The tensile and fracture toughness tests have been conducted to investigate the degradations of mechanical properties induced mainly by neutron irradiations in Zr-2.5Nb CANDU pressure tube materials operated in Wolsung Unit-1. the tests were performed at room, 150, 200, 250, 300 $\^{C}$ for the irradiated and unirradiated specimens in hot cell. The specimens were directly machined from the tube retaining original curvature using specially designed electric discharge machine(EDM). From the tensile tests of the irradiated specimens, it was found that tensile strength was increased and total elongation was decreased compared to those of the unirradiated ones. The active voltages in the fracture toughness tests for the irradiated showed the discontinuous abrupt increases caused by crack jumping in lower temperature. In the crack resistance curves we found the stable crack growth in the unirradiated, whereas the unstable and three crack growth stages in the irradiated specimens due to the accumulated irradiation defects. The various fracture characteristic values in the irradiated are remarkably lower than those of the unirradiated. Through the fractography, we found in the irradiated that smaller dimple and shorter fissures than the unirradiated, and that the fractured surface had three regions that were flat, transition and slant/shear area. These can explain the difference in the crack growth characteristic values of the irradiated and the unirradiated ones.
Any pre-existed delamination defect present during manufacturing or induce during service loading conditions in the wingskin adherend invariably shows a greater loss of structural integrity of the spar wingskin joint (SWJ). In the present study, inter-laminar delamination propagation at the critical location of the SWJ has been carried out using contact and multi-point constraint finite elements available with commercial FE software (ANSYS APDL). Strain energy release rates (SERR) based on virtual crack closure technique have been computed for evaluation of the opening (Mode-I), sliding (Mode-II) and cross sliding (Mode-III) modes of delamination by sequential release of multi point constraint elements. The variations of different modes of SERR are observed to be significant by considering varied delamination lengths, material properties of adherends and radius of curvature of the SWJ panel. The SERR rates are seen to be much different at the two pre-embedded delamination ends. This shows dissimilar delamination propagation rates. The maximum is seen to occur in the delamination front in the unstiffened region of the wingskin. The curvature geometry and material anisotropy of SWJ adherends significantly influences the SERR values. Increase in the SERR values are observed with decrease in the radius of curvature of wingskin panel, keeping its width unchanged. SWJs made with flat FRP composite adherends have superior resistance to delamination damage propagation than curved composite laminated SWJ panels. SWJ made with Boron/Epoxy (B/E) material shows greater resistance to the delamination propagation.

In this study, a progressive process was performed to fabricate the inner fin of a high-efficiency heat exchanger. A forming simulation was also carried out on the concavo-convex of the inner fin, forming a simulation based on elastic-plastic finite element method. The forming analysis where the speed of the press descended and ascended was set to five seconds showed that the effective stress was at a maximum of about 69 MPa in the curved portion where the bending occurred. Therefore, the die was designed based on the simulation results, and the inner fin die was installed on the 400-ton capacity press. After that, the inner fin fabrication experiment was conducted under the same condition as the simulation. Crack was not found from the curved portion of the concavo-convex of the inner fin. The profile of the concavo-convex of the prepared inner fin measured 6.7~6.8 mm in depth, 2.65~2.7 mm in width, and 0.3 mm in thickness.

Recently, many overpasses, highway, and advanced transit systems have been constructed to distribute the traffic congestion, thus small size of curved bridges with small curvature such as ramp structures have been increasing. Many of early curved bridges had been constructed by using straight beams with curved slabs, but curved steel beams have replaced them due to the cost, aesthetic and the advantage in building the section form and manipulating the curvature of beams, thereby large portion of curved bridges were applied with steel box girders. However, steel box girder bridges needs comparatively high initial costs and continuous maintenance such as repainting, which is the one of the reason for increasing the cost. Moreover, I-type steel plate girder which is being studied by many researchers recently, seem to have problems in stability due to the low torsional stiffness, resulting from the section characteristics with thin plate used for web and open section forms. Therefore, in recent studies, researchers have proposed curved precast PSC girders with low cost and could secured safety which could replace the curved steel girder type bridges. Hence, this study developed a Smart Mold system to manufacture efficient curved precast PSC girders. And by using this mold system a 40 m 2-girder bridge was constructed for a static flexural test, to evaluate the safety and performance under ultimate load. At the manufacturing stage, each single girder showed problems in the stability due to the torsional moment, but after the girders were connected by cross beams and decks, the bridge successfully distributed the stress, thereby the stability was confirmed. The static loading test results show that the initial crack was observed at 1,400 kN when the design load was 450 kN, and the load at the allowable deflection by code was 1,800 kN, which shows that the safety and usability of the curved precast PSC bridge manufactured by Smart Mold system is secured.
Recently, GRS (Geosynthetic Retaining Segmental) wall has been widely used as a method to replace concrete retaining wall because of its excellent structural stability and economic efficiency. It has been variously applied for foundation, slope, road as well as retaining wall. The GRS wall system, however, has a weak point that is serious crack of wall due to stress concentration at curved part of it. In this study, therefore, behaviour of GRS wall according to shape of it, shich has convex and concave, are analysed and compared using Finite Element analysis as the fundamental study for design optimization. Results including lateral deflection, settlements of ground surface and wall obtained from 2D FE analysis are compared between straight and curved parts from 3D FE analysis.

