Detecting shadows in images and restoring or removing them was a very challenging task in computer vision. Traditional researches used color information, edges, and thresholds to detect shadows, but there were errors such as not considering the penumbra area of shadow or even detecting a black area that is not a shadow. Deep learning has been successful in various fields of computer vision, and research on applying deep learning has started in the field of shadow detection and removal. However, it was very difficult and time-consuming to collect data for network learning, and there were many limited conditions for shooting. In particular, it was more difficult to obtain shadow data from buildings and satellite images, which hindered the progress of the research. In this paper, we propose a method for generating shadow data from buildings and satellites using Unity3D. In the virtual Unity space, 3D objects existing in the real world were placed, and shadows were generated using lights effects to shoot. Through this, it is possible to get all three types of images (shadow-free, shadow image, shadow mask) necessary for shadow detection and removal when training deep learning networks. The method proposed in this paper contributes to helping the progress of the research by providing big data in the field of building or satellite shadow detection and removal research, which is difficult for learning deep learning networks due to the absence of data. And this can be a suboptimal method. We believe that we have contributed in that we can apply virtual data to test deep learning networks before applying real data.
The drowsiness that occurs in the driving is a very dangerous driver condition that can be directly linked to a major accident. In order to prevent drowsiness, there are traditional drowsiness detection methods to grasp the driver's condition, but there is a limit to the generalized driver's condition recognition that reflects the individual characteristics of drivers. In recent years, deep learning based state recognition studies have been proposed to recognize drivers' condition. Deep learning has the advantage of extracting features from a non-human machine and deriving a more generalized recognition model. In this study, we propose a more accurate state recognition model than the existing deep learning method by learning image and PPG at the same time to grasp driver's condition. This paper confirms the effect of driver's image and PPG data on drowsiness detection and experiment to see if it improves the performance of learning model when used together. We confirmed the accuracy improvement of around 3% when using image and PPG together than using image alone. In addition, the multimodal deep learning based model that classifies the driver's condition into three categories showed a classification accuracy of 96%.

Legacy studies for classifying arrhythmia have been studied to improve the accuracy of classification, Neural Network, Fuzzy, etc. Deep learning is most frequently used for arrhythmia classification using error backpropagation algorithm by solving the limit of hidden layer number, which is a problem of neural network. In order to apply a deep learning model to an ECG signal, it is necessary to select an optimal model and parameters. In this paper, we propose optimal parameter extraction method based on a deep learning. For this purpose, R-wave is detected in the ECG signal from which noise has been removed, QRS and RR interval segment is modelled. And then, the weights were learned by supervised learning method through deep learning and the model was evaluated by the verification data. The detection and classification rate of R wave and PVC is evaluated through MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The performance results indicate the average of 99.77% in R wave detection and 97.84% in PVC classification.
Image classification through deep learning on the image from photographs has been a very active research field for the past several years. In this paper, we propose a method of automatically discriminating stone images from domestic source through deep learning, which is to use Python's hash library to scan 300×300 pixel photo images of granites such as Hwangdeungseok, Goheungseok, and Pocheonseok, performing data preprocessing to create learning images by examining duplicate images for each stone, removing duplicate images with the same hash value as a result of the inspection, and deep learning by stone. In addition, to utilize VGGNet, the size of the images for each stone is resized to 224×224 pixels, learned in VGG16 where the ratio of training and verification data for learning is 80% versus 20%. After training of deep learning, the loss function graph and the accuracy graph were generated, and the prediction results of the deep learning model were output for the three kinds of stone images.

