Load modeling has a significant influence on power system analysis and control. In recent years, measurement-based load modeling has been widely practiced. In the load modeling algorithm, the model structure is determined and the parameters of the established model are estimated. For parameter estimation, least-squares optimization method is applied. The model parameters are estimated so that the error between the measured values and the predicted values is to be minimized. By introducing sliding window concept, on-line load modeling method can be performed which reflects the dynamic behaviors of loads in real-time. For the purpose of data acquisition, the measurement system including PMU is implemented in university level. In this paper, case studies are performed using real PMU data from Korea Univ. and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. The performances of modeling real and reactive power behaviors using exponential and ZIP load model are evaluated.
To easily understand and systematically express the behaviors of the industrial systems, various system modeling techniques have been developed. Particularly, the importance of system modeling has been greatly emphasized in recent years since modern industrial systems have become larger and more complex. Multilevel flow modeling (MFM) is one of the qualitative modeling techniques, applied for the representation and reasoning of target system characteristics and phenomena. MFM can be applied to industrial systems without additional domain-specific assumptions or detailed knowledge, and qualitative reasoning regarding event causes and consequences can be conducted with high speed and fidelity. However, current MFM techniques have a limitation, i.e., the dynamic features of a target system are not considered because time-related concepts are not involved. The applicability of MFM has been restricted since time-related information is essential for the modeling of dynamic systems. Specifically, the results from the reasoning processes include relatively less information because they did not utilize time-related data. In this article, the concepts of time-to-detect and time-to-effect were adopted from the system failure model to incorporate time-related issues into MFM, and a methodology for enhancing MFM-based reasoning with time-series data was suggested.

This paper proposes an equipment and an algorithm for modeling the magnetic force of electromagnets in magnetic levitation systems. We assume that the magnetic force model is represented in terms of a 2D lookup table. The 2D lookup table is constructed by applying noncausal filtering and interpolation to data measured by the proposed modeling equipment. The proposed modeling equipment is designed such that it can measure the magnetic force exerted on the levitation object while it changes the voltage applied to the electromagnet and position of the levitation object. The algorithm of making a 2D lookup table has two stages. The data measured by the proposed modeling equipment is smoothed by a noncausal filter and then the 2D lookup table is obtained by interpolating filtered data. The proposed modeling method has advantages of time-saving, model consistency, and chance of automation for mass production. We show the validity of proposed method through control experiments.

This paper studied the 3D modeling process for the restoration of the 'Three-story Stone Pagoda of Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju', a stone pagoda from the Unified Silla Period, using artificial intelligence (AI). Existing 3D modeling methods generate numerous verts and faces, which takes a considerable amount of time for AI learning. Accordingly, a method of performing more efficient 3D modeling by lowering the number of verts and faces is required. To this end, in this study, the structure of the stone pagoda was deeply analyzed and a modeling method optimized for AI learning was studied. In addition, it is meaningful to propose a new 3D modeling methodology for the restoration of stone pagodas in Korea and to secure a data set necessary for artificial intelligence learning.
Recently, in various fields XML has been become a standard for information exchange in internet. Therefore, the researches on data modeling for storing and fetching the XML documents have been made actively. However, existing researches have weak points that they can support neither versioning nor fast fetching of documents while changing documents in dynamic environments. In this paper, we propose four kinds of hybrid data modeling schemes that combine fragmentation model and nonfragmentation model. Our data modeling schemes are suitable to dynamic environments. We also present guidelines that our hybrid data modeling schemes can be used for various applications. We shaw through various experiments that our hybrid schemes partially outperforms the existing modeling schemes in terms of insertion time, storage space and retrieval time.
Generally, the weather forecast system has been run using prescribed ocean condition. As it is widely known that coupling between atmosphere and ocean process produces consistent initial condition at all-time scales to improve forecast skill, there are many trials on the application of data assimilation of coupled model. In this study, we implemented a weakly coupled data assimilation (short for WCDA) system in global NWP model with low horizontal resolution for coupled forecast with uncoupled initialization, following WCDA system at the Met Office. The experiment is carried out for a typhoon evolution forecast in 2017. Air-sea exchange process provides SST cooling and gives a substantial impact on tendency of central pressure changes in the decaying phase of the typhoon, except the underestimated central pressure. Coupled data assimilation is a challenging new area, requiring further work, but it would offer the potential for improving air-sea feedback process on NWP timescales and finally contributing forecast accuracy.

General concepts and overall procedures of interactive graphical user interface, a preand post- processor, for building analysis are introduced. Attention is forcused on the data structures and the modeling operators which can ensure the intergrity of its database should have. An example of model building process is presented to illustrate its capability, its facilities for modifying, and for processing.
The 3D building modeling is one of crucial components in constructing 3D geospatial information. The existing methods for 3D building modeling depend mainly on manual photogrammetric processes, which indeed take great amount of time and efforts. In recent years, many researches on 3D building modeling using aerial LiDAR data have been actively performed to aim at overcoming the limitations of existing 3D building modeling methods. Either techniques with interpolated grid data or data fusion with digital map and images have been investigated in most of existing researches on 3D building modeling with aerial LiDAR data. The paper proposed a method of 3D building modeling with LiDAR data only. Firstly, octree-based segmentation is applied recursively to LiDAR data classified as buildings in 3D space until there are no more LiDAR points to be segmented. Once octree-based segmentation is completed, each segmented patch is thereafter merged together based on its geometric spatial characteristics. Secondly, building model components are created with merged patches. Finally, a 3D building model is generated and composed with building model components. The experimental results with real LiDAR data showed that the proposed method was capable of modeling various types of 3D buildings.
