  • Recently, may high-rise buildings have been constructed, and will be constructed so that concerns about high-rise buildings have increased. We need to develop energy saving techniques immediately because the high-rise buildings consume a lot of energy. The most of effective energy saving method is the application of the efficient lighting designs and fixtures. The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of lighting design, fixture and control system in Korea and it can be used the lighting application guide-line for the high-rise buildings.

A Study of HDR Software Reliability for the Luminance Map Creation (휘도맵의 작성을 위한 HDRI 생성 도구의 신뢰도에 관한 연구)

  • Luminance is the most important quantity in lighting design and illuminating engineering. There are three methods for measuring luminance; using a conventional luminance meter, through the illuminance measurement and subsequent calculations and using digital imaging photometer. Recently, HDRI(High Dynamic Range Imaging) technique introduces a new method of capturing luminance values in a lighting environment. The radiance maps from HDRI are commonly used as visual environment maps for lighting analysis applications. For the HDRI, HDR software is needed to create HDR image. Currently, there is number of HDR software available. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether a luminance map can be accurately captured by the various types of HDR software which include HDR Shop and Photoshop. To accomplish this goal a set of experiments was conducted. In order to assess the luminance values of the HDR image from HDR software, the values had to be compared to the ones obtained with conventional methods of luminance measurement.

A Study on Daylighting Performance of an Inner Court with Reflecting Mirror System (반사거울 방식을 이용한 중정 내 자연채광 성능 분석 연구)

  • To lead lighting inside, design solution and mechenical solution can be used.A inner court and atrium are samples for design solution. However, physical and environmental elements for building design are not taken positively into consideration. So low position of the inner court is difficult to reach lighting performance and a urban landscape gets damaged. On this study, selecting a building with a inner court, best design method is suggested to apply reflecting mirror. building direction, building shape and solar position are considered to deside the setting angle for reflecting mirror. Performance for the setting reflecting mirror is verified through various simulation cases, and is got more lighting performance than the present situation on the building inside.

  • Lighting and traffic signal columns are mainly stressed by excitation due to natural, gusty wind. Such columns typically have a door opening about 60 cm above ground level for the connection of the buried cable with the column's electric system. When the columns around this notch are inadequately designed, vibrations due to gusty winds will produce considerable stress amplitudes in this area, which lead to fatigue cracks. To give a realistic basis for a reliable and economic design of lighting and traffic signal columns, a number of experimental and theoretical investigations have been made. The proposed design concept allows the life of such columns to be assessed with a satisfactory degree of accuracy.

  • This paper describes the simulations on the actual measurement analysis and lighting design for recreational sports facility. Based on illumination requirements, sports may be divided into multidirectional sports and unidirectional sports. Typical multidirectional aerial sports include Jokcu. These sports require well distributed horizontal illumination and uniformity according to aiming. Therefore, this paper estimates horizontal illuminance and uniformity ratio by actual measurement of sports lighting at recreational Jokcu court in Cheju National University and evaluation of sports lighting conditions for optimal design by computer simulation.

Comparison with Perception of Interaction between Finishing Materials and Lighting according to Preference of one's Spatial Sensitivity (공간감 선호에 따른 조명과 마감재 인터랙션의 지각정도 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of perception and to measure the degree of interaction between the lighting and the finishing materials according to preference types and the impacted factors to the spatial sensitivity of users. To do that, the this change was grasped through the experiment with Likert Scale and ANOVA of SPSS program to the simulated images. The result of this study is as following. Firstly, the personal difference in the perception of space comes from 'attention' in information processing process. The degree of the perception of users change strongly by lighting in the space expressed the 'modern natural'. Secondly, the atmosphere and the degree of perception are different in the preference of users to the spatial sensitivity and in impacted factors which are thought by users in the space sensitives. The users who prefer the 'decoration' feel the mood more strongly in the space. But the users who prefer the 'active' and 'intimacy' are opposite to that. The difference to the degree of perception is greater in the 'classic natural' than the others under the lighting turns on. Thirdly, an in-depth research which is considered of the interaction among the various factors is needed for finding the design methods for inducing the sensitivity of users in the space. And the ranking of the impacted factors should be understanded and applied to the research regarding the changes of perception in the space. Finally, this study has the limitation to be adapted to all of the situation for the space design methods. But this will be a basic data to study the design methods for users's sensitivity in the space.

  • DMX512 protocol is a typical protocol which controls LED lighting system. It has a strong feature and can be used to a lot of lighting system. But LED control system with cable has a few problem because they have a lot of control cables. It is very difficult to set up the complex lighting. Furthermore if it is set up it is not easy to keep and recover the system from the out of order. So it is required Wireless Lighting Control System. This paper describes the proposal, design, and implementation of a novel method which can provide versatile light effects with the increased capability of the mobility and the number of universes for Wireless Lighting system. And then we implement experiment environment to control indoor lighting system controled by ZigBee and WLAN converter not having complicating control line. Data frames are transferred to DMX512 device by encapsulation and decapsulation to control color LED. In the same time give the method to solve the data bottleneck problem which can be comes out because of speed difference between Heterogeneous network and measure performance of control system.

  • The purpose of this study is the realization of LED light environment closely resembling the Autumn daylight which people feel comfortable with. This research was conducted through an optical experiment and Emotional evaluation through human's eyes. Human beings are affected by the color of light, quality and light intensity. Unlike the past when human beings have worked mainly in daylight, the urbanites today spend most of the time in indoor spaces. Therefore, the artificial light is needed to strive toward a spectrum of daylight. This study is purposed to provide the pleasant light environment for human beings and build its database. This study course is expected to contribute to the new design methodology of the related fields under the development of the LED emotional lighting color.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the direction of LED lighting development to give people a comfortable feeling. For about 2 years, the database of daylighting color has been built by daylighting measurement and analysing hourly, monthly and seasonal change in daylighting colors. Finally, changes of color coordinates were drawn as a graph and it presented as the LED lighting color development indicator through the relationship with Plankian locus. This methodology is expected to contribute to the development fields of the LED lighting color.

  • An economic evaluation is required to reduce the cost of energy and lighting in the design of interior lighting. WEELS2011 is developed as a method of economic evaluation for LED lighting systems. Economic evaluation for fluorescent and LED lightings and after applying rebate to LED system is conducted using WEELS2011. The utilization and analysis of WEELS2011 are suggested for the reduction of energy and lighting cost.
