대학생들의 아침식사 습관과 관련된 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Breakfast Related Factors of University Students)

  • This study was conducted to investigate breakfast related factors and utilize the basic information for the development of university student's nutrition and health program in order to help healthy dietary life. The interview was done by trained interviewers on 197 students who visited health clinic in Inje university from May 1 to May 31, 1998. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The rate of having breakfast was 50.5% in male and 45.5% in female, and there were significantly higher rate(62.1%) in freshmen than other grade students(p〈0.05). 2. The rate of smoking and drinking were 24.9%, 86.6%, respectively. The rate of having breakfast was significantly lower in smoking group and drinking group than other groups(p〈0.05). 3. The group that was shown high awareness of the importance of having breakfast was higher than other groups in the rate of having breakfast(p〈0.05). 4. The author calculated odds ratios for past medical history, smoking, drinking, awareness of the importance of having breakfast by logistic regression. The values were 1.77 for past medical history(p〉0.05), 2.09 for smoking(p〉0.05), 2.88 for drinking(p〈0.05), 3.80 for awareness of the importance of having breakfast(p〈0.05). We suggested that better breakfast eating habits for an adequate daily diet should be emphasized through nutrition and health education program for university students.

지식정보사회에 있어서 독서교육 활성화 방안 (Some Suggestions on Reading Education in the Knowledge-Information Society)

  • 독서교육의 궁극적 목적은 독서를 생활화하는 것이다. 독서의 생활화는 독서습관을 형성하여 독서가 일상생활의 일부분으로 정착되는 것을 발한다. 독서가 생활의 일부분으로 정착된다는 것은 모든 행위가 하루아침에 단 한번의 시도로 습관화될 수 없는 것과 같이 쉽게 이루어질 수 있는 성격의 것이 아니다. 독서 생활화는 모든 학습과 마찬가지로 독서에 대한 즐거움과 흥미, 동기부여, 연습과 강화, 충분한 보상등이 주어져야 독서생활화를 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서. 본 연구에서는 지식정보사회에 있어서 독서의 특성을 살펴 본 다음에 학교교육에서 독서교육이 성공을 거두기 위한 여러 가지 활성화 방안을 모색해 보고자 한다.

  • 최근 들어 잘못된 보행 습관과 신발 착용으로 족부 질환자들이 늘어나고 있다. 신발의 발달과 생활환경으로 누구나 족부질환으로부터 안심할 수 없다. 족부질환 환자가 정형 신발 구매시 신발디자인 특성이 만족도와 구매 의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 연구한다. 신발 디자인 특성은 기능성, 편의성, 심미성으로 구성하였다. 사회활동 참여 빈도, 착용 목적, 족부 질환별 상태와 특징 등 다양한 관점에서 연구된다. 연구 결과를 통해 정형 경증 족부질환 환자들이 일상생활에서 유용하게 착용할 수 있는 정형 신발 디자인 개발과 현실적인 활용과 만족으로 이어지길 기대한다.

1950년대 여성문화장(場)에서의 밀가루음식 소비담론 (Food Consumption Discussion in 1950's Women's Culture)

  • This study investigated women's magazines and women's food consumption stories of the 1950/s. That is, it attempted to comprehend the connection between the public and private aspects of food consumption as discussed in the 1950's. The public aspect of culture was investigated using the women's magazine "Yeo-won" which reflected the social and intellectual hegemony of the time. The private aspects of culture were investigated by reviewing the daily life of women though in-depth interviews. Mass media reflected the social and intellectual hegemony and indicated that a cultivated woman who supported western food was a wise mother and a good wife, and that a woman who consumed flour-based food was a reasonable and modern consumer, ahead of her time The admiration for the U.S. and its advanced civilization through free handouts of flour and powdered milk accelerated the consumption of industrialized flour-based foods such as noodles, hardtack, and steamed bread. This lead to the rigid traditional food-eating habits of boiled rice, and side dishes changed to flour-based and processed foods. That is, food represented a cultural identity.

