  • The purpose of this study is to review the effect of previous research data with virtual reality-based Physical Activity Therapy Programs(PATPs) in adult on the physical fitness factors. Research articles were retrieved from 2008 to 2021 with the Research Information Sharing Service(RISS) and Pubmed database. The main search terms were 'care', 'therapy', 'healing', 'exercise' or 'physical activity', and 'virtual reality'. The criteria for selecting articles of this study were the originality, duplication, Randomized controlled trial(RCT) experiment and subject. Finally, 18 papers were selected among 318 articles, which were excluded if any of the criteria was not satisfied. Most of papers(15) were conducted in the last 5 years, because of the high interest due to the development of virtual reality implementation technology and COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were mainly patients(8), and the types of diseases were stroke(2). The physical fitness factors were mostly balance ability(7), muscle strength(7), and range of motion(6). All the physical fitness factors were significantly improved after PATPs. However, 11 studies were conducted for less than 4 weeks, including 6 studies were performed a bout of acute exercise. Also, 14 studies did not clearly present the intensity of PATPs. In addition, there were 9 studies, that simply applied games without specialized programs. In conclusion, it seems that virtual reality-based PATPs have a positive effect on physical fitness factors. However, VR-based PATPs should be specialized and developed in order to verify their effectiveness for the further research.

  • Recently, smart home technology has been developed with a great response due to the convenience of home automation. Smart home technology provides various services by connecting various Internet of Things (IoT) and sensors to a home network through wired/wireless networks. In addition, the smart home service easily and conveniently controls lighting, energy, environment, and door cameras through a wall pad. However, while it has become a social issue due to the recent hacking accident of wall pads, personal information leakage and privacy infringement are expected. Accordingly, it is necessary to prepare preventive and countermeasures against security vulnerability factors of wall pads. Therefore, this study expects that it can be used as basic data for future smart home application and response technology development by examining the weak causes and countermeasures related to wall pads.

  • This paper presents the first genome assemblies of Philippine mangoes that provide valuable reference for varietal improvement and genomic studies on mango and related fruit crops. WE sequenced whole genomes of3 species, Mangifera odorata (Huani), Mangifera altissima (Paho), and Mangifera indica 'Carabao' (Sweet Elena). 'Carabao' is the major export variety of the Philippines; Paho is identified as vulnerable by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species; Huani has fruit sap acrid which is the primary defense mechanism against insects and birds. We used Falcon, a diploid aware -de novo assembler to assemble SMRT generated long-read sequences. Falcon-unzip was employed to phase the output assembly producing larger contig sets (primary contigs) and shorter contigs corresponding to haplotypes (haplotigs). Assembly statistics were generated by comparing the assembly to a reference genome, Tommy Atkins, using Quality Assessment Tool (QUAST). Moreover, the extent of duplication and completeness of gene content was measured using Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs (BUSCO). Draft assemblies with high duplications were processed using Purge Haplotigs and Purge Dups to lessen duplications with minimal impact on genome completeness. De novo assemblies of Huani, Paho and 'Carabao' were then generated with primary contig sizes of 463.64 Mb, 508.95 Mb and 401.51 Mb respectively. These draft assemblies of Huani, Paho and 'Carabao' showed 96.90%, 95.17% and 99.07% complete BUSCOs respectively which is comparable to 'Tommy Atkins' genome (98.6%). Using two mango transcriptome data (pooled RNA-seq from different mango varieties and tissues), 91-96% or 24-30 million reads were successfully mapped back for each generated assembly indicating high degree of completeness. The results obtained demonstrated the highly contiguous, phased, and near complete genome assembly of three Philippine mango species for structural and functional annotation of gene units, especially those with economic importance.

  • Objective: To summarize the high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (HRMRI) features of duplicated internal auditory canals (DIACs). Materials and Methods: Ear HRCT data of 64813 patients with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), obtained between August 2009 and November 2017, were reviewed. Among these patients, 12 (13 ears) were found to have DIACs, 9 of whom underwent HRMRI. Their images were evaluated by two otoradiologists. Results: The rate of occurrence of DIAC among SNHL patients was 0.019% (12/64813). The internal auditory canals of 13 ears were divided into double canals by complete (n = 6) and incomplete (n = 7) bony septa, with varied orientations ranging from horizontal to approximately vertical. All of the anterosuperior canals extended into the facial nerve (FN) canal, except for 1, which also extended to the vestibule. The posteroinferior canals ended in the cochlea and vestibule, except for 2, which also connected to the FN canals. Magnetic resonance images revealed that 77.8% (7/9) and 22.2% (2/9) of vestibulocochlear nerves (VCNs) were aplastic and hypoplastic, respectively. Furthermore, 88.9% (8/9) of FNs were normal, except for 1, which was hypoplastic. All of the affected ears also had other ear anomalies: a narrow, bony cochlear nerve canal was the most common other anomaly, accounting for 92.3% (12/13). Malformations of other systems were not found. Conclusion: Double-canal appearance is a characteristic finding of DIAC on HRCT, and it is usually accompanied by other ear anomalies. The VCN usually appears aplastic, with a normal FN, on HRMRI.

