  • Rhododendron mucronulatum for. albiflorum, native species is a shrub that has white flowers on May to June, and rare species endangered by people's rash digging or cutting. But its physiological ecological characteristics and propagation method are not being known at all. Therefore, this study was executed to utilize this species as the planting material for landscaping by analysing its habitat environment and growth form, and also experimenting its seed and vegetative propagation, and it field culture and utilization. The results are as follows; 1. The elevation, gradient and direction of this species were 295-1,350m, 10-36$^{\circ}$, northwest respectively. It was found that the species is shade-liking plant that grows under forest cover of average 51.33%. 2. The soil pH and water content of its habitat were 5.4, 25.41% respectively. The organic matter content was 6.29% that was higher than 3.2%, the average organic matter content of forest soil in Korea. 3. Representative plant community within which this species was living was Quercus mongolica community, and its main neighboring species were Lindea obtusiloba, Fraxinus sieboldiana, Rhus trichocarpa, Rhododendron Schlippenbachii, Rododendron mucronulatum. 4. The leaf length and width of this species were 39.18mm, 12.60mm respectively. This result showed that generally its leaf size was larger than that of R. micranthum, R. yedoense var. poukhanense and R. mucronulatum var. ciliatum and smaller than that of R. mucronulatum and R. schlippenbachii. 5. The whole size of its pollen was, as 59${\times}$61$\mu\textrm{m}$, the largest of plants of Rhododendron family including R. mucronulatum and R. mucronulatum var. ciliatum. 6. The result of seed germination experiment at intervals of 5$^{\circ}C$ from 15$^{\circ}C$ to 30$^{\circ}C$ presented the highest germination rate of 94.7% at 20$^{\circ}C$ numerically, but high percent germination at all temperature levels without significant difference. And the seed of this plant proved to be sun-liking seed at requiring dormancy in germination. 7. Through seed germination experiment by treatment of growth regulators such as GA. Thiourea and Kinetin under dark condition, it was found that the effect of GA treatment on germination increase and acceleration was the highest. 8. In greenwood cutting, rooted rate by treatment of various concentration of IBA and NAA on clay and vermiculite bed was not wholly high, but 100ppm plots of both IBA and NAA of clay bed showed relatively good rooted rate. 9. As result of field culture experiment for finding out optimum growth temperature and light intensity, growth conditions such as height, number of leaves, fresh weight and chlorophyll contents were the best at night/day temperature of 20/25$^{\circ}C$ and under 1/2sun. Also, the photosynthetic rate was the highest at 25$^{\circ}C$. Accordingly, it was found that optimum temperature and light intensity for growth of this plant are 25$^{\circ}C$ (day temperature), 50% of natural light respectively.

  • This study was fulfilled to investigate the anatomical characteristics according to provinces. In order to compare anatomical characteristics between provinces we selected Goseong, Hongcheon, and Bonghwa as experimental sites. To use the tree rings formed at the same years we dated all tree rings by cross-dating method used in dendrochronology and the cutting years were successfully dated in 2014, 2012, and 2014 for woods from Goseong, Hongchen, and Bonghwa, respectively. Based on the cutting years tracheid lengths and widths were measured considering juvenile wood (tree rings between the pith and first 10 years), heartwood (tree rings formed between 1955 and 1964), and sapwood (tree rings formed between 2002 and 2011). According to the results about differences between tracheid lengths from three provinces, juvenile wood did not show a difference, statistically, but heartwood and sapwood showed differences as the tracheid lengths following Bonghwa, Hongcheon, and Goseong. Bongwha also showed the largest value in the trachied width among three provinces. The tracheid lengths in the radial direction increased up to around the first 20 years, and then they showed stabilized. All wood samples showed typical Korean red pine's characteristics in anatomical observation under a light microscope.

