Entrepreneurial Performance: The Role of Literacy and Skills

  • This research aims to determine the direct and indirect effects of digital literacy, economic literacy, and entrepreneurial skills on the performance of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in garment clusters in the Bulak tourism industry Depok. Carrying out quantitative research with survey methods, data collection is using a questionnaire technique with 90 respondents, via saturation sampling. This research data analysis uses SPSS software version 25.0. Path analysis is used to determine the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results showed digital literacy, economic literacy, and entrepreneurial skills significantly and positively affect the performance of small- and medium-sized enterprises. The main finding in this study is that digital literacy has the greatest influence on the performance of SME entrepreneurs, both directly and indirectly. The results of the study provide input on performance development strategies for SME entrepreneurs through digital literacy, including digital business relationships, online facilities, and networks. The findings are also complementary to the factors shaping the performance of SME entrepreneurs in the digital age. The research results show that digital literacy has the greatest direct and indirect influence on the performance of SME entrepreneurs; this shows the essential contribution of digital literacy in developing business and marketing networks.

Measuring Bitcoin Literacy in Indonesia

  • The purpose of this research is to discuss the concept of measuring cryptocurrency literacy, especially Bitcoin. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data source comes from a literature review on cryptocurrency and opinions from Bitcoin academics, traders, and investors. Data collection was conducted through desk evaluations and interviews to determine what attributes should be considered for assessing Bitcoin literacy. The results of a literature review reinforced by discussion show that eight attributes can be used to assess basic level Bitcoin literacy, namely Bitcoin supply, regulatory guarantees, transaction recording, the role of third parties, treatment of transfer transactions, initial coin offerings, the smallest Bitcoin unit, and conversion with another currency. These eight attributes can be used to measure Bitcoin literacy through various questions with the choice of true, false, and do not know answers. This research is essential because there is no method to measure Bitcoin literacy. This research can be a measuring tool that becomes a reference or standard in assessing or measuring Bitcoin literacy. This study's results provide benefits to the development of science in the form of a tool that can be used to assess Bitcoin literacy and become a standard in assessing a person's level of understanding of Bitcoin.

  • AI 기술의 발달은 우리 삶의 큰 변화를 가져왔다. 생활 속에서부터 사회, 경제에 이르기 까지 AI의 영향력이 커짐에 따라 AI와 데이터에 대한 교육에 대한 중요성이 함께 커지고 있다. 특히 OECD 교육 연구 보고서 및 다양한 국내 정보과 교육과정 연구에서 데이터와 데이터 리터러시를 다루고 필수 역량으로 제시하고 있다. 국내외 연구를 살펴 보면 데이터 리터러시에 대한 정의는 연구자들 마다 그 구체적인 내용과 범위가 다른 것을 알 수 있다. 이에 데이터 리터러시 관련 주요 연구의 정의를 다각도로 분석하여 도출하고자 하였다. 주요 연구에서 데이터 리터러시를 정의를 하는데 사용된 단어 빈도 분석과 함께 Word2vec 자연어 처리 방법을 활용하여 의미 유사도를 분석하고 교육과정 연구의 내용요소를 바탕으로 최종적으로 유목화하여 '데이터를 읽고 쓸 수 있으며, 실생활의 문제를 해결하기 위해 데이터를 이해하고 사용하여 정보로 처리하는 지식 구성의 기초 능력' 의 정의를 도출하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 데이터 리터러시의 정의를 바탕으로 내용이 수정 보완되고 더 많은 연구가 이루어져 학생들의 미래 역량을 키워주는 교육 연구에 좋은 기초 자료가 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

Verification of the Effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence Education for Cultivating AI Literacy skills in Business major students