경남 일부 지역 여자 노인의 건강 및 영양 상태 조사 (A Study on Health Conditions and Nutritional Status of Elderly Women in Gyeongnam)

  • This study was performed to assess the nutritional status of low income elderly women aged ${\geq}$65 years residing in Gyeongnam Masan (n=124). Nutrition intakes, food intake frequency, and health-related behaviors including smoking, drinking, and exercise were investigated. Nutrition intake was calculated by the 24-hour recall method using CAN-pro (ver. 3.0). Average daily intakes of energy were $1,142.3{\pm}39$ kcal (71.4% of EER) in subjects aged 65~74 years and $1,071.0{\pm}41.7$ kcal (66.9% of EER) in subjects aged ${\geq}$75 years and the subjects consumed energy less than both 75% of estimated energy requirement (EER). The proportions of energy derived from protein, fat, and carbohydrate were 15.4:15.5:70.6 (aged 65~74 years), and 15.3:13.4:70.8 (aged ${\geq}$75). Nutrients consumed at less than estimated average requirements (EARs) were Ca (60.4%), P (98.4%), Zn (91%), vitamin E (48% of adequate intake, AI), vitamin $B_1$ (63.3%), vitamin $B_2$ (54%), niacin (87.7%), vitamin C (62.5%), and folate (50.5%). Especially, the intakes of Ca (58%), vitamin E (41% of AI), vitamin $B_1$ (60%), vitamin $B_2$ (50%), folate (46.5%), and vitamin C (54%) were 75% less than the EAR for people aged ${\geq}$75 years. According to the food intake frequency survey, the intakes of calcium, milk, fruits, and vegetables were very poor. In conclusion, this study suggests that a nutritional support program for elderly women of low socioeconomic class must be provided by the government to improve the quality of remaining life.

영양교육과 규칙적인 운동이 혈액투석환자의 영양상태와 삶의 질 및 피로도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Nutrition Education and Regular Exercise on Nutritional Status, Quality of Life and Fatigue in Hemodialysis Patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a nutrition education and exercise on nutritional status in hemodialysis patients, with regard to quality of life (QoL), and fatigue. The subjects were divided into two groups : an educated (E) group (11 men and 9 women) and a non-educated (NE) group (7 men and 22 women). The educated group received a nutrition education and a regular exercise program for 3 months. Data on anthropometric indices and biochemical parameters were obtained from medical records. Dietary habits and nutrient intake were assessed through questionnaires and three-day food records. QoL (through the SF-36 questionnaire) and fatigue (measured by a visual analogue scale questionnaire) were assessed before and after the interventions. Dietary habit scores regarding food variety and fluid intake control significantly increased (P<0.05) after the nutrition education. Furthermore, the intake of total energy, carbohydrates, Fe, and vitamin A significantly increased (P<0.05). Vitamin C intake also significantly increased (P<0.01). Hb levels decreased whereas TG levels increased in the NE group. BUN levels decreased in the E group. After the nutrition education, QoL aspects, such as feelings of pain and general health, and the total score significantly increased (P<0.05) and the level of fatigue score decreased (P<0.01). The results of this study indicate that nutrition education and exercise for hemodialysis patients provides changes in dietary habit, daily nutrient intake, biochemical parameters, QoL, and the level of fatigue. Therefore, nutrition education and exercise help improve nutritional status and QoL.

근로자(勤勞者)의 양생수준(養生水準)과 스트레스와의 관계(關係) (A Study on the Relations between Yangseng Level and Stress in Industrial Workers)