  • This study was conducted to see the feasibility of breeding for sprout soybean cultivar with minimum benny flavor using lipoxygenase-less lines. Lipoxygenase-less cultivar Jinpumkong2 was crossed by lipoxygenase containing Gwangankong, Sebaeknamulkong, and Pureunkong as paternal parent and 24 lipoxygenase-less lines derived from those 3 combinations were selected and those lines were evaluated with their parental cultivars. Germination rate showed no difference between lipoxygenase-less lines and their parental cultivars, however, rates of normal sprout of those and Jinpumkong2 were 63 and $56\%$, and were lower than that of paternal parents. Hypocotyl length of those was same as Jinpumkong2, however, shorter than paternal parents. Texture characteristics including hardness, cutting force and mastication of 96 hour-cultured sprout of lipoxygenase-less lines showed higher value than that of their parental cultivars. Lipoxtgenase isozyme was not detected in the sprout cotyledon of lipoxygenase-less lines, however it was observed in the sprout hypocotyl of all the used genotypes. Though lipoxygenase activity in the seed of lipoxygenase-less lines was lower than that of Jinpumkong2(0.477, ${Delta}A$ 234 nm min-1 mg meal-1),2 lines revealed more than 0.5 value. Lipoxygenase-activity of 2 day-cultured sprout(both cotyledon and hypocotyl) was the highest, decreased in 3 days after culture and re-increased thereafter. Several lipoxygenase-less lines with lower lipoxygenase activity of sprout than Jinpumkong2 were selected and this suggested the possibility of breeding lines for soy-sprout with low benny flavor.

  • Objectives: This study focused on three aspects: characterizing concentrations of airborne particles by size distributions and asbestos fibers generated by various building materials; analyzing the characteristics of fibers produced by each simulation and asbestos fibers released from ACBMs; and investigating correlations of airborne asbestos fibers and particles generated and association of particle and asbestos concentrations. Methods: We selected three ACBMs including an insulation board, cement asbestos slate and wallboard. We constructed 4 scenarios; a) crushing with a hammer; b) cutting with a industrial knife; c) brushing with a metal brush; and d) tightening & loosening with a hand drill. We implemented one simulation for 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds resting period. We repeated a total of 5 cycles for 5 minutes. Results: The highest concentration of particulate & fibrous matters was from crushing with a hammer in each scenario followed by brushing with a metal brush, cutting with a industrial knife, and tightening & loosening with a hand drill. For ACBMs studied, asbestos concentrations were highest from an insulation board followed by cement asbestos slate, and wallboard. No difference in terms of concentration was found between an insulation board and asbestos slate. Fibers with $5{\sim}20{\mu}m$ in length were included in 76~90% of total fibrous matters. The distribution of the straight form fibers was greater than that of the curl form. About 90% of $PM_{Total}$ released from ACBMs was consisted of $PM_{10}$ while only 10% of $PM_{Total}$ was $PM_{2.5}$. Particulate matters like $PM_{2.5}$ was significantly correlated with fibrous matters($R^2=0.81$). Conclusions: We found ACBMs can significantly release asbestos fibers as well as $PM_{2.5}$. Concentrations of asbestos generated by ACBMs were well correlated with $PM_{2.5}$.

  • Chrysanthemum production would benefit from crop growth simulations, which would support decision-making in crop management. Chrysanthemum is a typical short day plant of which floral initiation and development is sensitive to photoperiod. We developed a model to predict phenological development and leaf appearance of chrysanthemum (cv. Baekseon) using daylength (including civil twilight period), air temperature, and management options like light interruption and ethylene treatment as predictor variables. Chrysanthemum development stage (DVS) was divided into juvenile (DVS=1.0), juvenile to budding (DVS=1.33), and budding to flowering (DVS=2.0) phases for which different strategies and variables were used to predict the development toward the end of each phenophase. The juvenile phase was assumed to be completed at a certain leaf number which was estimated as 15.5 and increased by ethylene application to the mother plant before cutting and the transplanted plant after cutting. After juvenile phase, development rate (DVR) before budding and flowering were calculated from temperature and day length response functions, and budding and flowering were completed when the integrated DVR reached 1.33 and 2.0, respectively. In addition the model assumed that leaf appearance terminates just before budding. This model predicted budding date, flowering date, and leaf appearance with acceptable accuracy and precision not only for the calibration data set but also for the validation data set which are independent of the calibration data set.

