  • In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation to increase the effectiveness of industry is becoming more important to achieving the goal of industrial innovation. The digital new deal and smart defense are required for digital transformation and utilize artificial intelligence, big data analysis technology, and the Internet of Things. These changes can innovate the industrial fields of national defense, society, and health with new intelligent services by continuously expanding cyberspace. As a result, work productivity, efficiency, convenience, and industrial safety will be strengthened. However, the threat of cyber-attack will also continue to increase due to expansion of the new domain of digital transformation. This paper presents the risk scenarios of cyber-attack threats in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Further, we propose a preemptive intrusion response model to bolster the complex security environment of the future, which is one of the fundamental alternatives to solving problems relating to cyber-attack. The proposed model can be used as prior research on cyber security strategy and technology development for preemptive response to cyber threats in the future society.

  • As cyber threats in the maritime industry increase due to the digital transformation, the needs for cyber security training for ship's crew and port engineers has increased. The training of seafarers is related to the IMO's STCW convention, so cyber security training also managed and certified, and it is necessary to develop a cybersecurity training system that reflects the characteristics of the OT systemof ships and ports. In this paper, with the goal of developing a training model based on the IMO cyber risk management guideline, developing a cyber security training model based on the characteristics of maritime industry threats, and improving the effectiveness of cyber security training using AR/VR and metaverse, A method for developing a system for nurturing cyber security experts is presented.

  • To develop computer and communication in the information society, difficulties exist in managing the enormous data manually. Also, loss of data due to natural disasters or hacker attacks, generate a variety of disasters in the IT securities. Hence, there is an urgent need for an information protection management system in order to mitigate these incidents. Information Security Management System has various existing frameworks for IT disaster management. These include Cyber Security Framework, Risk Management Framework, ISO / IEC 27001: 2013, and COBIT 5.0. Each framework analyses and compares the entry for IT disaster recovery from among the various available data. In this paper, we describe a single integrated management scheme for fast resolution of IT disasters.

  • Purpose: This study examined a comprehensive model for assessing the success probability of electric vehicle (EV) commercialization in the Korean market. The study identified three risks associated with successful commercialization which were technology, social, policy, environmental, and consumer risk. Research design, methodology: The assessment of the riskiness was represented by a Bayes belief network, where the probability of success at each stage is conditioned on the outcome of the preceding stage. Probability of success in each stage is either dependent on input (i.e., investment) or external factors (i.e., air quality). Initial input stages were defined as the levels of investment in product R&D, battery technology, production facilities and battery charging facilities. Results: Reasonable levels of investment were obtained by expert opinion from industry experts. Also, a survey was carried out with 78 experts consisting of automaker engineers, managers working at EV parts manufacturers, and automobile industry researchers in government think tanks to obtain the conditional probability distributions. Conclusion: The output of the model was the likelihood of success - expressed as the probability of market acceptance - that depended on the various input values. A model is a useful tool for understanding the EV industry as a whole and explaining the likely ramifications of different investment levels.

  • The remote monitoring and warning system for dangerous chemicals is designed with the concept of the Cyber-Physical System (CPS) in this paper. The real-time perception, dynamic control, and information service of major hazards chemicals are realized in this CPS system. The CPS system architecture, the physical layer and the applacation layer, are designed in this paper. The terminal node is mainly composed of the field collectors which complete the data acquisition of sensors and video in the physical layers, and the use of application layer makes CPS system safer and more reliable to monitor the hazardous chemicals. The cloud application layer completes the risk identification and the prediction of the major hazard sources. The early intelligent warning of the major dangerous chemicals is realized and the security risk images are given in the cloud application layer. With the CPS technology, the remote network of hazardous chemicals has been completed, and a major hazard monitoring and accident warning online system is formed. Through the experiment of the terminal node, it can be proved that the terminal node can complete the mass data collection and classify. With this experiment it can be obtained the CPS system is safe and effective. In order to verify feasible, the multi-risk warning based on CPS is simulated, and results show that the system solves the problem of hazardous chemicals enterprises safety management.

  • In recently years, there are cyber-weapon aim to national infrastructure such as 'stuxnet'. Security experts of the world are paying attention to this phenomenon. The networks which controls traffic, subway, waterworks of the city are safe from threats such as computer virus, malware, because the networks were built on closed-networks. However, it's about time to develop countermeasure for the cyber-weapon. In this paper, we review status-quo of the control systems for metropolitan infrastructure and analyze the risk of industrial control system in SCADA(Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) network. Finally, we propose a security model for control systems of metropolitan infrastructure.

  • Damage caused by ransomware has continued to increase since last year, but cyber operations are managed without any separate classification of ransomware types in the military's guidelines for carrying out cyber operations. However, unlike other malware, ransomware is a threat that could paralyze all defense operations in one moment, and the military should reevaluate ransomware and take countermeasures. Accordingly, this paper aims to analyze the assets, vulnerabilities, and threats related to defense information service based on information security risk management, and propose alternatives to ensure continuity of defense work from ransomware threats.

  • Cybersecurity assessment is the process of assessing the risk level of a system through threat and vulnerability analysis to take appropriate security measures. Accurate security evaluation models are needed to prepare for the recent increase in cyberattacks and the ever-developing intelligent security threats. Therefore, we present a risk assessment model through a matrix-based security assessment model analysis that scores by assigning weights across security equipment, intervals, and vulnerabilities. The factors necessary for cybersecurity evaluation can be simplified and evaluated according to the corporate environment. It is expected that the evaluation will be more appropriate for the enterprise environment through evaluation by security equipment, which will help the cyber security evaluation research in the future.

  • The web space where web applications run is the cyber information warfare of attackers and defenders due to the open HTML. In the cyber attack space, about 84% of worldwide attacks exploit vulnerabilities in web applications and software. It is very difficult to detect web vulnerability attacks with security products such as web firewalls, and high labor costs are required for security verification and assurance of web applications. Therefore, rapid vulnerability detection and response in web space by automated software is a key and effective cyber attack defense strategy. In this paper, we establish a security risk management model by intensively analyzing security threats against web applications and software, and propose a method to effectively diagnose web and application vulnerabilities. The testing results on the commercial service are analyzed to prove that our approach is more effective than the other existing methods.

  • In recent years, the development of defense technology has become digital with the introduction of advanced assets such as drones equipped with artificial intelligence. These assets are integrated with modern information technologies such as industrial IoT, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to promote innovation in the defense domain. However, the convergence of the technology is increasing the possibility of transfer of cyber threats, which is emerging as a problem of increasing the vulnerability of defense assets. While the current cybersecurity methodologies focus on the vulnerability of a single asset, interworking of various military assets is necessary to perform the mission. Therefore, this paper recognizes these problems and presents a mission-based asset management and evaluation methodology. It aims to strengthen cyber security in the defense sector by identifying assets that are important for mission execution and analyzing vulnerabilities in terms of cyber security. In this paper, we propose a method of classifying mission dependencies through linkage analysis between functions and assets to perform a mission, and identifying and classifying assets that affect the mission. In addition, a case study of identifying key assets was conducted through an attack scenario.
