Assessing Climate Change Impacts on Hydrology and Water Quality using SWAT Model in the Mankyung Watershed (SWAT 모형을 이용한 기후변화에 따른 만경강 유역에서의 수문 및 수질 영향 평가)

  • The objective of this study was to estimate the climate change impact on water quantity and quality to Saemanguem watershed using SWAT (Soil and water assessment tool) model. The SWAT model was calibrated and validated using observed data from 2008 to 2017 for the study watershed. The $R^2$ (Determination coefficient), RMSE (Root mean square error), and NSE (Nash-sutcliffe efficiency coefficient) were used to evaluate the model performance. RCP scenario data were produced from 10 GCM (General circulation model) and all relevant grid data including the major observation points (Gusan, Jeonju, Buan, Jeongeup) were extracted. The systematic error evaluation of the GCM model outputs was performed as well. They showed various variations based on analysis of future climate change effects. In future periods, the MIROC5 model showed the maximum values and the CMCC-CM model presented the minimum values in the climate data. Increasing rainfall amount was from 180mm to 250mm and increasing temperature value ranged from 1.7 to $5.9^{\circ}C$, respectively, compared with the baseline (2006~2017) in 10 GCM model outputs. The future 2030s and 2070s runoff showed increasing rate of 16~29% under future climate data. The future rate of change for T-N (Total nitrogen) and T-P (Total phosphorus) loads presented from -26 to +0.13% and from +5 to 47%, respectively. The hydrologic cycle and water quality from the Saemanguem headwater were very sensitive to projected climate change scenarios so that GCM model should be carefully selected for the purpose of use and the tendency analysis of GCM model are needed if necessary.

The Development of a Theoretical Model of Integrated Medical Humanity Curriculum Using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics Model (융합인재교육 이론모형 틀에 기반을 둔 통합의료인문학 교육과정 이론모형의 제안)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a theoretical model for an integrated medical humanities curriculum based on a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education framework and to provide a guideline for curriculum integration. Three dimensions of integrated curriculum development are competencies, core contents, and elements of integration. Competencies imply the purpose of the medical humanities of a medical school and the exit outcomes of the curriculum. Core contents imply the goals and objectives of the curriculum. We compared the goals and themes of the medical humanities with core attributes of professionalism. Four elements of integration were proposed: units (cases, problem activities, core contents, disciplines/subjects), types (multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary), contexts of integration (life cycle of patients, scope of society), and stages of student development (from student to doctor). It is expected that this theoretical model for an integrated medical humanities curriculum can be used as a guideline for curriculum development and an evaluation criterion for instructional designers and subject matter experts.

Development of ACBIO: A Biosphere Template Using AMBER for a Potential Radioactive Waste Repository (AMBER를 이용한 방사성폐기물처분장 생태계 평가 템플릿 ACBIO 개발)

  • Nuclides in radioactive wastes are assumed to be transported in the geosphere by groundwater and probably discharged into the biosphere. Quantitative evaluation of doses to human beings due to nuclide transport in the geosphere and through the various pathways in the biosphere is the final step of safety assessment of the radioactive waste repository. To calculate the flux to dose conversion factors (DCFs) for nuclides appearing at GBIs with their decay chains, a template ACBIO which is an AMBER case file based on mathematical model for the mass transfer coefficients between the compartments has been developed considering material balance among the compartments in biosphere and then implementing to AMBER, a general and flexible software tool that allows to build dynamic compartment models. An illustrative calculation with ACBIO is shown.

  • A smart card based on the existing Java card platform executes and installs an application only when the power is supplied for a minute. And preparing for unexpected power outrage, the execution state of an application and all the data that are modified during execution are saved in the heap. This kind of frequent data update of an EEPROM data is a main cause of reducing the life-cycle of a smart card. This is because the smart card has been developed not considering the current situation that the power is always supplied, and by this time it has continuously kept its old architecture. This paper explains the high performance Java card system free power restriction. The system improves not only application saving mechanism, but memory architecture. In special, we deploy RAM for running an applet, as well as EEPROM for downloading an application. Through proposed mechanism, we can find out performance evaluation that the creation speed of an applet and the execution speed of a method increase up to 58% and 33% respectively.

  • Presently, It is required to change convergence the role of hardware system and software technology that promoted trust of In-Vehicle for integrated complex system visibility evaluation. There is possibility for the period system can invoke unpredictable confusing blank state. The blank state systems have ecosystem characteristics that are supplied, maintained and operated through the complex interactions of technology and culture. Using universal middleware can support the life-cycle model and increase the visibility of complex systems and prepare for confusing situations. In this study, based on universal middleware, data and service dynamic standardized modules were evaluated to support stable system visibility platform. The system visibility module consists of Intelligent Pervasive Cloud module, Memorial Service module and Life Cycler connection module. In addition, the analysis results are supported by various network application service standards through platform independent system and architecture.

