A study focused on the implication of the blue and black colors in Korean traditional costume is presented. The presented study shows that the blue color in most of literatures regarding Korean traditional costume implies not only green and blue colors, but also dark blue and black colors. In a broad sense, the blue color implies a color category which includes green, indigo, blue, dark blue and black. On the other hand, the color includes blue, dark blue and black in a narrow sense. The rotor black, however, should not be interpreted as blue and dark blue because it has two bypes of black colors with and without reddish tone. Four reasons that the color blue was understood as the color black were discussed in this paper. The fundamental reason was that the blue color looked like black because of dark shadows. Secondly, there was a difference of color awareness between the color blue in Korea and in China. Thirdly, there was a color difference related to the type of textiles. Finally, other substitutes were used because of the lack of blue dyes.

Among 96 color combination stimuli, male students evaluated 47 set as harmonized, but female students evaluated 32 set, so proved that male's range of harmony more extensive than that of female. Specially red shirt and yellow red necktie in all tone was evaluated as harmonized coloration by both male and female students. Female evaluated as the best harmonious coloration that red shirt-yellow necktie in dark, blue shirt-yellow necktie in dark, purple shirt-red necktie in light, green shirt-blue necktie in dull, and male evaluated red shirt-yellow red necktie in light, blue shirt-yellow necktie in light, purple shirt-red necktie in light, green shirt-yellow necktie in dark. It is significant difference between female and male on red-green in vivid, and blue-purple in vivid, blue-blue in dull, blue-yellow in dark, and purple-purple in dull. And shirt color and necktie color, necktie color and tone, tone and perceiver' gender influenced on the harmony evaluation by interaction.

Mong Hsu rubies from Myanmar include typically the dark core and blue patch but most of the previous research has merely focused on the dark core. This work is aimed to understanding clearly the characteristic of the dark core and blue patch of Mong Hsu rubies. It was found from the FTIR analysis that the dark core and blue patch region showed the absorption peaks of boehmite ($1986\;cm^{-1}$), diaspore ($2115\;cm^{-1}$) and water ($3400{\sim}3900\;cm^{-1}$) but the absorption peaks of O-H stretching ($3309\;cm^{-1}$ and $3078\;cm^{-1}$) were found only in blue patch region. The UV-VIS-NIR analysis of the dark core region revealed the stronger absorption of $Cr^{3+}$ at 405 and 554 nm compared to the blue patch region. In range of 600~800 nm, the UV absorption characteristic at 659, 675 and 693 nm assigned to $Cr^{3+}$ of core group samples is distinct from that of blue patch. The SEM-EDS examinations disclosed the existence of lots of micro-cracks and pores in the core regions compared to blue patch region.

The purpose of the research was to compare the preference of coloration of traditional Korean dress according to tone variation of green jacket by Korean and American women college students. The results of research can be summarized as follows. Korean students preferred skirt of vivid red color and light green jacket, but American students did not like it. Korean students did not like the skirt and jacket of same color, but American students preferred it. Both Korean and American students preferred skirt and jacket of different tone. Korean students liked skirt of dull blue and jacket of light dull green, skirt of dark blue and jacket of vivid, dull green. American students liked skirt of vivid violet and jacket of vivid dull, dark green. They also liked skirt of light yellow and jacket of light green, light skirt of blue, violet and jacket of light, dull, dark green, skirt of dark blue and vivid, light, dull gueen, skirt of dark violet and jacket of dull, dark green.

1) The photodecomposition rate of guanine being catalized by methylene blue ws 53.7% in contrast with 9.3% that of dark control for 180 min. 2) In guanine control, the decomposition rate was very low. For 180 min., the rate was 8.1% in illuminated sample and 3.9% in non-illuminated sample. 3) The decomposition rate of methylene blue was obviously interfered by the existence of guanine. In guanine and methylene blue mixture solution, the net decomposition rate, excluding that of dark control ws 39.2% and in dye only solution, it was 48.5%.

The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of the color of jacket. dress shirt, necktie. and perceiver's gender on image perceptions of male, and to examine how clothing color preferences varies according to perceiver's gender and age. The stimuli of 8 pictures of male and the semantic differential scale were used to evaluate image perception. Subjects were 192 males and females in Seoul. The colors of jacket gave significant influences on perception of potency. elegance, preference, and manliness. The colors of dress shirt gave a significant influence on perception of manliness, the necktie's colors gave influences on elegance and visibility. Perceiver's gender did not give significant influences on the image perception. Visibility had an interaction effect by the colors of jacket and dress shirt. Potency and preference evaluation had interaction effects by the colors of jacket. dress shirt. and necktie. White dress shirt had positive effects on the perception of potency and preference in the case of matching with dark blue jacket and red necktie, and blue shirt had a positive effect on the perception of potency and preference in matching with dark blue jacket and blue necktie. The preference of dark grey suit and black shirt showed significant differences according to gender. Dark blue suit, white shirt, and blue shirt had significant differences according to the age group.

