  • This study examined and analyzed the women's jeogoris in the Seoul Gwangjang Market and Busan Jin Market. They study explored the items to look into the current state of the Jeogori patterns, as well as investigate the flat pattern jeogoris, including its source and aspects of change. Korean women's body figure has become more westernized, and the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of this change on the traditional jeogoris. We hope to gather valuable data, which can be used to propose a new direction for designing hanbok in the future. The study methods are as follows: First, the types of jeogori patterns were examined. Second, the current state of jeogori patterns in the Seoul Gwangjang market and Jin market in Busan were analyzed to look into how the patterns have transitioned. And lastly, the reason for the origination of the flat pattern jeogori and the type of changes will be examined. Current study results show that two pattern types are being used: the flat composition jeogori and the flat pattern jeogori. Surveys show that more than 90 percent of the jeogoris in the Seoul Gwangjang Market are of the flat composition pattern variety, while more than 90 percent of jeogoris in the Busan Jin Market are of the flat pattern variety. In 1998, western-style dress designers in Busan introduced the flat pattern jeogoris, which were used to get rid of the wrinkles caused by the extra space, into the market after the financial crisis period in Korea, as a way to revitalize the market. This new pattern was popular among tea aficionados and traditional Korean musicians. It was exposed to the public via different mediums, such as TV programs, magazines, and brochures. Busan was the first to be exposed, and then it spread to Seoul. It also seems that the reduction of production cost caused the increase of the flat pattern jeogori.

  • It is thought that a composition of trousers is related to fabrics with single breadth. Therefore, trousers are designed with pattern using this fabrics with single breadth. However, in the old pattern of trousers, the breadth of 33cm-35cm was not considered in designing patterns. In this context, deciding which pattern design is better is not easy as there are a variety of estimation methods. So in this study, standardization of drafting is pursued by an objective pattern design. For this, a base angle of the trouser closely relating to a form and function was measured and using the height and the base angle, a trouser pattern design was tried. For a measurement of the base angle, 5 subject were selected. They are 25-29 year-old male graduates with fine physical standard. The base angle was measured with symphysis pubis point as a standard when subjects sat with their legs crossed, when they stood with their legs open (not forced artificially) and when they laid down with their legs open. The distance between a knee inside joint and knees was measured three times and the resultant value was used for the pattern design. For a design of trousers, the height was applied and the base angle was fixed. As a pattern drawing, using the height, a base angle and circumference of the hip, a trouser was designed. The production method for the pattern design is as follow: (1) The length formula, is height + $\frac{height}{2}$ (2) The hip girth formula is $\frac{hipgirth}{2}$ - $\frac{hipgirth}{20}$(3) A crotch angle is fixed at $72^{\circ}$. (4) The ratio of outer leg length to leg width is 5 : 8. (5) The component ratio of the upper outer leg length to the pant length is 5 : 8. (6) The ratio of the division point of front right inner leg length and left inner width to upper outer leg length is 5 : 8.

  • When electromagnetic wave transmitted from the radar antenna hits the target, a specific type of electric field is formed according to the electrical characteristics and appearance of the target, which is called an RCS pattern. There are various commercial programs that calculate the RCS of the target and plot the RCS pattern. For the analysis of large targets such as warships or ships, a program with a high frequency analysis method, which has a faster calculation speed than the low frequency analysis method is suitable. XGTD, a high-frequency analysis program, can quickly plot a two-dimensional RCS pattern for 360 degrees of a target, but a three-dimensional RCS pattern cannot be obtained. In this paper, it is proposed that a method of plotting two-dimensional RCS patterns of a target from various angles using XGTD, generating a three-dimensional RCS pattern using this, and converting it into a three-dimensional antenna pattern file.

  • This paper presents a new classified vector quantization (VQ) technique using a neural network model in the transform domain. Prior to designing a codebook, the proposed approach extracts class features from a set of images using self-organizing feature map (SOFM) that has the pattern recognition characteristics and the same as VQ objective. Since we extract the class features from the training images unlike previous approaches, the reconstructed image quality is improved. Moreover, exploiting the adaptivity of the neural network model makes our approach be easily applied to designing a new vector quantizer when the processed image characteristics are changed. After the generalized BFOS algorithm allocates the given bits to each class, codebooks of each class are also generated using SOFM for the maximal reconstructed image quality. In experimental results using monochromatic images, we obtained a good visual quality in the reconstructed image. Also, PSNR is comparable to that of other classified VQ technique and is higher than that of JPEG baseline system.

