  • The most distinctive feature of the costumes of the Arctic regions from Alaska to Siberia centering around the Bering Sea connecting Asia to North America, is that each tribe makes clothes adequate to the climate and their lifestyles with animal hides obtained from hunting in their habitation. Furs or fish skins, the main materials for clothing, are characteristically cut into many pieces, and thus piece-joining patchwork is used to make or decorate garments. Patchwork is the technique that can create new designs with 3-dimensional and various combinations by modifying the simple materials, and also has the advantage of fitting the body without a certain cut line. Therefore, the patchwork found in the Arctic costumes may be developed from folk costume designs with limited materials like fur into new ones for modern or future costumes.

  • $cdc103^+$ gene in Schizosaccharomyces pombe which is similar to the CDC3 gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was cloned and sequenced. Comparison of the predicted amino acid sequences of $cdc103^+$ and CDC3 revealed that they share significant similarity (43% identity and 56% identity or similarity) to each other. The gene product of CDC3 in S. cerevisiae is known to be a highly ordered ring of filaments that lies just inside the cytoplasmic membrane in the region of the mother-bud neck. In order to characterize the gene product of $cdc103^+$ in Schizosaccharomyces pombe, fusion proteins were used to generate the polyclonal antibodies specific for the gene product (cdc103p). In immunofluorescence experiments, these antibodies decorate the region of the septum formation as a double ring structure late in the cell division cycle.

This bed system was not designed only for a certain age group of children but also for various age groups of children, since each parts of the bed can be sued separately. • The goal of this paper is to explore the relationship between modern architecture and interior decoration through the study of decoration and ornament. It is noteworthy that modern architecture and interior decoration occurred at about the same time. Our analysis shows that the two are closely related to each other. That is to say, modern architecture tried to eliminate ornaments (and decorations), symbols and meanings from the built environments and to embody efficiency and rationality instead. However, in the interior of the building designed and completed by the architect, the user began to decorate his world through decoration or to refer such work to the new expert 'interior decorator'. In a word, the latter took charge of the role deserted by modern architecture.
