Monitoring of Cleanliness Level in Hydraulic Systems: Obtaining Reliable On-Line data

  • Monitoring of system cleanliness levels and counting of particulate contaminant are fundamental to achieving hydraulic system reliability as any departure from the specified cleanliness level is often a precursor to future failures. On-line monitoring of cleanliness levels has the advantage of giving data both very quickly and accurately as environmental influences are eliminated. In this way, corrective actions can be promptly implemented. Most on-line instruments are sensitive to system conditions to a greater or lesser extent, but Automatic Particle Counters (APCs) working on light extinction principles are especially sensitive to the presence of optical interfaces caused by such conditions as fluid mixtures, emulsions, free water and air bubbles. These conditions give erroneous data and can result in drawing incorrect conclusions, wasting maintenance time and ultimately, reduced user confidence in cleanliness monitoring. This paper describes such conditions and shows how the correct selection of the analysis technique can result in reliable cleanliness level data.

  • In this study, we consider characteristics of stationary waiting times in single-server 2-node tandem queues with a finite buffer, a Poisson arrival process and deterministic service times. The system has two buffers: one at the first node is infinite and the other one at the second node is finite. We show that the sojourn time or departure process does not depend on the capacity of the finite buffer and on the order of nodes (service times), which are the same as the previous results. Furthermore, the explicit expressions of waiting times at the first node are given as a function of the capacity of the finite buffer and we are able to disclose a relationship of waiting times between under communication blocking and under manufacturing blocking. Some numerical examples are also given.

다기능 전방 카메라 개발을 위한 영상 DB 구축 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Image DB Construction for the Multi-function Front Looking Camera System Development)

  • This paper addresses the effective and quantitative image DB construction for the development of front looking camera systems. The automotive industry has expanded the capability of front camera solutions that will help ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) applications targeting Euro NCAP function requirements. These safety functions include AEB(Autonomous Emergency Braking), TSR(Traffic Signal Recognition), LDW(Lane Departure Warning) and FCW(Forward Collision Warning). In order to guarantee real road safety performance, the driving image DB logged under various real road conditions should be used to train core object classifiers and verify the function performance of the camera system. However, the driving image DB would entail an invalid and time consuming task without proper guidelines. The standard working procedures and design factors required for each step to build an effective image DB for reliable automotive front looking camera systems are proposed.

  • This study develops a improved gate assignment algorithm and decision support system using its algorithm to extract a assignment result minimizing a walking distance of passengers in airport and maximizing the utilization rate of avaliable gates in domestic airports. By operation support system, it may contribute greatly in efficient enlargement of airport operation and increase the airport reliability through quickly coping with takeoff and landing delay of flight due to weather change, preservation and repair of gate, etc. Also, passengers who use airport terminal can minimize time and walking distance for departure, arrival, and transit, and it may greatly reduce the additional operation cost for common gates through maximizing the utilization rate for exclusive usage gates for airplanes which use gates.

  • The characteristics of train-wind in the underground shopping center(UGSC) connected to subway station is investigated by field measurement for the case of train movement such as arrival and departure, etc. Also air curtain installed at the pass way between underground shopping center and subway station were considered as the parameter in order to analysis the effect on indoor air quality and thermal condition. The measurement data such as velocity, relative humidity, wind-pressure were plotted as quantity variation with time scale. The train-wind affected wind velocity, air pressure and relative humidity at the connecting area of underground shopping center and subway station, and the variation was about 4.5 m/s, 8%, 40 Pa. Also the result showed that the air curtain is not proper to reduce influence of train-wind

  • Currently, the use of the subway system as a public transportation has been an increasing demand due to the complex transportation structure in Korea. The subway system provides on time arrival and departure, relatively comfortable riding, and convenient access in the metropolitan area. Among several areas of the operation of the subway system, the safety of subway vehicle itself is of important because the rolling stocks carry the passengers, and the safety and reliability of rolling stocks are directly affected for the safety of subway passengers. In this research, various advanced engineering analysis techniques for the precision diagnosis assessment of subway EMUs have been introduced and the diagnosis assessment results have been used to provide the critical information for the lifetime assessment of EMUs.

  • Ship's position data obtaining method is one of the very important factor in navigation. Nowadays, GPS(Global Positioning System) using the earth orbiting satellites are equipped and operated for the position finding. Because it provides more precise position information than other equipments and is very convenient for navigator. In this study, it is designed to develop the GPS simulator for everybody being able to practise the GPS operating skill like as navigation planning, navigation calculating etc. And also, it can be operated with personal computer without real GPS receiver. This simulation system is based on the real GPS receiver and built by the visual basic 5.0 program. And it displays the ship's position and navigating information and plots the ship's moving track on the screen in real time according as initial setup data-main engine's rpm, rudder angle, departure position and waypoint.

  • 정차시간은 철도의 용량에 영향을 미치는 요소 중의 하나이다. 현재 정차시간에 대한 연구는 도시 철도 위주로 연구되어 왔으며, 고속철도의 정차시간에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않은 상태이다. 정차시간은 열차가 정차한 뒤 문이 열리는 시간, 승객의 승하차시간, 문이 닫힌 후 열차 출발 전까지의 걸리는 시간으로 구성되어 있으며, 차량 내 혼잡도, 승/하차 인원, 역내 혼잡도 등의 다양한 요인들의 영향을 받는다. 이를 분석하기 위해서는 승/하차 인원, 역내 혼잡도, 차량 내 혼잡도 등의 자료 분석이 필요하나, 차량 내 혼잡도 및 차량 내 승객의 분포도 등은 자료 수집의 어려움으로 인하여 본 연구에서는 제외하므로, 정차시간에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 수요를 통하여 고속철도 수요에 따른 정차시간 예측 모형을 개발하겠다.

신호교차로의 출발녹색시간 변화에 따른 직진교통류의 지체 및 지체민감도 분식 (A Delay and Sensitivity of Delay Analysis for Varying Start of Green Time at Signalized Intersections: Focused on through traffic)

  • 신호교차로의 교통류 해석을 위해 널리 사용되는 선형모형(Vertical queueing model)은 자유속도에 따라 모든 차량이 정지선에 도착하고, 대기행렬은 정지선에서 수직으로 형성된다고 가정한다. 이러한 모형자체의 단순성 때문에 선두차량은 자유속도와 가속도에 의해 계산된 출발유효녹색시간(start of effective green time)에 정지선을 통과하게 되며, 모든 추종차량은 동일한 궤적을 갖게 된다고 가정한다. 본 연구의 목적은 Vertical queueing 모형의 단순성과 비현실성을 보완하기 위해 물리학의 Kinematic수식을 응용하여 신호교차로의 출발녹색시간(start of green time)을 함수로 한 자동차추종모형(Kinematic Car-following model at Signalized intersections: KCS traffic model)을 개발하고, 이에 따른 지체 및 지체민감도를 비교함에 있다. 출발녹색시간 변화에 따른 지체분석결과 Vertical queueing 모형에서 산출된 지체값이 KCS 교통류모형에 비해 과다하게 추정됨을 알 수 있었다. 반면, 지체민감도 분석 결과 KCS 교통류모형이 Vertical queueing 모형에 비해 민감하게 변함을 알 수 있었다.
