Evaluation on the sidesway seismic collapse capacity of the widely used low- and medium-height structures is meaningful. These structures with such type of collapse are recognized that behave as inelastic deteriorating single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems. To incorporate the deteriorating effects, the hysteretic loop of the nonlinear SDOF structural model is represented by a tri-linear force-displacement relationship. The concept of collapse capacity spectra are adopted, where the incremental dynamic analysis is performed to check the collapse point and a normalized ground motion intensity measure corresponding to the collapse point is used to define the collapse capacity. With a large amount of earthquake ground motions, a systematic parameter study, i.e., the influences of various ground motion parameters (site condition, magnitude, distance to rupture, and near-fault effect) as well as various structural parameters (damping, ductility, degrading stiffness, pinching behavior, accumulated damage, unloading stiffness, and P-delta effect) on the structural collapse capacity has been performed. The analytical formulas for the collapse capacity spectra considering above influences have been presented so as to quickly predict the structural collapse capacities.

UBVI CCD photometry has been obtained for a region around the Wolf-Rayet star WR 12. We found two young stellar associations in the observed field: the nearer one comprises the field members of Vela OBI association at d = 1.8kpc, while the farther one is the young open cluster Bochum 7 (Bo 7) at d = 4.8kpc. The stars associated with Bo 7 showed no central concentration which suggests that Bo 7 is not a young open cluster but simply a local concentration in the density of young stars belonging to the OB association (Vel OB3). These two associations have similar ages but remarkably different mass function slopes ($\Gamma$ = -2.1 $\pm$ 0.3 for Vel OBI and -1.0 $\pm$ 0.3 for Bo 7). The stars in Vel OBI shows an evident age spread (${\Delta}T\~ 9Myr$). We also found two strong H$\alpha$ emission stars - WR 12 and $\sharp$1066 - from narrow band H$\alpha$ photometry.

Since UV-B radiation measuring networks have not been established, numerical models which calculate the flux from other readily available meteorological measurements may play an important role. That is, such a problem can be solved by using parameterization models such as two stream approximation, the delta-Eddington method, doubling method, and discrete ordinate method. However, most UV-B radiative transfer models have not been validated with measurements, because such models are not intended as practical computational schemes for providing surface estimates of UV-B radiation. The main concern so far has been to demonstrate model sensitivity for cloudless skies. In particular, few have been concerned with real cloud information. Clouds and aerosols have generally been incorporated as constituents of particular atmospheric layers with specified optical depths and scattering properties. The parameterization model presented here is a combination of a detailed radiative transfer algorithm for a coludless sky radiative process and a more approximate scheme to handle cloud effects. The model input data requires a daily measurement of the total ozone amount plus a daily record of the amount and type of cloud in the atmosphere. Measurements for an examination of the models at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Pusan National University have been takenfrom February, 1995. These models can be used to calculate present and future fluxes where measurements have not been taken, and construct climatologies for the period before ozone depletion began.
We present collections of optical photometry for a pre-main sequence star HBC 722. It showed large amplitude optical outburst (${\Delta}V=4.7$ mag) in 2010 and classified as a FU Orionis type object. We have been observing HBC 722 from 2011 April to 2013 May, using Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (CQUEAN) attached to the 2.1 m Otto Struve telescope at the McDonald Observatory. Time-series monitoring data (minute-scale interval) were obtained in SDSS r, i and z bands to see short-scale behaviors as well as trace the long-term brightness changes after the eruption in 2010. Interestingly, it started to brighten from 2011 early summer and became brighter than the first outburst peak in our 2013 May observation. We expect that the recovering phase would result from re-increase of disk accretion rate, might attribute to distinctive short-scale color features. In this presentation, we report long- and short-timescale optical behaviors of HBC 722 in the post-outburst phase.
Black-dyed PET fabrics were sputtered with stainless steel through DC-magnetron type device to investigate the possibility of coloration effect, and then considered the morphological structure and physical characteristics such as water permeation ability and washing fastness. Change in color was estimated on the basis of CIELAB color system. The color coordination of metal plated PET was shifted to yellow-red from red-blue. Colour difference$({\Delta}E^*)$ was increased by sputtering conditions with increasing ion current and treatment time. Especially, $Lightness(L^*)$ value of PET was remarkably increased by sputtering, whereas $Chroma(C^*)$ increased gradually. From SEM analysis, rough and uneven craters were found and thickened on the fiber surfaces with longer sputtering time. And washing fastness was a little poor and absorption ability slightly decreased. There were little changes of breaking load and breaking extension. It was evident that observed uneven craters in the plated thin layer resulted in the colour change of PET fabrics by sputtering treatments.