  • Performance scalability and storage scalability become important in a large scale cluster of wireless internet proxy cache servers. Performance scalability means that the whole performance of the cluster increases linearly according as servers are added. Storage scalability means that the total size of cache storage in the cluster is constant, regardless of the number of cache servers used, if the whole cache data are partitioned and each partition is stored in each server, respectively. The Round-Robin based load balancing method generally used in a large scale server cluster shows the performance scalability but no storage scalability because all the requested URL data need to be stored in each server. The hashing based load balancing method shows storage scalability because all the requested URL data are partitioned and each partition is stored in each server, respectively. but, it shows no performance scalability in case of uneven pattern of client requests or Hot-Spot. In this paper, we propose a novel dynamic hashing method with performance and storage scalability. In a time interval, the proposed scheme keeps to find some of requested URLs allocated to overloaded servers and dynamically reallocate them to other less-loaded servers. We performed experiments using 16 PCs and experimental results show that the proposed method has the performance and storage scalability as different from the existing hashing method.

  • The aim of this study was to identify bibliographic characteristics and research trends of articles published on the elderly people in dental hygiene. An analysis was done of 191 articles published from 1999 to 2017. Bibliographic characteristics were nine items such as publication journal, research design, research participants, number of researchers, data analysis method, keywords, research topic, and validity and reliability report. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of statistical program. First, the research on the elderly, which was published in dental hygiene, started to be published in 1999 and on going. Though major publications have been published in Journal of Korean Society of Dental Hygiene and Journal of Dental Hygiene Science, the kinds of journals are becoming diverse. Second, cross-sectional research was the most. Third, the elderly were the most studied subjects, but the criteria varied. Fourth, the number of authors was largest in order of two and three person. Fifth, data analysis method was in order of descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA. Sixth, there were many duplication of keywords about oral, elderly, and health. Seventh, oral health behavior science was the most studied subject. Eighth, validity and reliability were reported at 27.4% and 51.6%, respectively. Ninth, only 15.7% of study was founded research funding. Based on the results of this study, we consider increase experimental research further. Therefore, it is recommeded that validity and reliability should be reported in research paper, and the keywords used in the field of dental hygiene should be agreed upon.

  • This study proposed the new weighting values and fault points of condition assessment items for reinforced earth retaining walls based on the combination the inspection data and hybrid weighting technique. Utilizing the inspection data of 161 reinforced earth retaining walls, multi regression analysis and entropy technique were applied to gain the weighting values of condition assessment items. In addition, the weighting values by AHP technique was analyzed based on the opinion of experts. By appling hybrid weighting technique to the calculated weighting values obtained by the individual technique, the new weighting values of condition assessment items were proposed, and the fault points and fault indices of reinforced earth retaining walls were proposed. Results showed that the rank of the weighting value of the condition evaluation items was fluctuated according to the multiple regression analysis, AHP technique, and entropy technique. There was no duplication of the rank of the weighting value while the current weighting value was overlapped. Specially, in the rsults of multi regression analysis, two condition assessment items were occupied 70% of the total weights. When the proposed weighting values were applied to existing reinforced earth retaining wall of 161, 16 reinforced earth retaining walls showed the increased risk rank and 31 represented the decreased risk rank.

  • Background: Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) is one of the world's most valuable medicinal plants with numerous pharmacological effects. Ginseng has been cultivated from wild mountain ginseng collections for a few hundred years. However, the genetic diversity of cultivated and wild ginseng populations is not fully understood. Methods: We developed 92 polymorphic microsatellite markers based on whole-genome sequence data. We selected five markers that represent clear allele diversity for each of their corresponding loci to elucidate genetic diversity. These markers were applied to 147 individual plants, including cultivars, breeding lines, and wild populations in Korea and neighboring countries. Results: Most of the 92 markers displayed multiple-band patterns, resulting from genome duplication, which causes confusion in interpretation of their target locus. The five high-resolution markers revealed 3 to 8 alleles from each single locus. The proportion of heterozygosity (He) ranged from 0.027 to 0.190, with an average of 0.132, which is notably lower than that of previous studies. Polymorphism information content of the markers ranged from 0.199 to 0.701, with an average of 0.454. There was no statistically significant difference in genetic diversity between cultivated and wild ginseng groups, and they showed intermingled positioning in the phylogenetic relationship. Conclusion: Ginseng has a relatively high level of genetic diversity, and cultivated and wild groups have similar levels of genetic diversity. Collectively, our data demonstrate that current breeding populations have abundant genetic diversity for breeding of elite ginseng cultivars.