  • Software maintenance accounts for a large portion of the software life cycle cost. In the software maintenance phase, comprehending the legacy source code is inevitable, which takes most of the time. Source code readability is a metric of the extent of code readers' difficulty of code comprehension based on the source code itself. The better the code is readable, the easier it is for code readers to comprehend the source code. This paper proposes novel source code readability metric to quantitative measure the extent of current source code under development, which is more enhanced measurement method than previous research that dichotomously judges whether the source code was readable or not. As an evaluation, we carried out a survey and analyzed them with Regression Analysis to find best parameters of the metric.

  • This paper reviews the current development of an ultra-slim SiP for Radio Frequency (RF) application, in which three flip chips, additional passive components and Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filters are integrated side-by-side. A systematic investigation is carried out for the design optimization, process and reliability improvement of the package, which comprises several aspects: a design study based on the 3D thermo-mechanical finite element analysis of the packaging, the determination of stress, warpage distribution, critical failure zones, and the figuration of the effects of material properties, process conditions on the reliability of package. The optimized material sets for manufacturing process were determined which can reduce the number of testing samples from 75 to 2. In addition the molded underfilling (MUF) process is proposed which not only saves one manufacturing process, but also improves the thermo-mechanical performance of the package compared with conventional epoxy underfilling process. In the end, JEDEC's moisture sensitivity test, thermal cycle test and pressure cooker tests have also been carried out for reliability evaluation. The test results show that the optimized ultra-slim SiP has a good reliability performance.

Thermal Performance Analysis of Combined Power Plant Using Coal Gas - Development of the Steady-state Model - (석탄가스를 사용하는 복합발전 플랜트의 열성능 해석 -정상상태 성능해석 모델 개발-)

  • As a part of comprehensive IGCC process simulation, the thermal performance analysis was performed for coal gas firing combined power plant. The combined cycle analyzed consisted of il Texaco gasifier and a low temperature gas cleanup system for the gasification block and a GE 7FA gas turbine, a HRSG and steam turbine for the power block. A steady state simulator called ASPEN(Advanced System for Process Engineering) code was used to simulate IGCC processes. Composed IGCC configuration included air integration between ASU and gas turbine and steam integration between gasifier, gas clean up and steam turbine. The results showed 20% increase in terms of gas turbine power output(MWe) comparing with natural gas case based on same heat input. The results were compared with other study results which Bechtel Canada Inc. performed for Nova Scotia power plant in 1991 and the consistency was identified within two studies. As a result, the analysing method used in this study is verified as a sound tool for commercial IGCC process evaluation.

Evaluation of On-Road NOx Emission from a Light Duty Diesel Vehicle using a Portable Emissions Measurement System (이동식 배출가스 측정장비를 이용한 소형 경유 자동차의 실도로 질소산화물 배출특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to quantify the compliance of on-road emission from a light duty diesel vehicle, based on a comparison to emission regulation standard. $NO_x$, CO and THC emissions were measured using a portable device on a selected real-world driving route with a length of approximately 22 km. On-road measurements were repeated by 10 times on a same route to reflect variability in traffic conditions. A test route was divided into 22 road links with length of 1 km to analyze emission results with higher spatial resolution. The average emissions of $NO_x$, CO and THC over total travel distance, which is approximately 220 km, were quantified to be in compliance with emission regulation standards. Under higher spatial resolution, $NO_x$ concentration exceeded a standard in 92 links out of 220 links. The extended time in stop period and the stop-and-go driving cycle were identified as two important reasons for increased $NO_x$ emissions in observed cases. Heavy traffics showed higher $NO_x$ emissions than free flow. These results indicate that the real-world vehicle emissions might exceed the compliance level associate with traffic conditions. Another interesting observation of this research is that the on-road emission characteristics can be independent to the average speed of road links with higher spatial resolution. Variability in on-road emission might not be fully described by solely relying on an average speed, because variability in traffic conditions and road conditions can influence on real-world vehicle emissions.

Study on the Integrated UAV Simulation Environment for the Evaluation of the Midair Collision Alarm System (공중충돌경보시스템 평가를 위한 통합 무인기 시뮬레이션환경 연구)

  • For the commercialization of unmanned aircraft, we must validate the safety of the air/ground collision alert systems (CAS). The validation procedure of CAS requires the flight test which is not only expensive but also dangerous. To alleviate this problem, we need the simulation based validation process for the CAS. We developed an integrated UAV simulation (IUS) environment which interconnect the flight simulator, the Matlab/Simulink, and a target avionics simulation model. We developed the collision warning module of the TCAS and tested using IUS and flight encounter models. Using IUS, we can evaluate the performance and reliability of a target avionic system at the preliminary design stage of a development life cycle.
