Cluster analysis has been widely used in many applications, such that data analysis, pattern recognition, image processing, etc. But clustering requires many hours to get clusters that we want, because it is more primitive, explorative and we make many data an object of cluster analysis. In this paper we propose a new clustering method, 'Clustering algorithm using a center of gravity for grid-based sample'. It is more fast than any traditional clustering method and maintains accuracy. It reduces running time by using grid-based sample and keeps accuracy by using representative point, a center of gravity.
This paper presents adjustment of input order to improve clustering performance of ART1. We propose new method for On-line clustering which adjusts initial input data using buffer. We demonstrate the clustering performance of the proposed algorithm by testing it on Zoo data set from UCI and created artificial data set for simulation. Experimental results show that preposed method increases 7.8% of clustering performance than ART1 model on the average.
The existence of noise bands may deform the typical shape of the spectrum, making the accuracy of clustering degraded. This paper proposes a statistical approach to remove noise bands in hyperspectral data using the correlation coefficient of bands as an indicator. Considering each band as a random variable, two adjacent signal bands in hyperspectral data are highly correlative. On the contrary, existence of a noise band will produce a low correlation. For clustering, the unsupervised ${\kappa}$-nearest neighbor clustering method is implemented in accordance with three well-accepted spectral matching measures, namely ED, SAM and SID. Furthermore, this paper proposes a hierarchical scheme of combining those measures. Finally, a separability assessment based on the between-class and the within-class scatter matrices is followed to evaluate the applicability of the proposed noise band removal method. Also, the paper brings out a comparison for spectral matching measures.

We consider the Fuzzy clustering which is devised for partitioning a set of objects into a certain number of groups by assigning the membership probabilities to each object. The researches carried out in this field before show that the Fuzzy clustering concept is involved so much that for a certain set of data, the main purpose of the clustering cannot be attained as desired. Thus we propose a new objective function, named as Fuzzy-Entroppy Function in order to satisfy the main motivation of the clustering which is classifying the data clearly. Also we suggest Mean Field Annealing Algorithm as an optimization algorithm rather than the ISODATA used traditionally in this field since the objective function is changed. we show the Mean Field Annealing Algorithm works pretty well not only for the new objective function but also for the classical Fuzzy objective function by indicating that the local minimum problem resulted from the ISODATA can be improved.
In the wireless sensor network environment, clustering scheme has a problem that a large amount of energy is unnecessarily consumed because of frequently occurred entire re-clustering process. Some of the studies were attempted to improve the network performance by getting rid of the entire network setup process. However, removing the setup process is not worthy. Because entire network setup relieves the burden of some sensor nodes. The primary aim of our scheme is to cut down the energy consumption through minimizing entire setup processes which occurred unnecessarily. Thus, we suggest a re-clustering scheme that considers event detection, transmitting energy, and the load on the nodes. According to the result of performance analysis, our scheme reduces energy consumption of nodes, prolongs the network lifetime, and shows higher data collection rate and higher data accuracy than the existing schemes.
Skyline queries are used in a variety of fields to make optimal decisions. However, as the volume of data and the dimension of the data increase, the number of skyline points increases with the amount of time it takes to discover them. Mainly, because the number of skylines is essential in many real-life applications, various studies have been proposed. However, previous researches have used the k-parameter methods such as top-k and k-means to discover representative skyline points (RSPs) from entire skyline point set, resulting in high query response time and reduced representativeness due to k dependency. To solve this problem, we propose a new Connected Component Clustering based Representative Skyline Query (3CRS) that can discover RSP quickly even in high-dimensional data through connected component clustering. 3CRS performs fast discovery and clustering of skylines through hash indexes and connected components and selects RSPs from each cluster. This paper proves the superiority of the proposed method by comparing it with representative skyline queries using k-means and DBSCAN with the real-world dataset.
The necessity of wireless sensor networks is increasing in the recent years. So many researches are studied in wireless sensor networks. The clustering algorithm provides an effective way to prolong the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. The one-hop routing of LEACH algorithm is an inefficient way in the energy consumption of cluster-head, because it transmits a data to the BS(Base Station) with one-hop. On the other hand, other clustering algorithms transmit data to the BS with multi-hop, because the multi-hop transmission is an effective way. But the multi-hop routing of other clustering algorithms which transmits data to BS with multi-hop have a data bottleneck state problem. The unequal clustering algorithm solved a data bottleneck state problem by increasing the routing path. Most of the unequal clustering algorithms partition the nodes into clusters of unequal size, and clusters closer to the BS have small-size the those farther away from the BS. However, the energy consumption of cluster-head in unequal clustering algorithm is more increased than other clustering algorithms. In the thesis, I propose an energy efficient unequal clustering algorithm which decreases the energy consumption of cluster-head and solves the data bottleneck state problem. The basic idea is divided a three part. First of all I provide that the election of appropriate cluster-head. Next, I offer that the decision of cluster-size which consider the distance from the BS, the energy state of node and the number of neighborhood node. Finally, I provide that the election of assistant node which the transmit function substituted for cluster-head. As a result, the energy consumption of cluster-head is minimized, and the energy consumption of total network is minimized.
Current studies on storing XML data are focused on either mapping XML data to existing RDBMS efficiently or developing a native XML storage. Some native XML storages store each XML node with parsed object form. Clustering, the physical arrangement of each object, can be an important factor to increase the performance with this storing method. In this paper, we propose re-clustering techniques that can store an XML document efficiently. Proposed clustering technique uses path similarities among data nodes, which can reduce page I/Os when returning query results. And proposed technique can process a path query only using small number of clusters as possible instead of using all clusters. This enables efficient processing of path query because we can reduce search space by skipping unnecessary data. Finally, we apply existing clustering techniques to store XML data and compare the performance with proposed technique. Our results show that the performance of XML storage can be improved by using a proper clustering technique.

Cluster analysis of microarray data has been often used to find biologically relevant Broups of genes based on their expression levels. Since many functionally related genes tend to be co-expressed, by identifying groups of genes with similar expression profiles, the functionalities of unknown genes can be inferred from those of known genes in the same group. In this Paper we address a novel clustering approach, called seed clustering, and investigate its applicability for microarray data analysis. In the seed clustering method, seed genes are first extracted by computational analysis of their expression profiles and then clusters are generated by taking the seed genes as prototype vectors for target clusters. Since it has strong mathematical foundations, the seed clustering method produces the stable and consistent results in a systematic way. Also, our empirical results indicate that the automatically extracted seed genes are well representative of potential clusters hidden in the data, and that its performance is favorable compared to current approaches.
Most real word systems such as world economy, stock market, and medical applications, contain a series of dynamic and complex phenomena. One of common methods to understand these systems is to build a model and analyze the behavior of the system. In this paper, we investigated methods for best clustering over time series data. As a first step for clustering, BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) approximation is used to determine the number of clusters. A search technique to improve clustering efficiency is also suggested by analyzing the relationship between data size and BIC values. For clustering, two methods, model-based and similarity based methods, are analyzed and compared. A number of experiments have been performed to check its validity using real data(stock price). BIC approximation measure has been confirmed that it suggests best number of clusters through experiments provided that the number of data is relatively large. It is also confirmed that the model-based clustering produces more reliable clustering than similarity based ones.