  • Purpose: In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, individuals equipped with fundamental understanding and practical skills in artificial intelligence (AI) are essential. This study aimed to validate the effectiveness of AI education for enhancing AI literacy among business major student. Research design, data and methodology: Data for analyzing the effectiveness of the AI Fundamental Education Program for business major students were collected through surveys conducted at the beginning and end of the semester. Structural equation modeling was employed to perform basic statistical analyses regarding gender, grade, and prior software (SW) education duration. To validate the effectiveness of AI education, seven variables - AI interest, AI perception, data analysis/utilization, AI projects, AI literacy, AI self-efficacy, and AI learning persistence - were defined and derived. Results: All seven operationally defined variables showed statistically significant positive changes. The average differences were observed as follows: 0.47 for AI interest, 0.32 for AI perception, 0.37 for data analysis/utilization, 0.27 for AI projects, 0.25 for AI literacy, 0.39 for AI self-efficacy, and 0.41 for AI learning persistence. Statistically, AI interest exhibited the most substantial average difference. Conclusions: Through this study, the applied AI education was confirmed to enhance learners' overall competencies in AI, proving its utility and effectiveness in AI literacy education for business major students. Future research endeavors should build upon these results, focusing on ongoing studies related to AI education programs tailored to learners from diverse academic backgrounds and conducting continuous efficacy evaluations.

확장된 데이터의 특성과 맥락을 반영한 데이터 리터러시의 재개념화 (Re-conceptualization of data literacy reflecting the expanded data characteristics and context)

  • 본 연구는 일반 시민이 지녀야 할 데이터에 대한 이해와 데이터 인력 양성 정책에 필요한 기본 개념 틀을 제공하기 위해 데이터 리터러시를 재개념화했다. 이를 위해 확장된 데이터의 특성을 고찰하였고 데이터 리터러시에 관한 선행연구를 분석하여 전문가 검토를 거친 후, 재개념화된 데이터 리터러시를 제시했다. 재개념화된 데이터 리터러시에는 지식, 기술, 맥락의 세 범주와 범주별 하위 요소로 구성되어 있다. 주로 데이터를 다루는 기술 범주를 강조하였던 기존의 데이터 리터러시의 개념에 데이터의 맥락 범주를 추가하여 맥락의 범위, 시간성, 가치 지향 요소도 명시했다. 또한 지식 범주에도 요소를 구체적으로 제시했다. 재개념화된 데이터 리터러시는 정보화, 인력 양성, 행정 등의 분야에서 교육과정과 교육 프로그램 개발 등에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

A Study on the Oral Health Literacy and Related Factors of Mother's in Some Areas

  • Background: This study aims to provide basic data for development of the level-based oral health care program depending on the mother's oral health literacy by finding out how mother's oral health literacy can effect on the preschool children's oral health and behavior. Methods: The survey was conducted on 192 mothers who have preschool children and the data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis to identify differences in verbal and functional oral health literacy. Results: The study showed statistical significance (p<0.05) in educational level depending on differences in verbal and functional oral health literacy by sociodemographic factor. In differences in verbal and functional literacy depending on experience of education for oral health behavior and oral health, statistical significance (p<0.05) was showed highly on verbal and functional literacy in the case that subjects have an experience of education for oral health and their children have not been experienced of oral illness. And when it comes to the case that subjects have experience of education for oral health within one to two years, statistical significance was showed highly on verbal literacy. It showed that verbal and functional oral health literacy effects to oral health care behavior of children judging from results that the higher level of mother's verbal oral health literacy, the higher score of children's oral health knowledge, attitude and behavior. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop the systematic program which is appropriate for characteristics of each oral period in childhood depending on level of primary caregiver's oral health literacy, and systematic education should be preceded to enhance the literacy of the caregiver. It is considered necessary to improve the oral health care of children by developing a manual for oral health care education to enhance primary caregiver's oral health literacy.

유아의 가정문해환경실태 및 어머니의 문해신념과 실천과의 관계 (Analysis of Mothers' Beliefs and Practices for Children's Literacy Acquisition at Home)

  • This study analyzed mothers' beliefs and practices for children's literacy acquisition by investigating the actual conditions of the literacy environment at home. The aim of this study is to understand what mothers believe about literacy, to recognize that children's literacy development is attained by activities done at home, and to provide basic data about parents' roles and guides for the development of a literacy education program for mothers and literacy development for children. As results of this study will show firstly that the actual conditions of the literacy environment for children at home begin before children are six months old, as most of mothers read to their children 2 or 3 times per week for more than 40-50 minutes. In addition, the study illustrate significant differences in mothers' literacy beliefs and practices according to the age of each child and the mothers educational background. A Third point that will be outlined is the way in which the developmental literacy belief among mothers' beliefs was related to the constructions and practices of mothers literacy environment. finally, the study will look at the influence of developmental literacy belief among mothers beliefs on practices of mothers literacy environments.