In this study, the effect of soxhlet extraction on dewaxing of the aged beeswax-treated paper was examined. To do this, soxhlet extraction of the aged beeswax-treated paper performed with different reflux conditions and then measured the dewaxing efficiency and change in the various properties such as tensile strength, folding endurance, color and brightness. Also, an artificial aging test was executed in order to investigate the effect of soxhlet extraction on the preservability of the dewaxed paper. As the result of FT-IR analysis, a peak area of CH and COOH group, which are main band of beeswax, was decreased or removed after soxhlet extraction. The decreasing rate of each peaks were increased depending on reflux time. After dewaxing, the physical property such as MIT type folding endurance and tensile strength was decreased. And $L^*$ value and brightness were increased while $a^*$ and $b^*$ value were decreased due to the remove of color compounds in beeswax. The more color deviation (${\Delta}E$) is expected with higher reflux times. As the result of artificial aging, preservability of two dewaxed papers except of DP_SE(C) sample was higher than that of untreated paper i.e. beeswax-treated paper.
AlGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs pseudomorphic structures have been grown by atmosheric pressure-MOCVD . The Al incorporation efficiency is constant but slightly exceeds the Ga incorporation during the growth of AlGaAs layers at $650^{\circ}C$ . Meanwhile , the In incorporation efficiency is constant but slightly less than the Ga incorporation in InGAAs layers. InGaAs/GaAs QWs were grown and their optical properties were characterized . $\delta$-doped Al0.24Ga0.76As/In0.16 Ga0.84As p-HEMT structures were successfully grown by MOCVD and their transport properties were characterized by Hall effect and SdH measurements. SdH Measurements at 3.7K show clear magnetoresistance oscillations and plateaus in the quantum Hall effect confirming the existence of a two-dimensional electron gas(2DEG) and a parallel conduction through the GaAs buffer layer. The fabricated $1.5\mu\textrm{m}$gatelength p-HEMTs having p-type GaAs in the buffer layer show a high transconductance of 200 mS/mm and a good pinch-off characteristics.
The only hardness of 2nd phase of martensite in dual phase steel which was composed of the martensite and ferrite was changed. Fatigue test was conducted by cantilever type of self-made rotated bending fatigue testing machine. The corrosion fatigue fracture behaviors of dual phase steel were investigated in 3% NaCl solution at $N_f$ = $1.5\times$$10^5$$N_f$=1.0 $\times$$10^6$ cycles. The fatigue strength was increased with increasing the hardness of 2nd phase. The size and number of corrsion pits were influenced by the 2nd phase hardness and pits remain constant in size just after they were transited into cracks. The life of crack initiation was effected by stress level. The shape of relation of $\Delta$K and da/dn has smaller scattering in it in 3% NaCl solution than that in air. The higher the 2nd phase hardness is, the higher the corrosion fatigue life becomes. Corrosion fatigue fracture behavior was effected by mechanics in case of $N_f$=1.5$\times$10$^5$$N_f$=1.5$\times$10$^6$ cycles.
A wind tunnel study has been carried out to determine the influence of spacing between buildings on wind characteristics above rural and suburban type of terrain. Experiments were performed for two types of buildings, three-floor family houses and five-floor apartment buildings. The atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) models were generated by means of the Counihan method using a castellated barrier wall, vortex generators and a fetch of roughness elements. A hot wire anemometry system was applied for measurement of mean velocity and velocity fluctuations. The mean velocity profiles are in good agreement with the power law for exponent values from ${\alpha}=0.15$ to ${\alpha}=0.24$, which is acceptable for the representation of the rural and suburban ABL, respectively. Effects of the spacing density among buildings on wind characteristics range from the ground up to $0.6{\delta}$. As the spacing becomes smaller, the mean flow is slowed down, whilst, simultaneously, the turbulence intensity and absolute values of the Reynolds stress increase due to the increased friction between the surface and the air flow. This results in a higher ventilation efficiency as the increased retardation of horizontal flow simultaneously accompanies an intensified vertical transfer of momentum.
Microstructure of the bell made with Cu-Sn alloys was examined by optical and scanning electron microscope and that analyzed quantitatively with image analyzer. Also acoustic characteristics of the bells were measured in detail by using FFT type power spectrum analyzer. ${\alpha}-single$ phases of large grains only were observed in Cu-5%Sn alloy. However mixed structure of primary ${\alpha}-phase$ and eutectoid of ${\alpha}+{\delta}%_o$ was existed in the Cu-Sn alloys with more than 9%Sn. Also the area fraction of eutectoid phases gradually increased with an increased Sn content. From the result of acoustic test, it was found that frequency and tonal intensity decreased with the increased Sn content from 5%Sn to 11%Sn, and those were rather increased with further increase of that. The lowest frequency and tonal intensity were showed in Cu-11%Sn, and porosity decreased considerably frequency and tonal intensity of the bells.