  • This study aims at grasping the relativity between laborers' yangseng level and stress so as to present the groundwork for preventive oriental medicine approach in industrial health. The researcher prepared the questionnaire on general character, health-related yangseng level and chose 632 people to execute Autonomic balance test through heartbeat change. The collected material was analyzed by SPSS and tested by T-test, ANOVA. The general yangseng level average is 3.27, morality yangseng 3.91, sleep yangseng 3.39, mind yangseng 3.32, sex life yangseng 3.29, exercise yangseng 3.14, activities and rest yangseng 3.07, diet yangseng 2.95, seasonal yangseng 2.84. The highest is morality yangseng and seasonal yangseng is the lowest. In the aspect of yangseng level : Having a spouse, Non-smoking, Non-drinking, Regular exercising, Sufficient sleeping have higher yanseng levels. In Autonomic balance test, age from 35 to 40 has the highest autonomic activity and job period from 5 years to 10 years has the highest stress resistance. Non-smokers have high autonomic activity and stress resistance. Further, have low autonomic balance, stress index and fatigue strength. In the case of regular exercising person, he/she has high autonomic activity and stress resistance with low stress index. Regarding sleeping time, autonomic balance is the highest when he/she sleeps less than 6 hours. Stress resistance is the highest when he/she sleeps 7 hours and stress index is the highest when he/she sleeps 6 hours. After comparing the relativity between yangseng level autonomic balance test, only exercise yangseng has plus factor on autonomic activity and stress resistance and minus factor on stress ind ex and fatigue strength. Yangseng level has been affected by individual character and daily habits. Also stress is more influenced by daily habits than by individual character. We can find the relativity of exercise yangseng between yangseng and stress which suggests that we need to take measures to win over stress in individual health in the near future.

서울시 보육교사의 구강보건인식도 및 구강건강관리 행태 (Recognition and performance of preschool teachers on children's oral health in Seoul)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the recognition of the educators in preschool education institutions on children's oral health promotion. Methods : The subjects of this study included 918 preschool teachers who have been performing an oral health education program for children at preschool centers in Seoul. For this study, the survey was conducted from September 2008 to November 2008 through a questionnaire. Results : It has been found that 58.5% of the given preschool institutions have implemented an oral health promotion program and 99.1% of the respondents recognized the importance of the oral health. 53.9% of the respondents used sweets as a reward for good deeds. Regarding the behaviors of oral health promotion, the daily tooth-brushing and the implementation of a regular oral check-up accounted for 69.0% and 59.5% respectively. The subjects recognized that they have responsibility for the tooth-brushing instruction(91.6%) and provision of an oral inspection(78.3%). It has been also found that the case of performing the oral health program with older age and higher work experiences was significantly high(p<0.05). Conclusions : The recognition and performance of kindergarten teachers on children's oral health affects daily life and healthful living habits of children. Therefore oral health education program for the teachers has to be developed.

조선 인조(仁祖)의 질병관리 중 약죽(藥粥)의 적용과 의미에 관한 고찰 - 승정원일기 기록을 중심으로 - (Review of Application of Medicinal Porridges by King-Injo of the Joseon Dynasty - Based on the Records from The Daily Records of the Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty -)

  • During the Joseon Dynasty, medicinal foods derived from herbs were often more effective than traditional medicines. In addition, the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty believed that foods could be used as various disease treatments. Grain-based foods, especially medicinal porridges (藥粥), were most frequently used for diet therapy. We investigated various types of diet-related diseases suffered by King Injo (仁祖) as well as how the diseases were treated using medicinal porridges based on information in the SeungjeongwonIlgi (承政院日記), which is the daily record of the Royal Secretariat of the Joseon Dynasty. This study examined the SeungjeongwonIlgi of King Injo from his1st year (1623) to 27th year (1649) on a website database maintained by the National Institute of Korean History. According to the records, King Injo suffered from severe diarrhea several times due mainly to febrile disease (煩熱症) as well as abdominal dropsy (脹滿) throughout his entire life. Major diseases affecting King Injo were due to his unhealthy eating habits and psychological factors. For treatment, royal doctors prescribed around 15 medicinal porridges, including nelumbo (seed) porridge (Yeonja-juk), milk porridge (Tarak-juk), Chinese dioscorea porridge (Sanyak-juk), mungbean porridge (Nokdu-juk), perilla seed porridge (Imja-juk), adzuki-bean porridge (Pat-juk), soybean porridge (Kong-juk), Korean-leek porridge (Buchu-juk), and so on, in addition to other medical treatments. Diet therapy using medicinal porridges has been used throughout history since the Joseon Dynasty period. However, knowledge of traditional diet therapy and medicinal porridges used by monarchs in the Joseon Dynasty is insufficient. Therefore, in-depth study is needed to understand the theory of traditional medicinal foods as well as explore their application to patients in the context of modern medicine.
