  • The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for a dummy design used I read-made clothing and underwear production I terms of a pattern of breast types based o their morphological characteristics in accordance with different pattern of breast types. The breast's side and frontal views of the breast were measured with 90 junior high school girls of age between 13 and 16 residing in the urban area of Seoul using the plan photogrammetry. 1. The correlation between the side view body measurement and the breast's side and front view were analyzed by using the canonical correlation analysis, whereby the side view body measurement is showing a 39% of the breast's side view and frontal view. 2. The breast's side and front view has been classified by cluster analysis. The results of custer analysis for the breast's side and front view would be turned out the four cluster. 1) The cluster Ⅰ, The most volumed breast's side view.(20%) 2) The cluster Ⅱ, The fastest growing breast's front view.(38%) 3) The cluster Ⅲ, the latest growing breast.(3%) 4) The cluster Ⅳ, the middle degree growing breast.(39%)

  • As the society becomes industrialized and urbanized, men are changed and the speed of change becomes faster and faster. The purpose of this study was to identify the consumer's value systems and clarify how it influence on clothing involvements and shopping orientations. The data were collected via a questionnaire from 423 students of Semyung University in Checheon and data were analyzed by frequency, Crobach's alpha, factor analysis, custer analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, t-test and multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows: According to the value factors students were classified into four groups. Among four groups success pursuit group was the biggest(58.4%). The four groups showed different clothing involvements and shopping orientations. Shopping orientations were influenced by the demorgraphic factors, value systems and clothing involvements. Among seven sopping orientation, entertainment pursuit was the most influenced factor y three factors. Additionally value system, clothing involvements and shopping orientations were influenced by the demographic variables.

  • The races of soybean cyst nematode, Heterodera glycines were investigated at 13 localities in Kyungpook, Chungpook and Cheonnam provinces for the resistant soybean variety selection to soybean cyst nematode. Race C, 1, and 5 were distributed and among them race 5 was dominant in Korea. Native soybean 203 lines and 25 introduced soybean varieties were investigated in field where soybean cyst nematode race 5 infested. As the result, the reproduction of soybean cyst nematode in native soybean lines decreased on entry number 18, 21, 36, 38, 41, 42, 43, 45, 55, 59, 68, 72, 75, 93, 94, 95, 98, 123, 131, 136, 146, 170, 174, 187, 190, 191 than others. And then, in pot experiment, entry number 170 showed moderately resistant with 10 cysts per root, while entry number 55 was decreased reproduction a little and the other 25 line appeared susceptibility. In introduced soybean varieties, Peking, Illsoy and PI90763 showed resistance and not reproduction in field and pot experiment. But Custer, Delmar, Dyer and Jackson represented moderately resistant under 10 cysts, while the other 18 varieties were susceptible. In yield analysis, native soybean line 170 showed the same tendency as Peking and PI90763 known for resistant varieties in decreased rate of branch number, pod number, pod weight per plant and weight of 100 grains. Peking and PI90763 decreased at the rate of under 1.6% in branch number, pod number, pod weight per plant and weight of 100 grains, while Illsoy showed a little higher decreased rate of 3.8% in pod number and 3.4% in pod weight per plant. Custer, Delmar, Dyer and Jackson represented a little higher decreased rate in yield.

  • The purpose of this study is to contemplate the relationship between a cognitive styles(field-independence/dependence, Fl/D)and a technological problem solving(TPS) among the industrial high school students. When it comes to perception, remembrance and consideration, we all have our own individual and steady patterns. We call them cognitive styles. FI/D is one kind of cognitive styles and it is about how dependently we perceive the field which each object has. Custer(1995) presented the technological problem among problem solving existed in various types as organizing it with four conceptional frames, which are invention, design, trouble shooting and procedures. We tested 56students belong to B industrial high school in A city, Korea. We used Group Embedded Figures Test(GEFT) to experiment the FI/D cognitive styles. We also did the TPS test by using an appliance which a researcher has developed. The appliance was made according to the technological problem and its validity was justified by an expert. We came up with a correlation coefficient between the FI/D cognitive styles and TPS to figure out what kind of relationship those two variable factors have and how much they are correlated each other. The correlation coefficient turned out ".59" which means they have significant and positive correlation. To find out the TPS difference between FI group and FD group, we compared each group's TPS score. As a result of the analysis, the FI group's TPS score is significantly higher than FD group's one.

  • All living things have been developed efficient strategies to cope with external and internal environmental changes via a process termed 'homeostasis'. However, chronic prenatal maternal stress may significantly contributes to pregnancy complications by disturbing hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the automatic nervous system (ANS), and results in unfavorable development of the fetus. Dysregulation of these two major stress response systems lead to the increased secretion of the glucocorticoids (GCs) which are known to be essential for normal development and the maturation of the central nervous system. As Hox genes are master key regulators of the embryonic morphogenesis and cell differentiation, we aimed to determine the effects of dexamethasone, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid, on gene expression in mesenchymal stem cell C3H10T1/2. Analysis of 39 Hox genes based on reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) method revealed that the expression patterns of Hox genes were overall upregulated by long dexametasone treatment. These results indicate that maternal stress may have a deleterious effect on early developing embryo through the stress hormone, glucocorticoid.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine potential associations among consumer preference for American beef, consumers' involvement in selection of desired beef, and their intentions to purchase beef. In order to meet the above purpose, this study surveyed the visitors who shopped at 2 big discount stores selected in each of 3 metropolitan cities(Seoul, Daejeon and Daegu) from July 11 to 13, 2008. Total 278 sheets of the questionnaire were collected and used for final data analysis. As a result, it was found that the consumers responded most sensitively to the safety of food when buying beef but didn't care much about the amount of fat and beef brand. In terms of imported beef, it was found that Australian beef was considered reliable by consumers, and their preference for Korean beef was positively correlated with that for Australian beef. In addition, in regard to the attributes of beef selection, it was found that low involvement group had higher intentions to purchase American beef than high involvement group. In order to determine the potential effects of consumers' involvement in the attributes of beef selection on their intentions to purchase American beef, this study conducted data analysis in control of consumer preference for American beef. As a result, it was found that consumers' involvement in the attributes of beef selection had significant effects on their intentions to buy American beef. And sex was found to be one of the demographic characteristics associated with involvement in the attributes of beef selection, particularly associated with low involvement. Depending on sex, it was found that women had lower preference for American beef than men.
