Delayed hydride cracking (DHC) is an important failure mechanism for Zircaloy tubes in the demanding environment of nuclear reactors. The threshold stress intensity factor, $K_{IH}$, and critical hydride length, $l_C$, are important parameters to evaluate DHC. Theoretical models of them are developed for Zircaloy tubes undergoing non-homogenous temperature loading, with new stress distributions ahead of the crack tip and thermal stresses involved. A new stress distribution in the plastic zone ahead of the crack tip is proposed according to the fracture mechanics theory of second-order estimate of plastic zone size. The developed models with fewer fitting parameters are validated with the experimental results for $K_{IH}$ and $l_C$. The research results for radial cracking cases indicate that a better agreement for $K_{IH}$ can be achieved; the negative axial thermal stresses can lessen $K_{IH}$ and enlarge the critical hydride length, so its effect should be considered in the safety evaluation and constraint design for fuel rods; the critical hydride length $l_C$ changes slightly in a certain range of stress intensity factors, which interprets the phenomenon that the DHC velocity varies slowly in the steady crack growth stage. Besides, the sensitivity analysis of model parameters demonstrates that an increase in yield strength of zircaloy will result in a decrease in the critical hydride length $l_C$, and $K_{IH}$ will firstly decrease and then have a trend to increase with the yield strength of Zircaloy; higher fracture strength of hydrided zircaloy will lead to very high values of threshold stress intensity factor and critical hydride length at higher temperatures, which might be the main mechanism of crack arrest for some Zircaloy materials.

An experimental investigation of the fatigue through crack growth behavior under simple stepped variable loading condition has been performed using Al7075-T651. Experiments were carried out by using cantilever bending type specimens, with chevron notches on a small electro-magnetic test machine. Tensile overloads have a retarding effect on the fatigue crack growth rates, therefore tensile overloads were used for the beneficial effect on the fatigue life. While in most cases compressive overloads have only a vanishing effect on crack growth rates, some experiments with single edge crack tension specimens reveal a marked growth retardation. The stress ratios used in this investigations varies from R=0.32 to 0.81, from R=0.04 to 0.76, from R=-0.15 to 0.73, and from R=-0.33 to 0.68 and the peak load for each case was not varied. The crack growth and crack closure were measured by Kikukawa's compliance method with a strain gauge mounted on the backside of each specimens. The results obtained are as follows. When the stepped variable load was applied, the smaller the stress ration was, the larger the delayed retardation of the crack growth rate was. The fatigue crack growh rate data obtained for through cracks were plotted well against the effective stress intensity factor range from 4.0 to 20.0MP{a^{SQRT}m}. It was found that the effective stress intensity factor range ratio was related well to the opening stress intensity factor, the maximum stress intensity factor, and crack length.
The steady shear flow properties of vaseline generally used as a base of the pharmaceutical dosage forms were studied in the consideration of wall slip phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to show that how slip may affect the experimental steady-state flow curves of semisolid ointment bases and to discuss the ways to eliminate (or minimize) wall slip effect in a rotational rheometer. Using both a strain-controlled ARES rheometer and a stress-controlled AR1000 rheometer, the steady shear flow behavior was investigated with various experimental conditions ; the surface roughness, sample preparation, plate diameter, gap size, shearing time, and loading methods were varied. A stress-controlled rheometer was suitable for investigating the flow behavior of semisolid ointment bases which show severe wall slip effects. In the conditions of parallel plates attached with sand paper, treated sample, smaller diameter fixture, larger gap size, shorter shearing time, and normal force control loading method, the wall slip effects could be minimized. A critical shear stress for the onset of slip was extended to above 10,000 dyne/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The wall slip effects could not be perfectly eliminated by any experimental conditions. However, the slip was delayed to higher value of shear stress by selecting proper fixture properties and experimental conditions.