Renewable energy is receiving attention again as a way to realize carbon neutrality to overcome the climate change crisis. Among renewable energy sources, the installation of Photovoltaic is continuously increasing, and as of 2020, the global cumulative installation amount is about 590 GW and the domestic cumulative installation amount is about 17 GW. Accordingly, O&M technology that can analyze the power generation and fault diagnose about PV plants the is required. In this paper, a study was conducted to diagnose fault using I-V curves of PV strings and deep learning. In order to collect the fault I-V curves for learning in the deep learning, faults were simulated. It is partial shade and voltage mismatch, and I-V curves were measured on a sunny day. A two-step data pre-processing technique was applied to minimize variations depending on PV string capacity, irradiance, and PV module temperature, and this was used for learning and validation of deep learning. From the results of the study, it was confirmed that the PV fault diagnosis using I-V curves and deep learning is possible.
The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its cost are increasing due to lifestyle changes and aging. This study aimed to develop a deep neural network model for prediction and classification of MetS according to nutrient intake and other MetS-related factors. This study included 17,848 individuals aged 40-69 years from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2018). We set MetS (3-5 risk factors present) as the dependent variable and 52 MetS-related factors and nutrient intake variables as independent variables in a regression analysis. The analysis compared and analyzed model accuracy, precision and recall by conventional logistic regression, machine learning-based logistic regression and deep learning. The accuracy of train data was 81.2089, and the accuracy of test data was 81.1485 in a MetS classification and prediction model developed in this study. These accuracies were higher than those obtained by conventional logistic regression or machine learning-based logistic regression. Precision, recall, and F1-score also showed the high accuracy in the deep learning model. Blood alanine aminotransferase (β = 12.2035) level showed the highest regression coefficient followed by blood aspartate aminotransferase (β = 11.771) level, waist circumference (β = 10.8555), body mass index (β = 10.3842), and blood glycated hemoglobin (β = 10.1802) level. Fats (cholesterol [β = -2.0545] and saturated fatty acid [β = -2.0483]) showed high regression coefficients among nutrient intakes. The deep learning model for classification and prediction on MetS showed a higher accuracy than conventional logistic regression or machine learning-based logistic regression.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to create a deep learning model to distinguish between nasopalatine duct cysts (NDCs), radicular cysts, and no-lesions (normal) in the midline region of the anterior maxilla on panoramic radiographs and to compare its performance with that of dental residents. Materials and Methods: One hundred patients with a confirmed diagnosis of NDC (53 men, 47 women; average age, 44.6±16.5 years), 100 with radicular cysts (49 men, 51 women; average age, 47.5±16.4 years), and 100 with normal groups (56 men, 44 women; average age, 34.4±14.6 years) were enrolled in this study. Cases were randomly assigned to the training datasets (80%) and the test dataset (20%). Then, 20% of the training data were randomly assigned as validation data. A learning model was created using a customized DetectNet built in Digits version 5.0 (NVIDIA, Santa Clara, USA). The performance of the deep learning system was assessed and compared with that of two dental residents. Results: The performance of the deep learning system was superior to that of the dental residents except for the recall of radicular cysts. The areas under the curve (AUCs) for NDCs and radicular cysts in the deep learning system were significantly higher than those of the dental residents. The results for the dental residents revealed a significant difference in AUC between NDCs and normal groups. Conclusion: This study showed superior performance in detecting NDCs and radicular cysts and in distinguishing between these lesions and normal groups.
Detecting objects is important for the safe operation of ships, and enables collision avoidance, risk detection, and autonomous sailing. This study proposes a ship detection method from images and videos taken at sea using one of the state-of-the-art deep neural network-based object detection algorithms. A deep learning model is trained using a public maritime dataset, and results show it can detect all types of floating objects and classify them into ten specific classes that include a ship, speedboat, and buoy. The proposed deep learning model is compared to a universal trained model that detects and classifies objects into general classes, such as a person, dog, car, and boat, and results show that the proposed model outperforms the other in the detection of maritime objects. Different deep neural network structures are then compared to obtain the best detection performance. The proposed model also shows a real-time detection speed of approximately 30 frames per second. Hence, it is expected that the proposed model can be used to detect maritime objects and reduce risks while at sea.

Machine-learning systems have proven their worth in various industries, including healthcare and banking, by assisting in the extraction of valuable inferences. Information in these crucial sectors is traditionally stored in databases distributed across multiple environments, making accessing and extracting data from them a tough job. To this issue, we must add that these data sources contain sensitive information, implying that the data cannot be shared outside of the head. Using cryptographic techniques, Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning (PPML) helps solve this challenge, enabling information discovery while maintaining data privacy. In this paper, we talk about how to keep your data mining private. Because Data mining has a wide variety of uses, including business intelligence, medical diagnostic systems, image processing, web search, and scientific discoveries, and we discuss privacy-preserving in deep learning because deep learning (DL) exhibits exceptional exactitude in picture detection, Speech recognition, and natural language processing recognition as when compared to other fields of machine learning so that it detects the existence of any error that may occur to the data or access to systems and add data by unauthorized persons.

In Deep Learning method, it is well known that it requires large amount of data to train the deep neural network. And it also requires the labeling of each data to fully train the neural network, which means that experts should spend lots of time to provide the labeling. To alleviate the problem of time-consuming labeling process, some methods have been suggested such as weak-supervised method, one-shot learning, self-supervised, suggestive learning, and so on. In this manuscript, those methods are analyzed and its possible future direction of the research is suggested.