The localization of manufacturing technique development is actualizing for low cost with supplies of display devices. We need more high cutting technique because consumers want flat glasses of various sizes. Recently, most general two methods are normal wheel cutting and laser cutting, but both of them have some faults. First, the wheel cutting has cracks and sharp edges of sections. Second, it is easy for laser cutting to cut curved lines. however, it has thermal damage and low traverse speed. I suggest a new cutting method by high-wave frequency vibration wheel cutting(HFVC), which is good for quality improvement. Vertical cracks and crack depth is observed, after HFVC. When the average of the crack depth is $30{\mu}m$ and the average of the wallner liner depth is $200{\mu}m$, it has the most high quality of the sections in this experiment. As a result, when we consider between the normal wheel cutting method and the HFVC method, the latter has low cracks and good quality.

The pipes have been laid underground while the industry is developing. We have to take maintenance procedure when the pipes are cracked or ruptured. It is very difficult jop to check pipe's crack because the pipes are narrow and laid underground. Using in-pipe robot, we can check the conditions of inner section of pipes, therefore, we designed a crawler type robot to search cracked pipe. In this paper, we have made a special focus on the control of the robot using differential drive algorithm to move in curved section of pipes. The detailed design of the robot with experimental result show the effectiveness of the robot in pipe maintenance.

Ultrasonic machining is effective for machining of extreme hard and brittle materials, including glass, ceramic, carbide, graphite. The major machining principle involves the direct hammering as well as the impact of abrasive panicles on the workpiece. Also, it involve cavitation erosion. The general workpiece is flat side. This study attempted micro hole machining of a curved surface of glass tube. Ultrasonic machining is fault of the slow machining speed. An experiment does and got 16 seconds validity machining time as increasing the processing speed. Moreover, entrance crack and surface roughness was similar both machining speed is slow and fast. Several micro hole of glass tube machined using one micro tool, but tool wear is infinitesimal.

The purpose of this study is to develop of unbonded tendon model considering time-dependent behavior. In this paper, a numerical model for unbanded tendon is proposed based on the finite element method, which can represent straight or curved unbonded tendon behavior. This model and time-dependent material model are used to investigate the time-dependent behaviors of unbonded prestressed concrete structures. A computer program, named RCAHEST(Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of concrete structures was used. The material nonlinearities are taken into account by comprising the tension, compression, and shear models of cracked concrete and models for reinforcements and tendons in the concrete. The smeared crack approach is incorporated. It accounts for the aging, creep and shrinkage of concrete and the stress relaxation of prestressing steel. The proposed unbonded tendon model and numerical method for time-dependent behavior of unbonded prestressed concrete structures is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.
In this study, the seismic performance of the connections between L-shaped columns composed of concrete-filled steel tubes (L-CFST columns) and H-beams used in high-rise steel frame structures was investigated. Seven full-scale specimens were tested under quasi-static cyclic loading. The variables studied in the tests included the joint type, the axial compression ratio, the presence of concrete, the width-to-thickness ratio and the internal extension length of the side plates. The hysteretic response, strength degradation, stiffness degradation, ductility, plastic rotation capacity, energy dissipation capacity and the strain distribution were evaluated at different load cycles. The test results indicated that both the corner and exterior joint specimens failed due to local buckling and crack within the beam flange adjacent to the end of the side plates. However, the failure modes of the interior joint specimens primarily included local buckling and crack at the end plates and curved corners of the beam flange. A design method was proposed for the flexural capacity of the end plate connection in the interior joint. Good agreement was observed between the theoretical and test results of both the yield and ultimate flexural capacity of the end plate connection.
