  • In a climate change environment where heat damage and drought occur during a rainy season such as in 2018, a vegetation-based LID system that enables disaster prevention as well as environment improvement is suggested in lieu of an installation-type LID system that is limited to the prevention of floods. However, the quantification of its performance as against construction cost is limited. This study aims to present an experiment environment and evaluation method on quantitative performance, which is required in order to disseminate the vegetation-based LID system. To this end, a 3rd quartile huff time distribution mass curve was generated for 20-year frequency, 60-minute probable rainfall of 68mm/hr in Cheonan, and effluent was analyzed by recreating artificial rainfall. In order to assess the reliability of the rainfall event simulator, 10 repeat tests were conducted at one-minute intervals for 20 minutes with minimum rainfall intensity of 22.29mm/hr and the maximum rainfall intensity of 140.69mm/hr from the calculated probable rainfall. Effective rainfall as against influent flow was 21.83mm/hr (sd=0.17~1.36, n=20) on average at the minimum rainfall intensity and 142.27mm/hr (sd=1.02~3.25, n=20) on average at the maximum rainfall intensity. In artificial rainfall recreation experiments repeated for three times, the most frequent quartile was found to be the third quartile, which is around 40 minutes after beginning the experiment. The peak flow was observed 70 minutes after beginning the experiment in the experiment zone and after 50 minutes in the control zone. While the control zone recorded the maximum runoff intensity of 2.26mm/min(sd=0.25) 50 minutes after beginning the experiment, the experiment zone recorded the maximum runoff intensity of 0.77mm/min (sd=0.15) 70 minutes after beginning the experiment, which is 20 minutes later than the control zone. Also, the maximum runoff intensity of the experiment zone was 79.6% lower than that of the control zone, which confirmed that vegetation unit-type LID system had rainfall runoff reduction and delay effects. Based on the above findings, the reliability of a lab-level rainfall simulator for monitoring the vegetation-based LID system was reviewed, and maximum runoff intensity reduction and runoff time delay were confirmed. As a result, the study presented a performance evaluation method that can be applied to the pre-design of the vegetation-based LID system for rainfall events on a location before construction.

  • Recently due to the increase of cars and city life, the traffic congestion has worsened. It Is particularly worse in the center of the metropolis. Within the general public means, the public transport buses have the advantage of being more cheap, accessible and mobile. But as there is no separate lane for buses, the collision of cars and buses are creating damage to public service. In order to solve this situation, the bus priority signal system has been introduced to reduce the bus travel time and improve its services. The purpose of this study is to establish bus priority signal algorithm which builds bus efficiency under the real-time traffic signal control system and to analyze the effect of it. As the green time was calculated against real time (under the real-time traffic signal control system), compared to existing bus priority signal there was a reduction in cross street loss. The modified cycle was used to maintain signal progression. A case study was carried out using VISSIM simulation model. In result of this study, we found that there was a decrease in bus travel time despite some evidence of car delays and compared to existing bus priority signal the delay of dishonor could be reduced dramatically. The analysed result of person delay using MOE, is that there is evidence that when bus priority signal is in effect, the person delay is reduced.

  • By increasing trades between countries, importance of harbors is becoming serious, including our country. When it comes to Container Crane Operation, the most important matter is how many containers are loaded in a truck or a ship by given time. This can be a crucial matter of harbors in taking care of materials. The present harbors' crane uses a wire-rope conveyance materials are transported in the air and have high free-angle of location. The sway can cause the delay of time, wrong position of Trolley and the damage of materials. In this study, we obtain the optimal PID parameters with GA(Genetic Algorithm) and apply those parameters to the PID Controller. In the result of the experimentation, we can see how effectively the PID controller, applied with the optimal parameters obtained by GA, can control the sway angle.

  • The changeable stress environment directly affect the propagation law of a stress wave. Stress wave propagation tests in sandstone with different axial stresses were carried using a modified split Hopkinson Pressure bar (SHPB) assuming the sandstone has a uniform pore distribution. Then the waveform and stress wave energy dissipation were analyzed. The results show that the stress wave exhibits the double peak phenomenon. With increasing axial stress, the intensity difference decreases exponentially and experiences first a dramatic decrease and then gentle development. The demarcation stress is σ/σc=30%, indicating that the closer to the incident end, the faster the intensity difference attenuates. Under the same axial stress, the intensity difference decreases linearly with propagation distance and its attenuation intensity factor displays a quadratic function with axial stress. With increasing propagation distance, the time difference decays linearly and its delay coefficient reflects the damage degree. The stress wave energy attenuates exponentially with propagation distance, and the relations between attenuation rate, attenuation coefficient and axial stress can be represented by the quadratic function.

  • Many formation guidance laws have been proposed for VAV formation flight. Since most autonomous formation flight methods require various active communication links between the vehicles to know motion information of other vehicles, damage to the receiver or the transmitter and communication delay are critical problem to achieve a given formation flight mission. Therefore, in this point of view, the method that does not need an inter-vehicle communication is preferred in the autonomous formation flight. In this paper, we first summarize the formation guidance law without an inter-vehicle communication using feedback linearization and sliding mode control proposed in previous study. We also propose the modified formation guidance law with robust disturbance observer, which can provide significantly better performance than previously mentioned guidance law in case that other vehicles maneuver with large accelerations. The robust disturbance observer can estimate uncertainties generated by acceleration of leader vehicle. By eliminating the uncertainties using the estimated uncertainties, VAVs are able to achieve the tight formation flight. The performance of the proposed approach is validated by numerical simulations.

