MPEG-4 Contents Authoring for Interactive DMB

  • Interactive DMB contents are provided by MPEG-4 scene description. The abundant interactions of the user bring on the high bit rate of MPEG-4 scene description. But DMB system has low bandwidth and limited bit rate. So we need new authoring method for MPEG-4 scene description. In this paper, we proposed a seamless authoring method for the DMB environment. It can generate BIFS information tinily and dynamically. The research result can be used by DMB system for a seamless MPEG-4 contents transmission.

음성 DB 부가 정보 기술방안 표준화를 위한 제안 (Standardization for Annotation Information Description of Speech Database)

  • This paper presents about the activities of speech database standardization in ETRI. Recently, with the support of government, ETRI and SiTEC have been gathering the large speech corpus for the domestic speech related companies. First, due to the lack of sharing the knowledge of speech database specification, the distributed speech database has a different format. Hence it seems to be needed to have the same format as soon as possible. ETRI and SiTEC are trying to find the better representation format of speech database. Second, we introduce a new description method of the annotation information of speech database. As one of the structured description method, XML based description will be applied to represent the metadata of the speech database. It will be continuously revised through the speech technology standard forum during this year.

Multi-granular Angle Description for Plant Leaf Classification and Retrieval Based on Quotient Space

  • Plant leaf classification is a significant application of image processing techniques in modern agriculture. In this paper, a multi-granular angle description method is proposed for plant leaf classification and retrieval. The proposed method can describe leaf information from coarse to fine using multi-granular angle features. In the proposed method, each leaf contour is partitioned first with equal arc length under different granularities. And then three kinds of angle features are derived under each granular partition of leaf contour: angle value, angle histogram, and angular ternary pattern. These multi-granular angle features can capture both local and globe information of the leaf contour, and make a comprehensive description. In leaf matching stage, the simple city block metric is used to compute the dissimilarity of each pair of leaf under different granularities. And the matching scores at different granularities are fused based on quotient space theory to obtain the final leaf similarity measurement. Plant leaf classification and retrieval experiments are conducted on two challenging leaf image databases: Swedish leaf database and Flavia leaf database. The experimental results and the comparison with state-of-the-art methods indicate that proposed method has promising classification and retrieval performance.

도시 구조물 분류를 위한 3차원 점 군의 구형 특징 표현과 심층 신뢰 신경망 기반의 환경 형상 학습 (Spherical Signature Description of 3D Point Cloud and Environmental Feature Learning based on Deep Belief Nets for Urban Structure Classification)

  • This paper suggests the method of the spherical signature description of 3D point clouds taken from the laser range scanner on the ground vehicle. Based on the spherical signature description of each point, the extractor of significant environmental features is learned by the Deep Belief Nets for the urban structure classification. Arbitrary point among the 3D point cloud can represents its signature in its sky surface by using several neighborhood points. The unit spherical surface centered on that point can be considered to accumulate the evidence of each angular tessellation. According to a kind of point area such as wall, ground, tree, car, and so on, the results of spherical signature description look so different each other. These data can be applied into the Deep Belief Nets, which is one of the Deep Neural Networks, for learning the environmental feature extractor. With this learned feature extractor, 3D points can be classified due to its urban structures well. Experimental results prove that the proposed method based on the spherical signature description and the Deep Belief Nets is suitable for the mobile robots in terms of the classification accuracy.

Multiple Description Coding using Unequal MDSQ in Wavelet Domain

  • Error resilience for image coding is an important component of multimedia communication system. Error resilience schemes address loss recovery from the compression perspective. Multiple description coding (MDC) is one of the error resilience techniques promising for robust video transmission. It is the way to achieve tradeoff description such as scalar quantization, correlating transform and the quantized frame expansion. In this paper, we consider Multiple Description Scalar Quantization (MDSQ) to wavelet domain. Conventional MDSQ schemes considered description with equal weights in each sub-bands. But, we can see that the each sub-bands is unequal contribution to whole image quality. Therefore, we experiment the multiple design MDSQ table to make probability of zero index high, which gives high efficiency in arithmetic symbol coder. We also compare our proposed method with the conventional methods and show improved performance in terms of redundancy-rate-distortion.

바이너리 파일 디스크립션 방식을 이용한 ECG 변환 시스템 (ECG Conversion System Using Description Method for Binary Files)

  • In this paper, we develop a descriptor based on binary ECG conversion system that supports the conversion of a binary ECG format into XML-based HL7 aECG for the interoperability of ECG. HL7 aECG is a XML based standard for interoperability of ECG waveform. For the conversion of variety of ECG formats, we propose a binary ECG description mechanism. In order to describe binary ECG more efficiently, we develop a XML-based Binary ECG Description (BED) Language. One of the powerful features of using the XML-based ECG Description mechanism is that ECG data can read from various formats without the modification of source code of conversion system, and consequently it reduces conversion system maintenance costs.

