교량상 slab궤도의 상향력 민감도분석 (Parameteric Analysis for Up-lifting force on Slab track of Bridge)

  • The vertical forces in rail fasteners at areas of bridge transitions near the embankment and on the pier will occur due to different deformations of adjoining bridges caused by the trainloads, the settlement of supports, and the temperature gradients. The up-lifting forces is not large problem in the blast track because the elasticity of blast and rail pad buffs up-lifting effect. But, it is likely to be difficult to ensure the serviceability of the railway and the safety of the fastener in the end in that concrete slab track consist of rail, fastener, and track in a single body, delivering directly the up-lifting force to the fastener if the deck is bended because of various load cases, such as the end rotation of the overhang due to the vertical load, the bending of pier due to acceleration/braking force and temperature deviation, the settlement of embankment and pier, the temperature deviation of up-down deck and front-back pier, and the rail deformation due to wheel loads. The analysis of the rail fastener is made to verify the superposed tension forces in the rail fastener due to various load cases, temperature gradients and settlement of supports. The potential critical fasteners with the highest uplift forces are the fastener adjacent to the civil joint. The main influence factors are the geometry of the bridge such as, the beneath length of overhang, relative position of bridge bearing and fastener, deflection of bridge and the vertical spring stiffness of the fastener.

Investigation of torsion, warping and distortion of large container ships

  • Large deck openings of ultra large container ships reduce their torsional stiffness considerably and hydroelastic analysis for reliable structural design becomes an imperative. In the early design stage the beam model coupled with 3D hydrodynamic model is a rational choice. The modal superposition method is ordinary used for solving this complex problem. The advanced thin-walled girder theory, with shear influence on both bending and torsion, is applied for calculation of dry natural modes. It is shown that relatively short engine room structure of large container ships behaves as the open hold structure with increased torsional stiffness due to deck effect. Warping discontinuity at the joint of the closed and open segments is compensated by induced distortion. The effective torsional stiffness parameters based on an energy balance approach are determined. Estimation of distortion of transverse bulkheads, as a result of torsion and warping, is given. The procedure is illustrated in the case of a ship-like pontoon and checked by 3D FEM analysis. The obtained results encourage incorporation of the modified beam model of the short engine room structure in general beam model of ship hull for the need of hydroelastic analysis, where only the first few natural modes are of interest.

  • The concrete track is being used at the Phase II of the Kyeongbu High Speed Railway and New Constructed Honam High Speed Railway. When it makes a decision of bridge type, It has to consider about longitudinal forces of Continuous Welded Rail, Displacement at the end of bridges, Up-lift forces for fastener on the track. If it is installed turnout on the bridge, There is likelihood of the deck twist by applying the each difference longitudinal forces at the 4 each rails and the buckling by concentration of rail stress at the turnout. Moreover, If it is installed turnout on the continuous bridge and REJ(Rail Expansion Joint) on the main track or turnout track. It is hard to keep a safety for rail because of coming to twist or folding at the expansion of deck on the turnout track. Therefore when it is a design of bridge with turnout. It need to take bridge type to minimize an additional axial force and a displacement at the turnout. This paper makes a study of the composite steel arch bridge that is able to resolve criteria requirements of safety for track with turnout and suggest a helpful design method for bridge considering track with turnout by being based on design and construction method of Eonyang Bridge at the north part of Ulsan Station in Phase II of the Kyeongbu High Speed Railway.

  • The container mobilization of material resources has increased continually owing to international economy growth and overseas trade increase in recent years. There are large amounts of order received for container carriers which are the biggest in the world ranging from 8,000 TEU to 10,000 TEU or above The very large container carriers have minimum thickness of sheer strake, upper deck and hatch coaming about $65mm{\sim}90mm$. Therefore, this study is performed in order to develop vertical welding process with high deposition rates applicable to thick plate above 65mm thickness. Electrogas welding process with 1 pole and 2 poles has been developed to apply to vertical joint with thick plates in the shipyard. In this paper, it was explained that the relationship of cross section to various groove types and executed that electrogas welding for thick plates. The mechanical tests were carried out to verify the soundness and effectiveness of EGW.

  • 강바닥판 교량의 교면 포장에 $240^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 포설 되는 구스 아스팔트 가 적용되는 경우, 구조물에 발생하는 열 영향의 검토를 수행하지만, 수치해석에 적용 가능한 열원 데이터에 대한 연구는 미흡하여 단순화된 온도 하중을 절점 하중으로 사용하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 구스 아스팔트 포장 시 계측된 온도 데이터를 이용하여 비록 제한적이지만 평판요소에 직접 재하 가능한 열원 방정식을 구성하여 제시하였으며 간략한 수치해석을 통해 그 타당성을 확인하였다.