  • In general, it accomplished a spectral reflectance analysis to be, the measurement results appear differently by targets, methods and condition. This paper presents a standard methodology for preprocessing mineral/rock samples and setting the distance from a target to the sensor, and then examines closely the spectral features for pyrophyllite. The size of mineral/rock samples is various according to the condition and scale of outcrop, so it is important to maintain the distance between the sensor and the sample. Before standardization for preprocessing samples and the sensor and sample distance, we prepare various rock samples (Quartz Porphyry) such as natural rock, pebble, powder and cutting rock. For a qualitative analysis to minimize the effect of surface condition of the sample and shadow, we maintains the distance from the sample to the sensor at 30cm and measures three times repeatedly for cutting the sample at $1{\sim}2cm$ thickness. To illustrate the proposed methodology, a case study for pyrophyllite was carried out. In this study, pyrophyllite showed an absorption pattern at wave length of 1.406nm, 1,868nm, 2.180nm and 2.309nm, and a higher grade represented strong absorption at 1.406nm and 2.180 nm. These absorption feature corresponds the band 7 of LANDSAT TM and band 8 of ASTER imageries. So, using these results, pyrophyllite deposits were extracted from other features (such as barren area, concrete area, bed of river, stone pit area etc.).

  • The primary goal of this study was to provide a systematic methodology of utilizing 3D technology for tight-fit performance sportswear using information of skin deformation in various posture. Technical tools used in this study are Cyberware whole body scanner, RapidForm2004, 2C-AN 3D pattern development program, and YukaCAD. Analysis of the 3D skin deformation while knee joint was bent from $0^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$ revealed that the length of dermatomes L4 was remained consistent during knee bending. Therefore, L4 was chosen as a major cutting line. To develop a highly ergonomic pattern, replicas of static and dynamic postures were developed and integrated using two methods, one is morphing method (Sqirlz Morph), and the other is AutoCAD. Experimental tight-fit garments called 'Derm-Mov Pattern' was designed using dematomes L4, L2, and inner line under knee and compared with four other patterns. As results, AutoCAD was appropriate as a integrating method of various postures. In wear test, 'Derm-Mov Pattern' was rated high (p < .001), in terms of pressure comfort especially around front crotch area. However, wear sensation was not signipicantly different in other area due to highly extensible property of materials. Pressure distribution was relatively even in these experimental garments.

  • The discontinuity of rock is one of important elements that have impact on the dynamic movement of rock. A slope made of gneiss has complicated geological structure because of the gneiss forming process through metamorphism covering wide range and the anisotropic structure with foliation. In this study, before cutting slope, the rock of slope had been found as a good quality by the boring test. But during construction tension cracks had occurred in the section with 170m length during large-scale excavation work with depth more than 20m. Ground surface geological investigation, boring exploration, resistivity logging and borehole image processing had been done to find the causes of the tension crack. It was possible to estimate the scale of fault existing in large area through resistivity logging and geological investigation. Large scale slickenside and fault clay had been found as the result of comprehensive analysis.

  • This study is about 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' Jeoksam and Hansam in the early days of Joseon Dynasty. A study was done regarding the records of Jeoksam and Hansam in literature, the present state of the excavated 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' clothing Jeoksam and Hansam, and finally a deduction of the reason for the appearance of the 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' clothing Jeoksam and Hansam. The width of front length of 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' clothing in the early days of Joseon Dynasty is 29.5~35 cm and the width of one breath of the sleeve is 29.5~35 cm. The width of 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' is 9.5~16 cm and it is relatively big. Comparing to the width of one breath of the sleeve, it is almost 1:2.2~3.6 ratio. Therefore, when the sleeve was cut, the Mu was linked in order to save fabric the gusset of sleeve had to be folded and turned, and finally it became asymmetric. As a result of the above consideration, since the width of upper garments of $16{\sim}17^{th}$ century was big, the wearing of short tops of Jeoksam or Hansam without side vent as a small 'triangle-Mu' was uncomfortable. Because of this reason, the size had no option but to become bigger. So, during the $16^{th}$ and $17^{th}$ century, a period where mass production of fabric was difficult, the 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' type was considered to be a reasonable cutting method. After the middle of $17^{th}$ century, it can be estimated that 'asymmetry triangle-Mu' clothing disappeared according to the narrow aspect of clothing type.
