고차 모드로 인한 TEM Cell의 대역 제한 (Bandwidth Limitations of the TEM Cell due to Higher Order Modes)

  • In this paper the electric and magnetic field distributions in a TEM cell used for EMC testing are analyzed numerically. The fields are distorted with the increase of frequency. These distortions are due to higher order modes and resonances and cause the bandwidthe limitations in the uae of TEM cels. The upper frequency is lower modes however, are reflected at some points through the tapered ends of the cell. Higher order modes however, are reflected at some points within the tapered region where it becomes too small to support the modes, The first two TE mode(TE$_{01}$ and TE$_{10}$) cutoff frequencies and the first six TE$_mnp$ resonant ferquencies are identified in a TEM cell (1x0 6x2m,w=0.72m) from field patterns and the results are consistent with others' data. The circumferential wall currents to support resonances are shown. For the large cell it is desired to extend the usable frequency range above the cutoff frequency of the first higher order mode. This study proposes an attempt to expand the frequency bandwidth by a resonance suppression.

최적화된 고주파 강조 필터를 이용한 의료영상의 개선 (An Enhancement of Medical Image Using Optimized High-Frequency Emphasis Filter)

  • 영상개선을 위한 영상처리는 응용분야에 따라서 동일한 알고리즘이 각각 다르게 적용되므로 응용분야에 적합한 최적값이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 X선 의료영상분야에 고주파통과 필터를 적용해서 에지영역을 개선하였고, 결과영상에 상수승수와 오프셋을 더하여 에지영역 및 평탄영역의 컨트라스트를 향상시켰다. 그러므로, 의료영상을 최적화시키기 위해서는 고주파강조필터가 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 구체적인 최적화 변수값으로는 가우시안 고주파통과필터, 차단주파수의 거리=0.05, 오프셋=0.5 값이다. 마지막으로 이들 최적화 변수값을 적용시켜 시뮬레이션 한 결과, 제안된 방법이 기존 방법들에 비해서 영상의 컨트라스트와 에지부분들을 향상시켰다.

전류 적분기를 이용한 2V CMOS 연속시간 필터 설계 (Design of 2V CMOS Continuous-Time Filter Using Current Integrator)

  • 본 논문에서는 상보형 high swing cascode 전류미러를 이용하여 저전압, 저전력 구동이 가능하고 고주파수 응용이 가능한 전류 적분기를 설계하였다. 간단한 전류미러로 구성된 적분기는 적분기의 비 이상적인 입력, 출력 저항 때문에 출력 전류 오차가 발생하는데 제안된 전류 적분기는 출력 저항이 증가하여 출력 전류의 오차가 감소하였다. 설계된 무손실, 유손실 전류 적분기를 이용한 설계 예로 3차 버터워스 저역통과 필터를 개구리도약형으로 구현하였다. 필터 구현시 무손실 전류 적분기의 위상 추이 때문에 발생하는 차단주파수 부근에서의 크기 특성 왜곡을 predistortion 설계법을 이용하여 감소시켰다. 설계된 전류모드 필터를 0.8㎛ CMOS n-well 공정 파라미터를 이용하여 SPICE 시뮬레이션한 결과 단일 2V 공급 전압에서 차단주파수는 20MHz, 전력소모는 615㎼를 갖는다. 또한 필터의 차단주파수는 DC 바이어스 전류에 의해 동조 할 수 있다.

Microstrip Coupled-Line Lowpass Filter with Wide Stopband for RF/Wireless Systems

  • We present the design of a compact microstrip lowpass filter with a wide stopband which is up to ten times the cutoff frequency. The filter is based on a coupled-line configuration and shunt open stubs. The open stubs create additional transmission zeros, which are used to extend the stopband of the filter without any additional components or cascaded units. A prototype lowpass filter with a 3 dB cutoff frequency of 0.428 GHz and a 15 dB stopband extended up to 4.77 GHz is fabricated to validate the theoretical predictions.