  • Recently, data analysis research has been carried out using the deep learning technique in various fields such as image interpretation and/or classification. Various types of algorithms are being developed for many applications. In this paper, we propose a precipitation prediction algorithm based on deep learning with high accuracy in order to take care of the possible severe damage caused by climate change. Since the geographical and seasonal characteristics of Korea are clearly distinct, the meteorological factors have repetitive patterns in a time series. Since the LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) is a powerful algorithm for consecutive data, it was used to predict precipitation in this study. For the numerical test, we calculated the PWV (Precipitable Water Vapor) based on the tropospheric delay of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals, and then applied the deep learning technique to the precipitation prediction. The GNSS data was processed by scientific software with the troposphere model of Saastamoinen and the Niell mapping function. The RMSE (Root Mean Squared Error) of the precipitation prediction based on LSTM performs better than that of ANN (Artificial Neural Network). By adding GNSS-based PWV as a feature, the over-fitting that is a latent problem of deep learning was prevented considerably as discussed in this study.

  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is comprised of a heterogeneous group of several disease subtypes that are characterized by the onset of arthritis before the age of 16 years and has symptoms lasting at least 6 weeks. The previous classification of JIA included seven different categories, whereas its current classification was compiled by the International League of the Association for Rheumatology, and replaced the previous terms of "juvenile chronic arthritis" and "juvenile rheumatoid arthritis," which were used in Europe or North America, respectively, with the single nomenclature of JIA. As mentioned above, JIA is defined as arthritis of unknown etiology that manifests itself before the age of 16 years and persists for at least 6 weeks, while excluding other known conditions. The clinical symptoms of JIA can be quite variable. Several symptoms that are characteristic of arthritis are not necessarily diagnostic of JIA and may have multiple etiologies that can be differentiated with careful examination of patient history. The disease may develop over days or sometimes weeks, thereby making the diagnosis difficult at the time of presentation. To make a clinical diagnosis of JIA, the first step is to exclude arthritis with known etiologies. Of note, late treatment due to excessive delay of diagnosis can cause severe damage to joints and other organs and impair skeletal maturation. Therefore, early detection of JIA is critical to ensure prompt treatment and to prevent long-term complications including the likelihood of disability in childhood.

  • Arsenic exposure is associated with several human diseases, including cancers, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and cerebrovascular diseases. In cultured cells, arsenite, an inorganic arsenic com-pound, was demonstrated to interfere with many physiological functions, such as enhancement of oxidative stress, delay of cell cycle progression, and induction of structural and numerical changes of chromosomes. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of arsenic exposure on gene expression profiles by colorimetric cDNA microarray technique. HFW (normal human diploid skin fibroblasts), CL3 (human lung adenocarcinoma cell line), and HaCaT (immortalized human keratinocyte cell line) were treated with 5 $\mu\textrm{M}$ or 10 $\mu\textrm{M}$ sodium arsenite for 6 or 16 h, respectively. By a dual-color detection system, the expression profile of arsenite-treated cultures was compared to that of control cultures. Several genes expressed differentially were identified on the microarray membranes. For example, MDM2, SWI/SNF, ubiquitin specific protease 4, MAP3K11, RecQ protein-like 5, and Ribosomal protein Ll0a were consistently induced in all three cell types by arsenite, whereas prohibitin, cyclin D1, nucleolar protein 1, PCNA, Nm23, and immediate early protein (ETR101) were apparently inhibited. The present results suggest that arsenite insults altered the expression of several genes participating in cellular responses to DNA damage, stress, transcription, and cell cycle arrest.

  • The record type receivers that are operated in large industrial sites have strength in preventing fire. However, because of its long circuit lines and multiple detectors, the receivers are vulnerable to lightning, noise, and breakdown of equipments, resulting in malfunction. In case of malfunctioning of detection circuits of main protection areas, such as electrical room and server room, potential release of gaseous extinguisher agents may lead to property and life damage. In this paper, we present the results on the characteristics of the transponder that initiates the solenoid valves, with respect to various electromagnetic and lightning inflow conditions. Based on the measured data, we analyzed the systematic problems of the transponder. In order to prevent receiver malfunctions, a sequential circuit was configured with two additional transponders and a timer. The circuit was tested with a simulator with preference and delay circuit algorithms.

  • In the paper, we investigate the impact of handoff on the packet delivery in the Mobile IPv6 networks, where the smooth handoff is adopted. That is measured by an 'unstable time period (UTP)', a 'silence time period(STP)', and a 'handoff time period (HTP)' in the mobile node's perspective. Then, we propose a queuing model to get the exact value of the handoff transient time. The numerical results show that the queuing delay for the handoff packets and the involved link (or route) capacities affect the estimated UTP, STP, and HTP. On the other hand, the damage of application caused by handoff will increases when the handoff transient time becomes longer. We show that the priority scheduling method can achieve shorter STP and UP than the FIFO scheduling method that is generally used in best-effort IP network.