VOC mixture was fed to a trickle bed air biofilter (TBAB) with step-change in influent mixture concentrations from 50 ppmv to 1,000 ppmv, corresponding to loadings of $5.7\;g/m^3/hr$ to $114.1\;g/m^3/hr$. VOC mixture was an equimolar ratio of two aromatic VOCs, i.e., toluene and styrene, and two oxygenated VOCs, i.e., methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK). The TBAB system employed backwashing as biomass control. The experimental results showed that a critical loading rate for VOC mixture removal was determined to be about $60\;g/m^3/hr$, and critical loading rates for individual VOCs in the mixture were different. Specifically, toluene content in the mixture played a major role in the biofilter overall performance. As VOC mixture was fed beyond the critical loading rate, reacclimation of the biofilter to reach the 99% removal efficiency following backwashing was delayed, which was a critical factor in the biofilter performance. In the mass balance analysis, 63.8% of the carbon equivalent in VOCs removal was used for $CO_2$ production during the experimental runs. The 82.6% nitrogen utilized in the biofilter was contributed to microbial cell synthesis. The obtained results were compared against consistently high efficient performance of TBAB for VOC mixture by employing backwashing as biomass control.
Multiuser communication has been an important research area of underwater acoustic communications and networking. This paper studies the use of adaptive orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) in a downlink scenario, where a central node sends data to multiple distributed nodes simultaneously. In practical implementations, the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) cannot be perfectly known by the central node in time-varying underwater acoustic (UWA) channels, due to the long propagation delays resulting from the low sound speed. In this paper, we explore the CSI feedback for resource allocation. An adaptive power-bit loading algorithm is presented, which assigns subcarriers to different users and allocates power and bits to each subcarrier, aiming to minimize the bit error rate (BER) under power and throughput constraints. Simulation results show considerable performance gains due to adaptive subcarrier allocation and further improvement through power and bit loading, as compared to the non-adaptive interleave subcarrier allocation scheme. In a lake experiment, channel feedback reduction is implemented through subcarrier clustering and uniform quantization. Although the performance gains are not as large as expected, experiment results confirm that adaptive subcarrier allocation schemes based on delayed channel feedback or long term statistics outperform the interleave subcarrier allocation scheme.

This prospective study was designed to compare clinical outcomes of immediately loaded implant with delayed loaded implant in partially posterior edentulous patients. For test group, 42 GS III (Osstem, Korea) implants in 17 patients were loaded within 48 hours after the placement. Control group was 27 implants in 15 patients loaded at $2.6{\pm}1.7months$ from the placement surgery. Before loading, primary stability was evaluated by ISQ value. Clinical symptoms, mobility, soft tissue state was evaluated at baseline, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months of loading. Marginal bone level change was also measured with periapical radiographs. Mann-Whitney test (${\alpha}$=0.05) and repeated measured ANOVA (${\alpha}$=0.05) was used for marginal bone level change between two groups. At the baseline, mean ISQ value of test group and control group was $80.3{\pm}7.1$ and $69{\pm}17$ respectively. Test group showed 95.23% of success rate and 100% of control group was successful. At 3 and 6months of loading, significantly more bone resorption was observed in test group than in control group (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the bone level change at 12months of loading between two groups (p>0.05). Marginal bone level change showed no significant difference with gender and location (p>0.05). Within the limitation of this study, when primary stability was obtained, immediate loading of GS III implant at posterior region could be predictable treatment option.
The container terminals use convergence technology that exchange information for cargo work, using wireless communication between the TOS(Terminal Operations System) and the handling equipments(CC, TC, YT). But if the container cargoes pile up high in the container yard, delayed cargo work and cargo working list information error happen because of communication dead spots(the worker can not receive the information) which wireless communication is disconnected. At this time the driver of the yard tractor(YT) must be able to recognize the communication state. If then, delayed cargo work and cargo working list information errors that occur in the shaded communication area can be avoided, and can process the delayed work due to wireless communication break. In this project, we have built wireless communication environment to increase the efficiency of the loading and unloading operations which the operator can respond actively, when the work is delayed and work orders result in errors. That is, the flow of the wireless communication module has been changed.
Lately, there are actively proceeding in making a plan for subway construction, a high-speed railway construction and a expansion of road and also all kinds of large-scaled construction in Korea. Construction works were delayed from noises and vibrations occurred by usage of a large-sized construction equipments and driven and also blast or there were often stopped from them under construction. Therefore, this study was modeling operation of the cyclic loading and conforming effects from grasping displacement-changing method through a variable analysis.
Currently the technique of composite material field is developed day by day. The many kinds industrial facility and life articles are coming to make with the composite material. But still the engineering works field the building and the bridge uses the material which is old era and is making. To here there is a various problem but the biggest problem the theory of the composite material is complicated too and means that the application is been delayed about constructive structure. When the composite material is used widely from constructive field, too with difficult theory in technical expert and easily with the research for the experiment data accumulation is necessary. The tensile and fatigue test of the carbon/epoxy which is a high-class composite material led from the present paper consequently and the change of the intensity coefficient which follows in repeated load researched.
Steady state flow calculations are executed for turbo-pump inducers of modern design to validate the performance of Tascflow code. Hydrodynamic performance of inducers is evaluated and structure of the passage flow and leading edge recirculation are also investigated. Calculated results show good coincidence with experimental data of static pressure performance and velocity profiles over the leading edge. Upstream recirculation, tip leakage and vortex flow at the blade tip and near leading edge are main sources of pressure loss. Amount of pressure loss from the upstream to the leading edge corresponds to that of whole pressure loss through the blade passage. The viscous loss is considerably large due to the strong secondary flow. There appears more stronger leading edge recirculation for the backswept inducer, and this increases the pressure loss. However, blade loading near the leading edge is considerably reduced and cavitation inception delayed.