공력음향학적 특성을 고려한 시로코 팬의 설계 방법 (Design Method of the Sirocco Fan Considering Aeroacoustic Performance Characteristics)

  • A design method of Sirocco fan is developed for constructing 3-D impeller and scroll geometries, and for predicting both the aerodynamic performance and the noise characteristics of the designed fan. The aerodynamic blading design of fan is conducted by blade angle, camber line determinations and airfoil thickness distribution, and then the scroll geometry of fan is designed by using logarithmic spiral. The aerodynamic performance of designed fan is predicted by the meanline analysis with flow blockage, slip and pressure loss correlations. Based on the predicted performance data, fan noise is predicted by two models for cutoff frequency and broadband noise sources. The present predictions for the performance and the noise level of actual fans are well agreed with measurement results.

상보형 전류미러를 이용한 저전압 전류모드 필터의 설계 (Low-voltage current-mode filters using complementary current mirrors)

  • In this paper, a design of current-mode continuous-time filters for low voltage and high frequency applictions using complementary bipolar current mirror paris is presented. The proposed current-mode filters consist of simple bipolar current mirrors and capacitors and are quite suitable for monolithic integrtion. Since the design method of the proposed curent-mode filters is based on the integrator type of realization, it can be used for a wide range of applications. And the cutoff frequency of th efilters can be easily changed by the DC cntrolling current. As design examples, the 5th order butterworth filters are designed by cascade and leapfrog methods with tunable cutoff frequencies from 30MHz to 100MHz. The characteristics of the designed current mode filters are simulated and examined by SPICE using standard bipolar transistor parameters.

  • A method of calculating wear volume is developed using the signal processing technique. The lowpass filter with Fourier transform and the “windowing” are implemented in the method. User-defining feature is also included in determining the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter and the baseline for the volume integration. Commercial software, MatLab, is used for the programming. Since the method uses the original wear data without simplifying the wear shape, it can give a further accurate result than the previously utilized methods, which often adopted the simplification. It becomes further powerful if the contacting body has a general shape rather than that gives well-formed surface traction (e.g., the Hertzian). The validation of applying the average surface roughness, Ra, to the “windowing” and the baseline for volume integration is discussed.

  • The cutoff frequency of a LC output filter for Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR) limits the control bandwidth of a DVR system and the attenuation factor against the inverter switching ripples. For a selected cutoff frequency of a LC output filter, infinite number of L-C combinations is possible. Although different L-C combination has different filter characteristics, the filter design on L-C combination has been depended on field experiences without clear analysis. This paper proposes a design criterion and design examples for the L-C filter combination considering the control characteristics and the size of DVRs. An experimental DVR system based on the proposed LC output filter design methodology is built and tested.

THz Filter Using the Transverse-electric (TE1) Mode of the Parallel-plate Waveguide

  • The results of the experimental and theoretical studies conducted on terahertz filtering using two parallel-plate waveguides (PPWGs) are presented herein. The first PPWG with 355 ${\mu}m$ plate separation generates 4 THz bandwidth TM modes ($TM_0,\;TM_2,\;and\;TM_4$), whereas the second PPWG with 100 ${\mu}m$ plate separation operated the THz filter for the generated TM modes with 1.5 THz cutoff frequency. The outgoing THz wave of the two PPWGs was truncated until 1.5 THz, and the system was operated using a high-pass THz filter. The absorption and dispersion of the combined TM and TE modes for the filtering system were calculated. The theoretical calculation and measurement results for the cutoff and oscillation frequency in the spectrum domain agreed well.

A Dual-Band Through-the-Wall Imaging Radar Receiver Using a Reconfigurable High-Pass Filter

  • A dual-band through-the-wall imaging radar receiver for a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar system was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency bands of the receiver are S-band (2-4 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). If the target is behind a wall, wall-reflected waves are rejected by a reconfigurable $G_m-C$ high-pass filter. The filter is designed using a high-order admittance synthesis method, and consists of transconductor circuits and capacitors. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned by changing the reference current. The receiver system is fabricated on a printed circuit board using commercial devices. Measurements show 44.3 dB gain and 3.7 dB noise figure for the S-band input, and 58 dB gain and 3.02 dB noise figure for the X-band input. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 0.7 MHz to 2.4 MHz.