  • In this paper, we consider changes of algebra strands around the world. And we suggest needs of designing new computer environment where we make and manipulate geometric recursive patterns. For this purpose, we first consider relations among symbols, meanings and patterns. And we also consider Logo environment and characterize algebraic features. Then we introduce L-system which is considered as action letters and subgroup of turtle group. There are needs to be improved since there exists some ambiguity between sign and action. Based on needs of improving the previous L-system, we suggest new commands in JavaMAL microworld. So we design a microworld for recursive patterns and consider meanings of letters in new environments. Finally, we consider the method to integrate L-system and other existing microworlds, such as Logo and DGS. Specially, combining Logo and DGS, we consider the movement of such tiles and folding nets by L-system commands. And we discuss possible benefits in this environment.

  • In this paper, we consider the problems of the evolutionary designed neural networks structures by genetic algorithm. Neural networks has been applied to various application fields since back-propagation algorithm was proposed, e.g. function approximation, pattern or character recognition and so on. However, one of difficulties to use the neural networks. It is how to design the structure of the neural network. Researchers and users design networks structures and training parameters such as learning rate and momentum rate and so on, by trial and error based on their experiences. In the case of designing large scales neural networks, it is very hard work for manually design by try and error. For this difficulty, various structural learning algorithms have been proposed. Especially, the technique of using genetic algorithm for networks structures design has been ...

  • This paper gives an overview of the various approaches to designing statistical pattern recognition scheme based on Bayes discrimination rule and the artificial neural networks for rotating machine condition classification. Concerning to Bayes discrimination rule, this paper contains the linear discrimination rule applied to classification into several multivariate normal distributions with common covariance matrices, the quadratic discrimination rule under different covariance matrices. Also we discribes k-nearest neighbor method to directly estimate a posterior probability of each class. Five features are extracted in time domain vibration signals. Employing these five features, statistical pattern classifier and neural networks have been established to detect defects on rotating machine. Four different cases of rotation machine were observed. The effects of k number and neural networks structures on monitoring performance have also been investigated. For the comparison of diagnosis performance of these two method, their recognition success rates are calculated form the test data. The result of experiment which classifies the rotating machine conditions using each method presents that the neural networks shows the highest recognition rate.

  • This study developed basic pattern for competition figure skating wear for school girls. Figure skating wears are difficult for making basic patterns based on standard size chart, because girls' body size are slimmer and more slender compared to the general girl's and the competition wears such as, swim suit with sleeves are, closely in contact with the player's body. The competition wears for school girl was made with consideration of changing of the body shape, physical exercises, and various specificities according to stretch material. To raise artistic effect while doing beautiful motions, and to assist in facile technique motions, competition wears need to have enough ease on the side line from waist to armpit, from armpit to wrist, and in trunk girth including crotch girth. Also, to stand out in beauty, a costume designing has a proper skirt position, length, flare width, and a tight bodice according to the player's body proportion. Most of the customers are displeased at the high price, unfitness of size, insufficient design, and difficulty in access, since they are not sold in sporting goods store. Therefore, a competition wear's basic pattern was made through scientific and emotional process including concerns on material properties, room for activities, and ideal body proportion. Systemizing the basic patterns of production method will solve high repairing expenses, unsuitable sizing, and improve accessibility for purchase.

  • This paper pursues a comparative study on the design and function of the ready-made Bo-Son and the Bo-Son Pattern based on teaching and learning materials. It intends to investigate whether the Bo-Son is designed to suit to Kinetics of foot or to give the ease of wearing and taking off. The following results came out through trial wearing. 1) The Bo-Son pattern suggested in teaching materials can not satisfy the wearers with partial modification due to design problem. On the other hand, the ready-made Bo-Son can satisfy them with partial modification. 2) The important factor in designing the pattern of Bo-Son is the posture of foot when putting on it, that is, the height of the heel of the foot from the floor, the length of the heel, the length of toe and the bending angle of toe. 3) As a result of this study, in the design of the improved Bo-Son pattern, it is most suitable when the size of foot is 230mm, the height of the heel of the foot is 12.5cm, and and angle of the front toe of a sock is 35$^{\circ}C$.
