A Clinical Report of Exfloliative Dermatitis (박탈성 피부염의 한방 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medical treatments on exfloliative dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 25-years-old man patient with exfloliative dermatitis on the limbs and back with Korean medicine. After Korean medical teatment for 26 days, we measured the decrease of dermatitis and recovery of skin exfloliate. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Result & Conclusion : The symptoms of exfloliative dermatitis were significantly improved. The dry skin and itching were disappeared and skin damages were almost recovered. Thus Korean medical treatments are effective on exfloliative dermatitis.

A Case Study on Steroid Rebound Phenomenon after Steroids Treatment for Pompholyx (스테로이드 치료후 리바운드 현상이 발생한 한포진 치험 1례)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to know the effect of Korean medical treatment on pompholyx including steroid rebound phenomenon. Methods : We experienced one case of pompholyx treated with herbal medicine, pharmacupuncture and acupuncture. To evaluate the results of this treatment, we categorized symptoms into four items which are vesicles, itching, erythema and erosions. Results & Conclusions : After treatment we observed the improvement. Based on this experience, it is considered that the Korean medicine can be applied to the treatment of pompholyx.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the one clinical experience of korean medical treatment on polyarteritis nodosa(PAN). Methods : We treated a 46-year old man patient with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, Daehwangchoseok-tang, Chijadaehwangsi-tang. We evaluated the improvement of patients by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and photography. Results : After the treatments, symptoms of skin lesion including pus, swelling, subcutaneous nodule and bleeding were improved and VAS of pain decreased from 10 to 1. Conclusions : This study shows that the korean medical treatment can improving symptoms of PAN.

A Case of Allergic Contact Dermatitis Improved after Korean Medicine Treatment Administration (한방 치료 후 호전된 알레르기성 접촉피부염 치험 1례)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medicine treatments on Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 63-years-old man patient with Allergic Contact Dermatitis on the left medial calf with Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 26 days, we identified a reduction in size of erythema and loss of color fading, exudates and edema. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusions : The symptoms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis were improved. Erythema, edema, exudate were lost. Thus Korean medicine treatments are effective on allergic contact dermatitis.

  • Epistaxis is the condition which the blood comes out with the nose. It has been known that nasal bleeding happens with many reasons. In most cases, epistaxis is a slight illness, but sometimes, it leads to death because of longstanding or copious bleeding. First of all, to stop a hemorrhage is most important treatment for epistaxis, but the curative effect of oriental medical treatment for epistaxis does not become known well. We treated a patient suffered from epistasis with acupuncture, herb medication. After treatment we observed the improvement. Based on this study, it is considered that oriental medical treatment can be applied to the management of epistaxis.

  • Drug eruption refers to an adverse effect which is unintentionally given rise to by dosage, injection, inhalation, suppository and ointment, etc. Maculopapular, urticarial, morbilliform, papulosquamous, pustular, and bullous morphologies may be encountered. Adverse drug reactions also can cause pruritus or dysesthesia unaccompanied by rash. We treated a patient suffered from maculopapular rash and pruritus with acupuncture, herb medication and wet dressing. After treatment we observed the improvement. Based on this study, it is considered that oriental medical treatment can be applied to the management of drug eruption.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean Medical treatment on Postherpetic Neuralgia. Methods : Five patients suffering from postherpetic neuralgia were treated with Warm Needling, Bee venom Acupuncture, Cupping Therapy, Sipjeondaebo-tang. To evaluate the results of this treatment, we used Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Pain Rating Scale(PRS), Quality of Sleep(QSP). Results : After treatment, VAS, PRS, QSP and clinical symptoms of 5 patients were improved remarkably. Conclusions : According to the results, These findings suggest that Traditional Korean Medical treatment can be effective for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to understand neuroprotection therapy of glaucoma with both Korean and western medicine.Methods :  We searched Pubmed on the title "glaucoma" and "neuroprotection" and also searched CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and OASIS(Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System) on the title "glaucoma".Results : The results are as follows. 1. In western medicine, excitotoxicity inhibition, immunomodulation, oxidative stress suppression, supplement of NTFs and stem cell therapy are studied with neuroprotection therapy of glaucoma. 2. Treatment of glaucoma in TCM and Korean medicine are associated with liver(肝) and kidney(腎).Conclusions : Korean medical approaches on neuroprotection therapy of glaucoma can be significant, and further studies are needed to research.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of using korean medical treatment on ulcer occurred in Anus and Vulva. Methods : We treated the patient with Taglisodog-eum(托裏消毒飮), acupuncture, and korean medical treatment using herb such as ointment and fumigation therapy. VAS score, Photographs were used to evaluate the effects of treatment. Results : After the total treatments, VAS score decreased from 7 to 1. In this case, we treated ulcer and checked regeneration of new tissue. Conclusions : The result suggests that Korean medical treatment including Taglisodog-eum(托裏消毒飮) can be effective in treatingulcer.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyse research trend on alopecia including androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, etc.Methods : We searched Pubmed, CNKI and OASIS on the title "alopecia" in recent 5 years.Results : We found 23 studies on Pubmed, 20 on CNKI, and 3 on OASIS about treatments of alopecia. The subjects of them were about 5α-reductase inhibitor, Minoxidil, steroids, immunosuppression, laser therapy, PRP, microneedling, stem cell, herbal medicine, integrative medicine, external treatments and syndrome differentiation.Conclusions : In recent studies in western medicine were about combination therapy or safety and presented validities and superiorities about new treatments. Integrative medicine, external treatment and researches about patients' characteristics were reported in TCM. Korean medicine has advantages of considering whole body and phychological problems.
