The purpose of the research was to analyze the characteristics which appeared to the process of designing experiment for pre-service elementary teachers. This study were participated 26 pre-service elementary teachers. The findings indicated that first, the researcher figured out the process elements could constructed in 12 elements such as 'states problem or question, predicts outcome or hypothesizes, lists materials needed, arranges steps in sequential order, lists more than 3 steps, Explore variables and select one or more variables, plans to control variables, plans to measure and observation, plans data collection, plans to repeat testing and tells reason, states plan for interpreting data, states plan for making conclusion based on data, states plan for making conclusion based on data' but did not figure out 2 elements such as 'defines the terms of the experiment, practice safety'. second, the characteristics of pre-service elementary teachers in the process of designing experiment were as follows; pre-service elementary teachers designed experiments unstructured process listed types and showed the superficial level of the design experiment. The results show that the programs of designing experiment activity should be constructed with the process elements which were concentrated by pre-service elementary teachers, should provide feedbacks to design experiment more accurately.

The purpose of this study was to identify whether the elementary school students force conceptions may influence on designing tools experiments. Four questions with multiple choices and reasons for those choices were asked to identify scientific/alternative force conception. Also four tasks for tools experiments matched to each force conceptions were developed into open questions in hypothesizing. controlling variables and methods of experiments. Forty elementary students were selected from 4 classes in sixth grade of a school in Daegu city. The major findings of this study were that the types of force conceptions can be classified into scientific and alternative conceptions. The patterns of designing experiments could be identified with types of hypothesis, controlling variables and methods of experiments in each four tools experiments. But students those who had scientific force conception did not better in hypothesis, methods of controlling variables and results for simple experiment than those who had alternative force conceptions. These results imply that students' force conception did not influence on designing tools experiments. The assumption that scientific conception could improve designing experiments was not guaranteed by this results.
The purpose of the research was to analyze the characteristics and the process elements which appeared to the process of designing experiment for biologists and gifted students in science. Four biologists and thirty-two gifted students were participated in this study. The findings indicated that (a) the researcher figured out the process elements could constructed in fifteen elements such as confirming questions, arrange materials, consideration for experimental subjects, searching variables, eliminating variables, selecting variables, planning operation of variables, planning control environmental variables, planning control biological variables, planning the methods of observation and assessment, planning the methods of collecting data, planning the interpretation of data, planning the repetition of experiments, planning the repetition of assessment, safety regulations as well. The biologists concentrated in the particular process elements related with variables, since the science-gifted students concerned the performance whole process elements themselves without deeper consideration, (b) the characteristics of biologists and science-gifted students in the process of designing experiment were as follows; 1) biologists and students showed the process elements which include the domain specific process skills as well, 2) biologists accurately conducted the designing experiments processes with repetition of specific process, since students designed experiments conventionally, and 3) biologists possessed the domain specific skills and know-how about their experiments, but students did not. The results show that the programs of designing experiment activity should be constructed with the process elements which were concentrated by biologists, should provide feedbacks to design experiment more accurately, and should be developed with concern of the process skills and know-hows of biologists.

In this study, we investigated the thinking processes of 7th grade science-gifted students in designing application experiments and analyzed their performance levels in the categorized processes. The analyses of the results revealed that they considered 'setting a problem situation,' 'deciding a strategy,' 'identifying the assumptions,' 'defining the measurements,' and 'validating the assumptions' in the processes of designing experiments. However, their performance levels of the categorized processes were found to be rather low. It was especially insufficient in setting the situations concretely appropriated to solve the problems and checking their own thinking critically by proper criteria. Therefore, we suggested a potential learning strategy for designing experiments such as replacing difficult and abstract situations to concrete and familiar situations. These results may offer some implications in developing an education program for science-gifted students to foster creativity by emphasizing scientific thinking skills such as experiment design ability.

This study is about designing mobile phone display in consideration of elder people's preferences by reason of their optical weakness. The research is closely connected with designing user-friendly interface by considering user characteristics. The criteria for first experiment are font sizes, font types, line spacing and background colors. With the experiment result, relative importance of each attribute and subjective preference are investigated by conjoint analysis. Secondly, an optimal display design for elder people is presented by response surface method on the basis of the result of conjoint analysis, other statistical analyses, and user interviews.

