  • LED-ID (light emitting diode - identification) technology is the new paradigm in the identification technology environment. LED-ID system typically needs line of sight (LOS) that supports narrow FOV transceivers links to achieve high data rate. On the other hand, narrow FOV reduces the coverage area. Therefore, the number of tags is increased significantly to cover the whole area. In this case number of link switching is increased when the reader moves within whole coverage area. Link switching delay is the important factor for the moving reader to maintain the communication with high data rate and better QoS. In this paper we propose in literature a new link switching scheme and measure the link switching delay time for LED-ID system. The simulation results show that the proposed link switching scheme is a possible candidate for multi-tag LED-ID system.

  • NCW is a new operational concept for modern warfare to improve the ability to conduct combat by connecting command and control system via network. To realize NCW integrating information sharing system between multiple platforms, CDL is considered as a key component for high-speed transmission of ISR data. Accordingly, further studies to enhance the performance of CDL are being performed around the world, and our government has also developed self-reliant CDL, MPI-CDL. However, the maximum data rate and networking performance of current CDL still fall short of the objective to enable multiple systems to share the large ISR data. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the development flow and international technical trends of CDL, and present an approach for enhancing data rate and networking capacity of the next generation CDL.

  • A video signal through a high-density optical link has been demonstrated to show the reliability of optical link for high-data-rate transmission. To reduce optical point-to-point links, an electrical link has been utilized for control and clock signaling. The latency and flicker with background noise occurred during the transferring of data across the optical link due to electrical-to-optical with optical-to-electrical conversions. The proposed synchronization technology combined with a flicker and denoising algorithm has given good results and can be applied in high-definition serial data interface (HD-SDI), ultra-HD-SDI, and HD multimedia interface transmission system applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a message transmission processing structure for efficient use of radio resources. Existing tactical data links have more data and accumulate more data than the amount of tactical data planned according to the situation. This may result in delays in operations and additional problems. To prevent this, priority is assigned to the message and transmission is performed according to the priority on a single basis. And we design a processing structure that can update duplicate messages and delete old messages in order to prevent waste of radio resources. Experiments are conducted to verify that these structures can be implemented and applied to data links.

  • In this paper, the peformance of a statistical packet voice/data multiplexer is studied. In ths study we assume that in the packet voice/data multiplexer two separate finite queues are used for voice and data traffics, and that voice traffic gets priority over data. For the performance analysis we divide the output link of the multiplexer into a sequence of time slots. The voice signal is modeled as an (M+1) - state Markov process, M being the packet generation period in slots. As for the data traffic, it is modeled by a simple Poisson process. In our discrete time domain analysis, the queueing behavior of voice traffic is little affected by the data traffic since voice signal has priority over data. Therefore, we first analyze the queueing behavior of voice traffic, and then using the result, we study the queueing behavior of data traffic. For the packet voice multiplexer, both inpur state and voice buffer occupancy are formulated by a two-dimensional Markov chain. For the integrated voice/data multiplexer we use a three-dimensional Markov chain that represents the input voice state and the buffer occupancies of voice and data. With these models, the numerical results for the performance have been obtained by the Gauss-Seidel iteration method. The analytical results have been verified by computer simylation. From the results we have found that there exist tradeoffs among the number of voice users, output link capacity, voic queue size and overflow probability for the voice traffic, and also exist tradeoffs among traffic load, data queue size and oveflow probability for the data traffic. Also, there exists a tradeoff between the performance of voice and data traffics for given inpur traffics and link capacity. In addition, it has been found that the average queueing delay of data traffic is longer than the maximum buffer size, when the gain of time assignment speech interpolation(TASI) is more than two and the number of voice users is small.

  • In this paper, we seek to find an optimal allocation of link capacity in a data communication network. The architecture of the data communication network considered in the study is an online-service network based on public switched telephone network(PSTN) and packet switched data network(PSDN). In designing the architecture of the network, we need to deal with various measures of quality of service(QoS). Two important service measures are the call blocking probability in PSTN and the data transfer delay time in PSDN. Considering the tradeoff between the call blocking probability and the data transfer delay time in the network, we have developed the optimal link capacity allocation model that minimizes the total link cost, while guarantees the call blocking probability and the data transfer delay time within an acceptable level of QoS. This problem can be formulated as a non-linear integer programming model. We have solved the problem with tabu search and simulated annealing methods. In addition, we have analyzed the sensitivity of the model and provided the insight of the model along with computational results.

  • The DLS(Data Link System) is located in the PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem) of KOMPSAT-II, and its main function is to provide communication link with Ground Segment as a space segment. DLS receive the data of MSC, OBC from DCSU(Data Compression Storage Unit) and transmit to the Ground Station by X-Band RF link. DLS is consist of CCU(Channel Coding Unit), QTX(QPSK Transmitter, ASU(Antenna Switch Unit) CCU makes a packet for communication after several kind of data processing such like Ciphering, RS Coding. QTX transmit PDTS data by OQPSK. Modulation. ASU is the unit for reliability of antenna switching. So, DLS's function is consists of ciphering, RS coding, CCSDS packetizing, randomizing, modulation and switching to antenna. These DLS's functions are controlled by PMU(Payload Management Unit). All commands to DLS are sent by PMU and all telemetries of DLS are sent to the PMU. The PMU receives commands from OBC and sends telemetries to the OBC. The OBC communicates with Ground Station by S-Band RF link. This paper presents the on-orbit DLS operation concept through the ground segment.

  • Various types of social media make the people share their personal experience in different ways. In some social networking sites. Some users post their reviews, some users can support these reviews with comments, and some users just rate the reviews as kind of support or not. Unfortunately, there is rare explicit negative comments towards other reviews. This means if there is a link between two users, it must be positive link. Apparently, the negative link is invisible in these social network. Or in other word, the negative links are redundant to positive links. In this work, we first discuss the feature extraction from social media data and propose new method to compute the distance between each pair of comments or reviews on social media. Then we investigate whether we can predict negative links via regression analysis when only positive links are manifested from social media data. In particular, we provide a principled way to mathematically incorporate multi-facet data in a novel framework, Constructing Negative Links, CsNL to predict negative links for discovering the hidden information. Additionally, we investigate the ways of solution to general negative link predication problems with CsNL and its extension. Experiments are performed on real-world data and results show that negative links is predictable with multi-facet of social media data by the proposed framework CsNL. Essentially, high prediction accuracy suggests that negative links are redundant to positive links. Further experiments are performed to evaluate coefficients on different kernels. The results show that user generated content dominates the prediction performance of CsNL.

  • Wireless sensor networks have unbalanced energy consumption due to the convergence structure in which data is concentrated to sink nodes. To solve this problem, in the previous research, the relay node was placed between the source node and the sink node to merge the data before being concentrated to the sink node. However, selecting a relay node that does not consider the link quality causes packet loss according to the link quality of the reconfigured routing path. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a link cost calculation method for data reliability in routing path reconfiguration for relay node selection. We propose a link cost estimation formula considering the number of hops and RSSI as the routing metric value and select the RSSI threshold value through the packet transmission experiment between the sensor modules.
