  • This study aimed at validating the adopted numerical methods to solve two-phase flow around a two-dimensional (2D) rectangular floating structure in regular waves. A structure with a draft equal to one half of its height was hinged at the center of gravity and free to roll with waves that had the same period as the natural roll period of a rectangular barge. In order to simulate the 2D incompressible viscous two-phase flow in a wave tank with the rectangular barge, the present study used the volume of fluid (VOF) method based on the finite volume method with a standard turbulence model. In addition, the sliding mesh technique was used to handle the motion of the rectangular barge induced by the fluid-structure interaction. Consequently, the present results for the flow field and roll motion of the structure had good agreement with those of the relevant previous experiment.

  • In this study, reflection coefficients of regular and random waves propagating over multi-arrayed trenchs are calculated respectively. When the row of trench is 3, the reflection coefficient of regular waves is more than 0.7 as maximum value. Similarly, when the row of trench is 3 and $d/L_1$ is 0.22, reflection coefficient of multi-directional random waves is more than 0.4 maximally.

  • Purpose: Only a few studies have explored nationwide trends in lipid profiles among Asian adolescents. We aimed to assess trends in lipid profiles and the associated lifestyle factors among Korean children. Methods: We analyzed data for 2,094 adolescents who were aged 10-18 years and had participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys in 1998 and 2010. Results: During 1998-2010, the prevalence of obesity significantly increased in boys, but no changes were observed in girls. Over this period, there was a small but significant decrease in the mean lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol level in boys (1998, 87.5 mg/dL; 2010, 83.6 mg/dL; P=0.019) and mean triglyceride levels in girls (1998, 90.8 mg/dL; 2010, 85.8 mg/dL; P=0.020). There were no significant changes in the prevalence of dyslipidemia in boys, but a modest decrease was noted in girls (1998, 25.1%; 2010, 18.3%; P=0.052). During the study period, the prevalence of breakfast skipping decreased, whereas that of regular exercise increased in both groups. Daily total energy intake did not change between these years. In multivariable logistic regression analyses, breakfast skipping was associated with increased risk of hyper-LDL-cholesterolemia in boys (odds ratio [OR], 5.77) and hypertriglyceridemia (OR, 2.27) in girls. Regular exercise was associated with decreased risk of hypo-HDL-cholesterolemia (OR, 0.40) in boys. Conclusion: Although the prevalence of obesity in boys increased, favorable or constant trends in lipid profiles were observed among Korean adolescents during 1998-2010. Decrease in breakfast skipping and increase in regular exercise may have contributed to these trends.

  • In each step of the quasi-minimal residual (QMR) method which uses a look-ahead variant of the nonsymmetric Lanczos process to generate basis vectors for the Krylov subspaces induced by A, it is necessary to decide whether to construct the Lanczos vectors $v_{n+l}\;and\;w{n+l}$ as regular or inner vectors. For a regular step it is necessary that $D_k\;=\;W^{T}_{k}V_{k}$ is nonsingular. Therefore, in the floating-point arithmetic, the smallest singular value of matrix $D_k$, ${\sigma}_min(D_k)$, is computed and an inner step is performed if $\sigma_{min}(D_k)<{\epsilon}$, where $\epsilon$ is a suitably chosen tolerance. In practice it is absolutely impossible to choose correctly the value of the tolerance $\epsilon$. The subject of this paper is to show how discrete stochastic arithmetic remedies the problem of this tolerance, as well as the problem of the other tolerances which are needed in the other checks of the QMR method with the estimation of the accuracy of some intermediate results. Numerical examples are used to show the good numerical properties.

  • The early Renaissance artist Albrecht $D{\ddot{u}}rer$ is an amateur mathematician. He published a book on geometry. In the second part of that book, $D{\ddot{u}}rer$ gave compass and straight edge constructions for the regular polygons from the triangle to the 16-gon. For mathematics education, I extracted base constructions of polygon constructions. And I also showed how to use $D{\ddot{u}}rer^{\prime}s$ idea in constructing divergent forms with compass and ruler. The contents of this paper can be expected to be the baseline data for mathematics education.

  • Lateral sway is most likely to control the design of semi-rigid steel frames where the frame arrangements do not include any form of bracing. This paper investigates the sway behaviour of semi-rigid regular steel frames i.e., frames having the same arrangement of beam and column sections at all levels, and hence proposes some design charts for the prediction of sway that eliminate the need for doing any numerical modelling. Schueller's equation has also been modified to incorporate connection flexibility in addition to its original rigid frame considerations. All the proposed methods have been validated using results obtained from numerical analysis.

  • Nylon 6 staple ultramicrofiber(UMF, 0.074) and regular staple fiber (Regular, 2.0d) were annealed at In, 130, 160 and $180^\circ{C}$ under tension free for 10 min and U min. The treated fibers were dyed with Acid Red 18 and Blue n3. They were adjusted at PH 5.0 of dye bath in buffer solution of $CH_3COOH/CH_3/COONa(0.1mo1/1)$. Liquor ratio was kept at 1000:1. Dyeing rate of UMF annealed at $100^\circ{C}$ was decreased, but was increased for regular nylon. Also dye equilibrium of UMF at $100^\circ{C}$ was increased for Acid Red 18, but was decreased for Acid Blue 83. The intensities of X-ray diffraction peaks of UMF increased with increasing annealing temperature. Also the crystallinity of heat-sotted fibers by DSC thermogram was well agreed with the tendency of density Amino end group, moisture regain and water absorbency were decreased with increasing annealing temperature.

  • This report is study about difference of H-D curve in regular film and ortho type film, and obtained results as follows : 1. In the blue-color emission intensifying screen, ortho type films and in the green-color emission intensifying screens, regular type are decreased in their gradient. 2. When joint use of regular type film and ortho type film, the gradient difference not seen in blue color screen. 3. The gradient difference seen clearly in G4, KM screens(green color emission intensifying). Especially, in part of high film density, the gradient difference are great. So we have to right use of screen and film because not matched used of theare the sensitivity and gradient are decrease.

  • Unlike regular images, there is no ground truth for bio surface images. Result of biosurface imaging is not only significantly affected by the environment and the condition of the bio surface, it requires more detailed expression than regular images. Therefore, unlike algorithms tested on regular images, studies on bio surface images requires a highly precise optimization process. We aim to optimize the graph cut algorithm, known to be the most outstanding among the stereo visions, by considering baseline, lambda, and disparity range. Optimal results were in the range of 1~10 for lambda. The disparity ranged from -30 to -50, indicating an optimal value in a slightly higher range. Furthermore, we verified the tested optimization data using SIFT.

  • Where S is a pomonoid, let Pos-S be the category of S-posets and S-poset maps. We start off by characterizing the pomonoids S for which all projectives in this category are either generators or free. We then study the notions of regular injectivity and weakly regularly d-injectivity in this category. This leads to homological classification results for pomonoids. Among other things, we get find relationships between regular injectivity in the slice category Pos-S/BS, for any S-poset BS, and generators and cyclic projectives in Pos-S.