This study was performed to understand the interaction between Ophiostomataceae and basidiomycetes fungi during cultures, and whether the basidiomycetes fungi inhibit the growth and decolorize dark pigments of blue staining fungi. The conjoint cultivation was studied on 2% malt extract agar. The ability of basidial cultures to decolorize dark pigments of ophiostomatoid fungi was the main characteristics estimated during this study. More than half of basidial cultures were characterized by deadlock interaction with blue staining fungi. In the dual cultures, where basidial partners were presented by Agaricus bisporus(64), Laetiporus sulphureus(L01/89), Trametes versicolor(09) and unknown fungus(02), antagonism was found at the phase of primary contact of colonies. Replacement interaction resulted usually in decreasing dark colour of substrate was observed for 11 basidial cultures that were belonging mainly to white-rot fungi. Among them Abortiporus biennis(123), Antrodiella hoehnelii(S28/91), Bjerkandera fumosa (137), and Gleophyllum odoratum(124) were characterized by the absence of deadlock-phase: they began to grow over dark colonies of their partners just after primary contact. Basidiomycetes did not affect strongly the pigments of Ceratocystis spp. and Leptographium sibirica isolates, but completely decolorized colonies of Ophiostoma ips and to a smaller degree Ophiostoma minus. Antrodiella hoehnelii(S28/91), Bjerkandera fumosa(137), Gleophyllum odoratum(124) and Trametes versicolor(B18/91) cultures were found to be the most active in decreasing dark color of blue staining fungi colonies. The cultures were recommended for further development as agents of biopulping of wood chips and bio-control of blue stain in woods.

In this research, 128 stimuli of contrast coloration of lipstick and clothing were evaluated to the degree of harmony in the coordination of makeup and clothing color depending on the combination of eyeshadow color(brown, violet), lipstick color(red, orange, and purple), lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull, and dark), clothing style(formal, casual), and clothing tone(vivid, light, dull, and dark). Sets of stimulus and response scales were used as experimental materials. The subjects were 768 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. As to the brown eyeshadow, dull lipstick and light, dull clothing, vivid, dull, dark lipstick and dark clothing among the combinations of red lipstick and blue green clothing, dull lipstick and light, dull, dark clothing, dark lipstick and dull, dark clothing among the combinations of orange lipstick and purplish blue clothing were evaluated as harmonious coloration regardless of the clothing style. As to the violet eyeshadow, combinations of red lipstick and blue green clothing and combinations of red purple lipstick and yellow green clothing wide come out range of disharmony. Thus, the degree of harmony in the contrast coloration can be perceived to be different depending on how the color and tone of clothing and lipstick are coordinate.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of the visual image evaluation according to coloration of men's dress shirts and neckties, and perceiver's gender. Subjects were 336 males and females living in Seoul. Five dimensions of visual evaluation were derived by factor analysis: elegance/intelligence, sociability, potency/attractiveness, individuality, and manliness. White shirts were evaluated highly in elegance/intelligence, and blue shirts were shown the manliest. Women evaluated the blue shirts manlier than men did. Dark blue neckties were evaluated highly in elegance/intelligence and sociability, and red ties were perceived to be very distinctive. Black shirts and white shirts with silvery gray ties were perceived to be the most elegant and intelligent. Blue shirts with dark blue ties was evaluated highly in sociability and potency/attractiveness, and black shirts with yellow ties were evaluated the highest in individuality. The evaluations of elegance/intelligence, potency/attractiveness, and manliness had significant interaction effects between the color of shirts and neckties. White shirts and blue shirts with dark blue ties were perceived to be more elegant and intelligent, potent, attractive and manlier than with red ties.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the harmony evaluation and the effects used clues on harmony perception in terms of 128 contrast coloration of male shirt and necktie by male and female students. The results are as follows. Among 128 contrast coloration stimuli, female students evaluated 42 set, male students 50 set, so proved that male's range of harmony more extensive than that of female. It is significant difference between female and male on shirt-necktie coloration; vivid red shirt-vivid green tie, dull red shirt-dark blue tie, light red shirt-dull blue tie, dark red shirt-light blue tie, light green shirt-vivid violet tie, light green shirt-light red tie, light green shirt-dull red tie. Especially, in contrast coloration, it was evaluated as harmonized coloration by both male and female as tie was dark tone on the whole.
