With development of digital technology and globalization after Seoul Olympic in 1988, Korea has recklessly accepted western culture, thus causing damages to Korean identity The purpose of this study is to design Imperial Palace Hotel VIP lounge space applying traditional Korean style. This study analyzed traditional expression according to its element and method taken out from the prior researches related to it. The method of traditional expressions divided into the method of prototype reappearance, prototype transformation, reinterpretation, and abstract. This study aimed at get the understanding on traditional Korean architecture, space planning and furniture arrangement. As a result, the plan represent traditional Korean style including the space planning and furniture, the colors and patterns, and the building materials. The Imperial Palace VIP lounge Is not tile space for eating and social activities, but also provide the space for introducing traditional Korean culture and life.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the organic forms, expressions, and characteristics of Alexander McQueen's fashion design and to present various materials for understanding and utilizing this organic design style. The criteria for organic design expressions and characteristics were classified through a literature review, and the organic design characteristics of Alexander McQueen's fashion were then analyzed. The results are as follows: First, the morphological characteristics of nature's forms are used as objects in Alexander McQueen's fashions to represent organic characteristics. Second, abstraction through the application of organic forms means creating an abstract representation of the object being represented. Abstracting organic forms occurs by partially modifying the structural features of the human body to show characteristics or by visualizing these characteristics within the surface of the natural object. Third, continuity through the expression of the formation process of organisms is characteristic of the expression of the gradual growth of organisms; this reinterpretation is based on the concept that the internal elements of natural objects affect their external forms. Fourth, the structure of using natural materials, as well as regional and cultural characteristics, is shown in the designs through use of the physical characteristics of expressions and materials that use natural elements. Fifth, symbolism through subjective thinking implies that the element of nature that an object expresses is the element that appears in nature; this includes created organisms along with environmental factors. These characteristics are best demonstrated in fashion designs that express themselves through creativity.

A methodology using neural networks has been proposed for rapid prediction of inelastic bending moments in reinforced concrete continuous beams subjected to service load. The closed form expressions obtained from the trained neural networks take into account cracking in concrete at in-span and at near the internal supports and tension stiffening effect. The expressions predict the inelastic moments (considering the concrete cracking) from the elastic moments (neglecting the concrete cracking) at supports. Three separate neural networks are trained since these have been postulated to represent all the beams having any number of spans. The training, validating, and testing data sets for the neural networks are generated using an analytical-numerical procedure of analysis. The proposed expressions are verified for example beams of different number of spans and cross-section properties and the errors are found to be small. The proposed expressions, at minimal input data and computation effort, yield results that are close to FEM results. The expressions can be used in preliminary every day design as they enable a rapid prediction of inelastic moments and require a computational effort that is a fraction of that required for the available methods in literature.

As life is changing, modern people are interested in culture life more than the past and as a result Art Exhibition increases. Nowadays many methods of exhibit are introduced, especially Direct experience. Trick Art Experience exhibition introduced Direct experirence to a work of art for interests and used props, objets, images, and sounds for maximizing experience element. Trick Art Experience exhibition added humor as imitating famous painting and gave a deep impression through the optical illusion technique which make flat structure look three-dimensional structure. Recently, demands for Experience exhibition which are like Trick Art increase. This study figure out pros and cons through a comparison analysis of direction and component about Trick Art Experience exhibition and find a check list about making an audience active about experience. From now on, we have an object about showing design data including customer satisfaction measurement to make various expressions of direction and component about Experience Art through a case analysis. We have firsthand visited case spaces to experience the spaces and prepared a check list for the relevant types of expressions. Referring to the exhibit work classification system, components that correspond to Trick Art Experience exhibition were grouped according to constituting items. Among the types of expressions, the levels of satisfaction with Experience exhibition and Participating exhibit were found to be high and the level of satisfaction with Heart Moving exhibit was found to be low through surveys. Among the components, the levels of satisfaction with stereograms and formative effect elements were found to be high and those of spatial changes and media effects were found to be low through surveys. Therefore, the expressions should be reinforced and the components should be improved.

In this study, analysis of the cultural effects on design expressions and comparative analysis of designers' cultural background on their expression methods were implemented. The purpose of this study is to help the professionals and learners who pursue towards cultural designs in the design field utilize this research work as reference data and academic materials, and to contribute to the development of designs in the Eastern cultures. The author compared the differences between the viewpoints depending on background, either the Eastern or the Western culture, based on the existing studies and literatures, and analyzed the relationship between the viewpoints and expressions. Also, analyses of the expression methods related with cultural viewpoints and design viewpoints were conducted, especially with analysis of works of Uchida Shigeru from the East and Berner Panton from the West. Although both of their works were produced contemporarily and expressed with similar techniques, each of the conceptual approaches to their works represents different characteristics of the cultural viewpoint. Such a finding suggests that the approach to the design process should take place in a different way based on its cultural background, and it is accordingly required to seek for a new method for cultural design process.

The design of high-rise building is often influenced by wind-induced motions such as accelerations and lateral deflections. Consequently, the building's structural stiffness and dynamic (vibration periods and damping) properties become important parameters in the determination of such motions. The approximate methods and empirical expressions used to quantify these parameters at the design phase tend to yield values significantly different from each other. In view of this, there is a need to examine how actual buildings in the field respond to dynamic wind loading in order to ascertain a more realistic model for the dynamic behavior of buildings. This paper describes the findings from full-scale measurements of the wind-induced response of typical high-rise buildings in Singapore, and recommends an empirical forecast model for periods of vibration of typical buildings in Singapore, an appropriate computer model for determining the periods of vibration, and appropriate expressions which relate the wind speed to accelerations in buildings based on wind tunnel force balance model test and field results.

This study aims to analyze the hair styles featured in the collections from S/S season of 1995 to F/W season of 2004 both qualitatively and quantitatively by using content-analytical methods. This study was able to form a classifying system that divides hair styles into those artificial and those natural through systematic and scientific research. The resulting system, in turn, broadened the basis for understanding modern fashion and hair style expressions. In addition, by analyzing design-related characteristics, certain expressive techniques employed, and trends in detail, this study contributed to establishing the hair styles, which form part of socio-cultural phenomena, as an academic subject.