단경간 및 다경간 PSC-I 교량의 바닥판 및 거더의 균열분포 예측 (Prediction of Crack Distribution for the Deck and Girder of Single-Span and Multi-Span PSC-I Bridges)

  • 국내 고속도로 교량 중 가장 많은 비중을 차지하고 있는 PSC-I 거더교의 최근 10년간 정밀 안전진단 데이터의 상태등급을 분석한 결과 41.3%가 C등급으로 나타났다. 노후화되는 교량이 증가함에 따라 선제적 관리가 중요시되고 있다. 바닥판과 거더는 손상 및 열화 발생 시 교체 주기가 길어 교량의 서비스 및 노후도에 미치는 영향이 매우 크다. 또한 신축이음과 교량받침 등의 장치 손상 발생 비율도 높아 교량 부재에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 단경간 및 다경간 대표 PSC-I 거더 교량을 선정하여, 교량의 주요부재 및 부재 장치의 단일손상과 바닥판의 열화가 결합된 이종손상 시나리오를 정의하였다. 이종손상이 발생한 경우 단일손상이 발생한 경우보다 균열 발생 면적이 증가하였으며, 단경간 교량의 경우 교량받침 손상으로 인해 거더 균열 분포가 크게 확산되었으며, 다경간 교량의 경우 신축이음 양면손상으로 인해 바닥판의 균열분포가 크게 확산되었다. 이를 통해 교량 장치 손상이 발생하였을 때, 신속한 보수 및 교체가 이루어지지 않으면 손상 발생과 손상 확산으로 2차 피해를 유발할 수 있어, 바닥판 및 거더의 응답에 대한 지속적인 관찰과 대응이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Joint distribution of wind speed and direction in the context of field measurement

  • The joint distribution of wind speed and wind direction at a bridge site is vital to the estimation of the basic wind speed, and hence to the wind-induced vibration analysis of long-span bridges. Instead of the conventional way relying on the weather stations, this study proposed an alternate approach to obtain the original records of wind speed and the corresponding directions based on field measurement supported by the Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS). Specifically, SHMS of Sutong Cable-stayed Bridge (SCB) is utilized to study the basic wind speed with directional information. Four anemometers are installed in the SHMS of SCB: upstream and downstream of the main deck center, top of the north and south tower respectively. Using the recorded wind data from SHMS, the joint distribution of wind speed and direction is investigated based on statistical methods, and then the basic wind speeds in 10-year and 100-year recurrence intervals at these four key positions are calculated. Analytical results verify the reliability of the recorded wind data from SHMS, and indicate that the joint probability model for the extreme wind speed at SCB site fits well with the Weibull model. It is shown that the calculated basic wind speed is reduced by considering the influence of wind direction. Compared to the design basic wind speed in the Specification of China, basic wind speed considering the influence of direction or not is much smaller, indicating a high safety coefficient in the design of SCB. The results obtained in this study can provide not only references for further wind-resistance research of SCB, but also improve the understanding of the safety coefficient for wind-resistance design of other engineering structures in the similar area.

프리캐스트 콘크리트 교량바닥판 이음부 채움재의 부착특성연구 (A Study on Bond Properties of Joint Grouting Materials for Precast Concrete Bridge Decks)

  • 최근 교통량의 증가에 의해 직접 하중을 부담하는 교량바닥판의 손상이 심각한문제로 부각되고 있다. 더욱이 차량하중의 증가는 바닥판손상을 더욱 가속화시키고 있는 실정이다. 바닥판의 손상이 심한 경우에는 교체 또는 성능개선공사를 시행하게 되는데, 이때 기존의 현장타설바닥판이 갖는 단점을 보완할 수 있는 프리캐스트 콘크리트 바닥판은 공기단축, 품질확보 등의 측면에서 매우 효과적인 대체공법이 될 수 있다. 프리캐스트 콘크리트 바닥판은 기존의 현장타설바닥판과달리 바닥판간에 이음부를 갖는 구조적 특징이 있으며, 다양한응력상태에 있는 바닥판중에 존재하는 비연속부인 이음부와 콘크리트 부재사이의 원활한 하중전달을 위해 부착강도는 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이음부의 부착강도를 함리적으로 평가할 수 있는 새로운 실험방법을 제안하고 이를 이용하여 휨, 직접인장 및 전단실험을 수행하였다. 또한 구성재료에 대한 압축, 휨인장 및 할렬인장강도 특성도 평가하였 다. 부착 및 강도특성에 관한 실험결과, 제안된 실험방법을 이용하면 실제에 근접한 부착강도를 평가할 수 있으며 국내에서 사용되는 충전재료중 무수축모르터가 프리캐스트 콘크리트 바닥판간 이음부의 채움재로서의 기본요건을 만족하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Large tests of independence in incomplete two-way contingency tables using fractional imputation

  • Imputation procedures fill-in missing values, thereby enabling complete data analyses. Fully efficient fractional imputation (FEFI) and multiple imputation (MI) create multiple versions of the missing observations, thereby reflecting uncertainty about their true values. Methods have been described for hypothesis testing with multiple imputation. Fractional imputation assigns weights to the observed data to compensate for missing values. The focus of this article is the development of tests of independence using FEFI for partially classified two-way contingency tables. Wald and deviance tests of independence under FEFI are proposed. Simulations are used to compare type I error rates and Power. The partially observed marginal information is useful for estimating the joint distribution of cell probabilities, but it is not useful for testing association. FEFI compares favorably to other methods in simulations.

  • Recent increasing traffic volumes have made many bridges on highway be widened. In widening of existing bridges, construction joints between old and new parts of concrete slabs are subjected to repeated traffic loads during placing and during of concrete. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is given to investigate the variation of the shear strength of widening deck. As a result, the occurrence of cracks in vibrating specimen is faster than that of non-vibrating one, and most of cracks are occurred at new concrete. And the difference of shear strength in vibrating specimen is larger than non-vibrating one, but the difference is negligible. Also, it shows the same result about direct and non-shrinkage joint specimen test.
