  • The effects of the composition and additives on the blackening and deposition rate of electroless Ni-Zn plating have been examined. Hydrazine resulted in lower sheet resistance of the deposit than sodium hypophosphite. Zinc concentration more than 15 wt% and small amount of ammonium sulfate in the deposits were needed in obtaining Ni-Zn deposit with a black color. An optimum condition was obtained for the black Ni-Zn deposit at an appreciable deposition rate.

  • The effects of additive(grain refiner, GR) on process efficiency of the Ni-Fe-P alloy electrodeposition and the material properties of the deposit were investigated. Electrochemical properties of the deposits were investigated using polarization and electrochemical impedance techniques, and the material properties of the deposits were characterized through inductively coupled plasma(ICP), spiral contractometer, XRD, SEM and TEM. When the additive was added into the electrodeposition bath, current efficiency, Ni content and corrosion resistance of the deposit increased, whereas residual stress, surface roughness and grain size of the deposit decreased.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the influences of different types of household income and asset in the consumption expenditures of homeowners and lessees with deposit. The data used in this study were the 1996 Korea Household Panel Study. 1,512 households data were selected for the final analysis. The statistical methods adopted for data analysis were frequency, percentage, one-way ANOVA, crosstabs, multiple regression analysis, and chow-test. The results are as follows: (1) There were the differences between three groups in the expenditure levels of each consumption category and the shares of each consumption category of total expenditures. (2) The change of labor income influenced more significantly consumption expenditures of homeowners and lessees with deposit, compared to changes of different types of household income. Also homeowners and lessees with deposit changed their consumption expenditures in different ways to changes of various types of household income. (3) Homeowners increased more significantly their consumption expenditures to increase of net asset than lessees with deposit.

  • Ogbang scheelite deposit imbedded in amphibolite of unknown age was believed, by the previous workers, to be of pegmatite vein. The vein material is composed mainly of plagioclase (albite and oligoclase) and minor amount (less than 5 to 10% each) of hornblende, biotite and quartz. Orthoclose and tourmaline are accompanied in few places and scheelite and minor amount of fluorite, are the ore minerals. On the basis of mineralogical constituents of the vein, vein structures, mode of occurrence of the vein and gradational contact between veins and amphibolite, the present writer conclude that the deposit was formed by segregation from the parent basic igneous rock of amphibolite. The main portions of the deposit were formed by intrusion of ore solution into already solidified amphibolite after being segregated in deeper horizone, whereas the minor portion by segregation of ore solution in situ.

  • Recent developments of Laser metal 3D deposition with wire feeding are reviewed which provide an alternative to powder feeding method. The wire feeding direction, angle and position as well as laser power, wire feeding rate, and deposition speed are found to be key parameters to make quality deposition with high throughput. When compared with the powder feed, the wire feed shows higher material efficiency, higher deposition rate, and smoother surface. Large elongated columnar grains which have epitaxial growth across deposit layers are observed in deposit cross sections. The growth direction is parallel to the thermal gradient during the deposit process. Tensile properties are found to be dependent on the direction due to the anisotropic deposit property. A real-time feedback control is demonstrated to be effective to improve the deposition stability.

  • New E-EGR valve design to suppress a carbon deposit causing a trouble in the valve by improving gas flow velocity is proposed. With CFD simulations of various shapes of valve disk and rod, the velocities and quantities of flowing fluid are observed. The proposed unique design of having round grooves on the disk head shows the improved performance of flow velocity about 10 % without sacrificing the flow quantity.

  • A beach nourishment method can be used as one of the beach erosion protection methods which may keep coastal environments whithout constructing coastal structures on the HAE UN DAE beach. The beach nourishmens is affected by a natural condition and artificial condition;a natural condition includes conditions of bottom slope, diameter of bottom materials and waves, and artificial conditions include deposit position, method, diameter and quantity of the nourishing sand. It has accomplished to obtain the deposit position and the best diameter of the nourishing sand from a two-dimensional hydraulic model test, which simulates the erosional HAE UN DAE beach. In this study, the protection of the beach erosion can be maximized when the nourishing sand of 3.3mm in diameter, which is about 5.5.times of the bottom materials in diameter, is deposited layerly in front of the breaker zone which has a water depth of 4.6m.

  • This study has evaluated the wear behavior of PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) Inconel 625 and Stellite 6 overlays on Nimonic 80A substrate. Nimonic 80A alloy was also included for comparison. In order to evaluate the wear performance, three-body abrasive wear test and pin-on-disk dry sliding wear test were performed. Microstructural development during the solidification of deposits is also discussed. Wear test results show that the wear rate of Stellite 6 deposit is lower than that of Inconel 625 deposit and Nimonic 80A. The sliding wear resistance of overlay deposits follows a similar trend to the abrasive wear resistance, but for Nimonic 80A. The main wear mechanisms were abrasive wear for Inconel 625 deposit, adhesive wear and delamination for Stellite 6 deposit in pin-on-disk dry sliding wear test and ploughing in three-body abrasive wear test. Cross sectional examinations of the worn surface of pin specimens after pin-on-disk dry sliding wear test implies that the plastic deformation near worn surface has occurred during the wear testing.

  • Geophysical survey for unconformity-type uranium deposit applied to this study area in Athabaska Basin, Canada were carried out airborne TEM and magnetic, resistivity-induced polarization (DC-IP), puser seismic reflection and well-logging method. The results of airborne survey interpreted the lithological boundary, geological structures, and conductors. Also, these results decided to main targets for ground DC-IP survey. The Low resistivity and the high chargeability slices of 3D modeling interpreted from DC-IP survey response for conductors related to hydrothermal alteration zones and fault-controlled graphitic zones occurring at the unconformity-type uranium deposit, and they confirmed by diamond drilling. Seismic results interpreted to lake bottom surface, alluvium layer and intra-sandstone faults. We suggest the resonable field data acquisition of DC-IP method on the land or the lake in Athabaska Basin.

  • Factors that affect the hardness of the zinc electrodeposits in the sulfate electrolyte were investigated. The hardness of zinc deposit was enhanced by increasing the concentration of impurities such as iron and nickel in the bath that changed the crystallographic orientation of the zinc deposit from the strong basal plane to the random orientation. The increase of the concentration of sodium sulfate and current density in iron contained bath improved the hardness of zinc deposit because those were easily codeposited in zinc layer. However the increase of the concentration of sodium sulfate up to 80g/$\ell$ in the bath darkened the surface of zinc electrodeposits due to change of morphology by the codeposition of iron.
