  • The transmission of information by inductive loop is required for train-safety and fast running. FSK modulation has been used for transmission of information in fast running. Transmission channel between train and ground must be protected from interference of power line. To protect transmission data from noises, the analysis on the transmission line must be performed in advance. In this paper, transmission line is analyzed in view of reflection and time delay in both noise and signal.

  • Emerging applications with high data rates will need to transport bulk data reliably in wireless sensor networks. ARQ (Automatic Repeat request) or Forward Error Correction (FEC) code schemes can be used to provide reliable transmission in a sensor network. However, the naive ARQ approach drops the whole frame, even though there is a bit error in the frame and the FEC at the bit level scheme may require a highly complex method to adjust the amount of FEC redundancy. We propose a bulk data transmission scheme based on erasure-resilient code in this paper to overcome these inefficiencies. The sender fragments bulk data into many small blocks, encodes the blocks with LT codes and packages several such blocks into a frame. The receiver only drops the corrupted blocks (compared to the entire frame) and the original data can be reconstructed if sufficient error-free blocks are received. An incidental benefit is that the frame error rate (FER) becomes irrelevant to frame size (error recovery). A frame can therefore be sufficiently large to provide high utilization of the wireless channel bandwidth without sacrificing the effectiveness of error recovery. The scheme has been implemented as a new data link layer in TinyOS, and evaluated through experiments in a testbed of Zigbex motes. Results show single hop transmission throughput can be improved by at least 20% under typical wireless channel conditions. It also reduces the transmission time of a reasonable range of size files by more than 30%, compared to a frame ARQ scheme. The total number of bytes sent by all nodes in the multi-hop communication is reduced by more than 60% compared to the frame ARQ scheme.

  • To apply active RFID technology in the various kinds of industry, it needs to quickly transmit a large amount of data. ISO/IEC 18000-7 standard uses the 433.92MHz as single channel system and its transmit rate is just 27.8kbps, that is insufficient for a large amount of data transmission. To solve this problem, we designed a new data transmission protocol using 2.4GHz band. The feature of designed protocol is not only making over 255bytes data messages using the Burst Read UDB but also efficiently transmitting it. To implement this protocol, we use Texas Instruments's SmartRF04 develop kit and CC2500 transceiver as RF module. As an evaluation of 63.75kbytes data transmission, we demonstrate that transmission time of Burst Read UDB has improved as 17.95% faster than that of Read UDB in the ISO/IEC 18000-7.

  • Cloud environment is one in the field of distributed computing and it consists of physical nodes and virtual nodes. In distributed cloud environment, an optimal path search is that each node to perform a search for an optimal path. Synchronization of each node is required for the optimal path search via fast data transmission because of real-time environment. Therefore, a quantization technique is required in order to guarantee QoS(Quality of Service) and search an optimal path. The quantization technique speeds search data transmission of each node. So a main server can transfer data of real-time environment to each node quickly and the nodes can perform to search optimal paths smoothly. In this paper, we propose the quantization technique to solve the search problem. The quantization technique can reduce the total data transmission. In order to experiment the optimal path search system which applied the quantized data transmission, we construct a simulation of cloud environment. Quantization applied cloud environment reduces the amount of data that transferred, and then QoS of an application for the optimal path search problem is guaranteed.

  • In wireless sensor networks, batteries limit lifespan, and heavy data transmission around the sink causes the hotspot problem. To address this, data collection amounts are allocated to child nodes to limit transmission. However, this approach has issues with nodes far from the sink having excessive energy and failing to transmit the allocated amount due to data transmission errors. This paper proposes a method to prevent sensor data loss through error recovery via retransmission. The method ensures that each node's retransmission volume stays within its allocated data amount and energy limits, using excess energy for error recovery. Simulations show that this technique effectively recovers data transmission errors, collects data, minimizes energy depletion around the sink, and increases data collection rates.

  • In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes have a short transmission range and data is transferred from source to destination node using the multi-hop transmission. Sensor nodes are powered by battery and the link qualities are different, and the routing protocol in the wireless sensor network is one of the important technical issues. Multipath routing was proposed to reduce the data congestion and increase data throughput. In the multipath routing, however, each path can be interfered by the other path, and it can aggravate network performance. In this paper, we propose the multipath routing scheme for multi-rate wireless sensor networks. The multipath routing selects transmission paths to minimize transmission delay and path interference.

  • Recently, Mc(Multi-code) modulation/demodulation(modem) technique has been explored for high speed data transmission in wireless environment. The conventional Mc modem generates some side effects such as allocating Walsh codes, which motivates to propose a novel Mc modem method with sub-code. Our proposed system should expanded the size of sub-code to provide high-rate data transmission, which also affect adversely to the performance of the system with high PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio). Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel pre-coded Multi-Dimensional HCOC(High Capacity Orthogonal Code) Mc modem technique to reduce the high PAPR, which enables the performance improvement. This proposed system can be easily designed by concatenating HCOC Mc modem with the generic Mc modem. The pre-coding technique that is used in this paper is CAC(Constant Amplitude Coding), that helps the system maintain the constant transmission power and reduce the maximum transmission power.

  • The DCF (Dcistributed Coordination Function) and PCF (Point Coordination Function) are the basic MAC (Medium Access Control) protocols of IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. According to the DCF, each node performs the exponential backoff algorithm before the transmission of its data frame. Each node doubles the backoff waiting time before the transmission of its data frame whenever it detects the transmission collision with other nodes. Therefore, as the number of the active nodes having the data frames to transmit increases, the overall MAC performance of the DCF decreases. On the other hand, according to the PCF, each node is granted the transmission opportunity by which the PCF transmission is possible without the collision with other nodes. Therefore, as the number of the active nodes increases, the MAC performance of the PCF increases, In this paper, considering the tradeoff of MAC performance between the DCF and PCF, a hybrid MAC protocol is proposed to enhance the performance of IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs.

  • Group delay distortion (phase distortion) is a characteristic which is of no account from a standpoint of voice transmission. But this distortion becomes the major source of distortion in wave form transmission such as data, FAX and others over the public switching telephone network (voice band transmission) so that it must be drastically studied. This paper makes analysis of group deray distortion of the telephone network, describs experimental and measuring results and refers also to the improvement of distortion for the purpose of opening the public switching telephone network to data transmission.

  • In this paper, we newly developed a byte-inverted transmission method for flicker-free visible light communication (VLC). The VLC transmitter sends original data in the former half period of the clock, and inverted data and in the latter half period of the clock. The VLC receiver receives the original data in the in the former half period of the clock. In this system, we used 480Hz clock that was generated from the 60Hz power line. The average optical power of the LED array in the transmitter is constant, thus flicker-free, in the observation time longer than the period of the clock that is about 2ms. This period is shorter than the maximum flickering time period (MFTP) of 5ms that is generally considered to be safe. This configuration is very useful in constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using LED light because it is flicker-free and does not require additional transmission channel for clock transmission.
