  • The catalytic behavior of the manganese oxides was studied for the selective catalytic reduction with ammonia at a low temperature condition under $200^{\circ}C$. Outlet unreacted ammonia increases with decreasing temperature and increasing $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratio, however $NO_2$ shows an opposite result. $NO_2$ is generated by the adsorption of NO on the catalyst and the following oxidization to nitrates. Unreacted NH3 slip is not observed even at the $NH_3/NOx$ feed ratio above 1.0 due to the reaction between formed nitrates on the catalyst and adsorbed ammonia. The addition of Zr increases $NO_2$ generation, whereas the addition of CeO2 on the catalyst decreases $NO_2$ generation. Furthermore, the additon of the metal oxide induce DeNOx efficiency to reduce.

  • Experimental investigations on the effect of two kinds of additives ; aqueous NaOH solution and ammonia(NH$_3$) for removal of NOx and SO$_2$ simultaneously by corona discharge were carried out. The simulated combustion flue gas was[NO(0.02[%])-SO$_2$(0.08[%])-$CO_2$-Air-$N_2$] Volume percentage of aqueous NaOH solution used was 20[%] and $N_2$flow rate was 2.5[$\ell$/min] for bubbling aqueous NaOH solution Ammonia gas(14.81[%]) balanced by argon was diluted by air. NH$_3$ molecular ratios(MR) based on [NH$_3$] and [NO+SO$_2$] were 1, 1.5 and 2.5 The vapour of aqueous NaOH solution and NH$_3$was introduced to the main simulated combustion flue gas duct through injection systems which were located at downstream of corona discharge reactor. NOx(NO+NO$_2$) removal rate by injecting the vapour of aqueous NaOH solution was much better than that by injecting NH$_3$however SO$_2$removal rate by injecting NH$_3$was much better than that by injecting the vapour of aqueous NaOH SO$_2$removal rate slightly increased with increasing applied voltage. When the vapour of aqueous NaOH solution and NH$_3$were simultaneously injection NOx and SO$_2$ removal rate were significantly increased.

  • The spent RHDS (Residue HydroDeSulfurization) catalyst is deactivated mainly by deposition of various contaminants such as coke, sulfur and vanadium on the surface of catalyst. To eliminate those contaminants, the following remanufacturing process was conducted. The first, heavy oil on the surface of the spent RHDS catalyst was removed by kerosene and dehydrated. The second, the high temperature incineration was carried out to eliminate coke and sulfur components deposited on the surface of spent RHDS catalyst. The third, the excessive quantity of Vanadium deposited on the surface of catalyst was removed by leaching process as follows: ultrasonic agitation was carried out at 50℃, for 10 seconds with 0.5% and 1% oxalic acid solution. The purpose of this process is to find out regenerated RHDS catalyst can be used as SCR catalyst for NOx reduction by controlling the vanadium residual content of the regenerated RHDS catalyst through leaching process. The composition of regenerated RHDS catalyst was analyzed by XRF and the NOx reduction efficiency was also measured by continuous catalytic fixed bed reactor. As the result, regenerated catalyst, with 0.5% oxalic acid, ultrasonic agitation in 10 seconds, showed the most stable NOx reduction efficiency. Also, in comparison with commercial SCR catalyst, the NOx reduction performance of regenerated catalyst was similar to that of commercial SCR catalyst at the temperature 375℃ and higher whereas was lower than commercial SCR catalyst at the temperature range between 200~250℃. Therefore, it was confirmed that the regenerated catalyst as powder form wash coated on the surface of metal corrugated substrate can be used for commercial SCR catalyst.

  • A urea-SCR system suffers from some issues associated with the ammonia slip phenomenon, which mainly occurs because of the shortage of evaporation and thermolysis time, and this makes it difficult to achieve an uniform distribution of injected urea. A numerical study was therefore performed by changing such various parameters as installed injector angle and application and angle of mixer to enhance evaporation and the mixing of urea water solution with exhaust gases. As a result, various parameters were found to affect the evaporation and mixing characteristics between exhaust gas and urea water solution, and their optimization is required. Finally, useful guidelines were suggested to achieve the optimum design of a urea-SCR injection system for improving the DeNOx performance and reducing ammonia slip.

  • The catalytic activity of the used catalyst, $V_2O_5/TiO_2$, for MSW incinerators was investigated focusing on its regeneration. As the result of the experimental analysis, the NOx removal efficiency difference between the fresh catalyst and used catalyst is about 60% at $260^{\circ}C$ and 1, 2-dichlorobenzen (1, 2-DCB) removal efficiency difference is about 14% at $200^{\circ}C$, in honeycomb test. And the catalysts, both the fresh and used, were characterized by XRD, TGA, and ICP techniques in order to investigate the deactivation. On the basis of the results, it is found that the used catalyst is deactivated by ammonium-sulfates, heavy metals (Pb, As etc.), alkali metals (Ca), and phase transfer of $TiO_2$. Also calcination treatment under nitrogen and air condition was excellent than washing and calcination treatment.

  • The policy-making and technological development for the supply expansion of eco-friendly automobiles has been continuing, but the internal combustion engines still accounts for about 95%. Also, in order to meet the stricter emission regulations of internal combustion engines based on fossil fuels, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and (ocean going) vessels is gradually increasing. This study is a basic study for the post-Euro-VI exhaust response of CNG buses, and it is to investigate the basic characteristics according to Pd substitution transition metal effect, catalyst volume effect and space velocity. A catalysts was prepared and tested using a model gas reactor. The NGOC catalyst with 3Pd exhibited the highest catalytic activity with 22% at $300^{\circ}C$, 48% at $350^{\circ}C$ and about 75% at $500^{\circ}C$. 3Co NGOC containing 3wt% of transition metal was excellent in oxidation ability, and it was small in size of 2nm, and the degree of catalyst dispersion was improved and de-NO/CO conversion was high. The volume of the NGOC-LNT-SCR catalyst system was optimal in the combination of 1.5+0.5+0.5 with a total score of 165, considering $de-CH_4/NOx$ performance and catalyst cost. For SV $14,000h^{-1}$, the $CH_4$ reduction performance was the highest at about 20%, while the SV $56,000h^{-1}$ was the lowest at about 5%. If the space velocity is small, the flow velocity decreases and the time remaining in the catalyst volume become long, so that the harmful gas was reduced.
