurrence pattern in contact start point of diamond but and cowteeth, grinding condition and derailment point. It is known that AErms is well compatible with grinding resistance.

고압하에서 방사광을 이용한 흑연에 대한 연구 (High pressure X-ray diffraction study on a graphite using Synchrotron Radiation)

  • High pressure X-ray diffraction study was carried out on a graphite to investigate its compressibility as well as any possible phase transition to the hexagonal diamond structure at room temperature. Energy dispersive X-ray diffraction method was introduced using a Mao-Bell type diamond anvil cell with Synchrotron Radiation. Polycrystalline sodium chloride was compressed together with graphite for the high pressure determinations. Because of the poor resolution of the X-ray diffraction pattern of graphite, its compressibility was estimated to be almost same as that of NaCl by graphite (002) X-ray diffraction peak only. An observation of any new peak from a possible hexagonal diamond phase seems very unplausible for its definite identification based on the present data. Alternative approaches such as an Wiggler Radiation source as well as a Large Volume high pressure apparatus will be necessary for the detailed studies on a graphite in future.