장기이식 전문간호사의 직무분석 (Task Analysis of Korean Transplantation Nurse Practitioner)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to create the job description of Korean transplantation nurse practitioner and examine performance frequencies, criticality, and difficulties of task elements. Method: The sample consisted of 63 nurses and coordinators who performed duties related to transplantation at medical center in Korea. A survey method was used, and the questionnaire included frequencies, criticality, and difficulties of task elements in job description by the DACUM method. Using SPSS WIN 10.0, descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, means, and standard deviations were conducted to examine the subject's general characteristics, the frequencies, criticality, and difficulties of task performance. Result: The job description of transplantation nurse practitioners revealed 5 duties, 22 tasks, and 85 task elements. On the all five duties, the averages of the performance frequency, criticality, and difficulty were 2.41, 3.38, and 2.78, meaning that the respondents rarely perform the 5 duties, but consider them critical and easy to perform. Conclusion: The job description of the transplantation nurse practitioner included duty, task, and task element and definition of job completed. Thus we recommended a data based trial to confirm and validate the information gathered.

비 공유 저장장치를 가지는 클러스터 기반 서버에서 다중 디스크립션 코딩을 이용한 스트리밍 방법 (The Streaming Method using Multiple Description Coding for cluster-based server with shared-nothing storage)

  • 일반적인 비 공유 저장장치를 가진 시스템에서는 특정 컨텐츠에 대한 편향된(skewed) 요청 문제를 피할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 비 공유 저장장치 모델로 설계/구현된 클러스터 기반의 스트리밍 서버에서 사용자의 편향된 컨텐츠 요청에 대처할 수 있고 스트리밍 서비스 중인 서버 또는 NS 카드에 문제가 생기더라도 스트리밍 서비스가 중단되지 않도록 다중 스트리밍 방법인 MDC(Multiple Description Coding)를 적용한 스트리밍 전송방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 클러스터 시스템에서 단일 세션으로 스트리밍 서비스를 제공하는 것이 아니라 MDC를 활용하여 다중 세션을 통한 스트리밍 서비스를 제공함으로써 모든 서버의 부하가 같아지고, 특정 서버에 문제가 발생하더라도 스트리밍 서비스가 끊어지지 않으면서 MDC의 특성인 적응형 서비스도 가능하게 되는 장점이 있다.

ESTELLE 명세에서 VHDL 명세로의 변환 방법론 (Transformation Methodology from Specification of ESTELLE to VHDL)

  • 시스템 수준의 프로토콜 명세를 위한 정형 기법들은 S/W 구현에 중심을 둔 반면, 성능의 향상을 위해서 프로토콜의 설계를 H/W로 구현하는 것에 대한 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 따라서, 특정한 프로토콜을 이용한 시스템의 S/W적 구현에서 H/W적 구현으로 기반 환경이 변화함에 따라 IP(Integrated Processing)기술의 도입이 필요하게 되었다. 또한, 정형 명세로부터 시작하는 H/W의 구현 방법은 정형 명세의 특성에 의해, 구현된 H/W의 정확성, 신뢰성을 보장할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 형식기술기법중의 하나인 ESTELLE로 정형화된 프로토콜을 H/W언어인 VHDL로 변환하는 방법을 제시한다. 우선 ESTELLE 명세를 VHDL 명세로 변환하는 변환방법을 기술한다. 이는 개념적인 변환방법으로 프로토콜 명세화의 기본 단위인 computation unit과 communication unit의 동작과 H/W에서의 프로세스간 동작의 유사성 등을 비교 분석하였다. 그 후 변환 모델을 기술하고, Inres 프로토콜을 통하여 실제로 ESTELLE을 VHDL로 변환하는 예를 제시한다.

  • 사회의 다양한 모습을 기록으로 남기려는 민간 공동체 아카이브 구축이 증가함에 따라 사회적 소수자들에 대한 아카이브 구축에 대한 관심도 증가하였다. 이에 성적 소수자들의 기록에 초점을 맞추어 국내 퀴어 아카이브인 '퀴어락(Queerarch)'을 중심으로 기록물 구축현황을 알아보고 퀴어기록의 특성과 퀴어락 기술요소의 문제점을 파악하였다. 퀴어락 기술요소의 문제점으로 제시된 집합적 기술과 다계층 기술의 부재, 퀴어 기록의 특성을 충분히 반영하지 못했다는 점을 보완할 수 있는 방안을 마련하고자 ISAD(G), MAD, RAD 등의 기술규칙을 참고하여 새로운 기술요소를 제안하였다.