It reflects well feature of slope that is characteristic of city river basin of Pusan local. Process various hydrological datas and basin details datas which is collected through basin basis data. weather satellite equipment(EMS-DEU) and automatic water level equipment(AWS-DEU) and use as basin input data of ILLUDAS model, SWMM model and HEC-HMS model In order to examine outflow feature of experiment basin and then use in reservoir design of experiment basin through calibration and verification about HEC-HMS model. Inserted design rainfall for 30 years that is design criteria of creek into HEC-HMS model and then calculated design floods according to change aspect of the impermeable rate. Capacity of reservoir was determined on the outflow mass curve. Designed imagination reservoir(volume $54,000m^3$) at last outlet upper stream of experiment basin, after designing reservoir. It could be confirmed that the peak flow was reduced resulting from examining outflow aspect. Designing reservoir must decrease outflow of urban areas.
The purpose of this study was to develop the experiment-based problem for evaluating scientific ability of elementary scientifically gifted students, and to examine its potential of application for them. The problem for evaluating scientific ability was related to the plant vascular structure of 'the structure and function of plants' unit of elementary school science, and consisted of three components such as observing and inferring, designing an experiment, and concluding. In order to apply for scientifically gifted students, scoring criteria were detailed. For the observing and inferring domain, the arrangement and structure of vascular bundles of the dicotyledon and the monocotyledon, xylem position, reason of putting plants in ink were included. Those of designing an experiment domain were method of dissecting stems of plants, and design experimental procedures, those of concluding were the prediction of experimental results, and comparison and verification with prediction and results. Finally, the scientific ability evaluation problem was applied for 22 scientifically gifted students, who had been taught in the Science Education Institute for the Gifted adjacent University, and we had found the potential of utilization for scientifically gifted students.
Vibrotactile feedback is widely used in designing non-visual interactions on mobile phones, such as message notification, non-visual reading, and blind use. In this work, novel vibrotactile codes are presented to implement a non-visual text reading system for mobile phones. The 26 letters of the English alphabet are formed in an index table with four rows and seven columns, and each letter is mapped using the codes of vibrations. Two kinds of vibrotactile codes are designed with the actuator's on and off states and with specific lengths (short and long) assigned to each state. To improve the efficiency of tactile perception and user satisfaction, three user experiments are conducted. The first experiment explores the maximum number of continuous vibrations and minimum vibration time of the actuator's on and off states that the human can perceive. The second experiment determines the minimum interval between continuous vibrations. The vibrotactile reading system is designed and evaluated in the third experiment according to the results of the two preceding experiments. Results show that the character reading accuracy reaches 91.7% and the character reading speed is approximately 617.8 ms. Our method has better reading efficiency and is easier to learn than the traditional Braille coding method.

This paper presents a method for designing private networks considering response time under packet switching network environment Specifically, we propose the designing process of a private network, where the host is assumed to be synchronous and the terminals to be asynchronous, according to protocol and access lines. To calculate the response time for the networks, we use the mutual independent M/M/1 and M/W/s queueing models. Comparing the response time derived from the model with the actual one, it is found that the model yields almost same performance in a more economic way. From the experiment, it is suggested that the necessary number of lines as well as the response time for a specific network can be estimated properly by sensitivity analysis.

This study deals with the designing of vehicle pedal considering simple reaction time of visual information. Because vehicle accidents may bring about fatal results, the vehicle design which is considered with safity is very important. Though the vehicle design considered with safity is important in the whole parts of vehicle, the designing of pedal which is directly connected the designing of pedal which can minimize reaction time to risk through simple experiments. In the experiments, the experience of driving, the location of brake pedal and the space between brake and accelerator pedal are considered. Using experiment equipment and IBM-PC, simple reaction time was measured. The data which was result from measurement was analyzed with SPSS/PC+. When brake pedal located right side and the space between brake and accelerator pedal was 35cm, reaction was minimized. Based on this results, the vehicle pedal should be designed.