청소년의 성미디어리터러시, 성허용성이 성인지감수성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Adolescent Sexual Media Literacy and Sexual Permissiveness on Gender Sensitivity)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of adolescent sexual media literacy and sexual permissiveness on gender sensitivity and to provide evidences useful in developing a sex education program that would promote gender sensitivity among adolescents. Methods: Data were derived from 250 adolescents' responses to questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: Gender sensitivity according to gender was significantly different (t=-6.54, p=0.001). Gender sensitivity was positively correlated with sexual media literacy (r=0.36, p<0.001), and negatively correlated with sexual permissiveness (r=.22, p<.001). Sexual media literacy was negatively correlated with sexual permissiveness (r=-0.39, p<0.001). The variables affecting the participants' gender sensitivity on media literacy were gender (β=0.33, p<0.001) and sexual depiction scene (β=0.24, p<0.001). Conclusion: Gender and sexual media literacy influenced participants' gender sensitivity. Therefore, when developing a school-based sex education program, sexual media literacy should be included as a key concept; moreover, gender-specific programs need to be developed. Furthermore, teaching methods should enhance media literacy related to sexual depiction scenes and promote safe and healthy sexual permissiveness.

The Effect of Financial and Taxation Literation on Competitive Advantages and Business Performance: A Case Study in Indonesia

  • This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and taxation on competitive advantage, in order to determine the effect of financial literacy and taxation on the performance of MSMEs, and to determine the effect of competitive advantage on the performance of MSMEs. This study uses primary data through a questionnaire. The population is Creative MSME actors in DIY. Creative MSMEs in Yogyakarta were chosen because Yogyakarta is an area that is rich in traditional culture and various characters of its inhabitants, thus encouraging the development of the potential of Creative MSMEs. This research uses primary data sources on Creative MSMEs in Yogyakarta. The samples were determined by the proportional simple random sampling technique; taking a sample of 20% of the total Creative MSMEs in each district/city. The samples that deserve to be respondents in this study were 210 samples of Creative MSMEs actors in DIY. The statistical technique for analyzing data is the AMOS Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that financial literacy had an effect on the competitive advantage and performance of MSMEs, tax literacy had an effect on competitive advantage, competitive advantage had an effect on the performance of MSMEs. However, tax literacy has no effect on the performance of MSMEs.

Investigating Consumer Innovativeness for New Media Infusion: Role of Literacy in the Context of OTT Services in Korea

  • Consumer innovativeness plays a vital role in explaining consumer dynamics, such as adoption, usage, and behavioral intention, in the new world of disruptive online media. This empirical study aimed to examine the importance of consumer innovativeness and digital literacy in the adoption and expansion of new technology-based media services, focusing on OTT services. Extending the theory of adoption of new technologies by innovators to new media environment centered on OTT services, it examines the influence of the four dimensions of motivated consumer innovativeness on OTT service usage. The Korea Media Panel Data of 2019, where overall ICT usage and media consumption of a broad panel of respondents was collected, was used for the analysis. From the data of 10,864 respondents, 4,031 (37.1%) were found to have experience in using OTT services. To clarify the mediating effect of digital literacy on the correlations between cognitive innovativeness of consumers and their use of OTT services, Process Macro Model 4 was used. The bootstrap method was applied to reveal that all four dimensions of consumer innovativeness have a significant indirect effect on new media usage through digital literacy, thus indicating how digital literacy plays an important role in the spread of new digital services in addition to consumer innovativeness. The findings are important in that they can help in the efforts to introduce new technologies to the public and educate them to improve their digital literacy so that they can enjoy the complete experience of using these new digital products.
