  • DSP chip parameters of a digital hearing aid (HA) should be optimally selected or fitted for hearing impaired persons. The more precise parameter fitting guarantees the better compensation of the hearing loss (HL). Digital HAs adopt DSP chips for more precise fitting of various HL threshold curve patterns. A specific DSP chip such as Gennum GB3211 was designed and manufactured in order to match up to about 4.7 billion different possible HL cases with combination of 7 limited parameters. This paper deals with a digital HA fitting program which is developed for optimal fitting of GB3211 DSP chip parameters. The fitting program has completed feature from audiogram input to DSP chip interface. The compensation effects of the microphone and the receiver are also included. The paper shows some application examples.

  • We are interested in the curve fitting problems in such a way that the sum of the squares of the orthogonal distances to the given data points is minimized. Especially, the fitting an ellipse to the given data points is a problem that arises in many application areas, e.g. computer graphics, coordinate metrology, etc. In [1] the problem of fitting ellipses was considered and numerically solved with general purpose methods. In this paper we present another new ellipse fitting algorithm. Our algorithm if mainly based on the steepest descent procedure with the view of ensuring the convergence of the corresponding quadratic function Q(u) to a local minimum. Numerical examples are given.

  • We predict the unknown cannon tube erosion rate by using observed values of the standard cannon, 155mm Howitzer Ml85. We know the standard cannon's ten erosion observation values each 400 rounds. An approximate formula fitting the erosion values of the standard cannon has been derived. Numerical simulation applying this formula to the Rauf Imam's erosion equations is presented.

  • In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the distorted signals due to Current Transformer(CT) saturation is suggested, First, DWT which can be easily realized by filter banks in real-time applications is used to detect a start point and an end point of the saturation. Secondly, For enough Datas those need to use the least-square curve fitting method, the distorted current signal is compensated by the AR(autoregressive) model using the data during the previous healthy section until pick point of Saturation. Thirdly, the least-square curve fitting method is used to restore the distorted section of the secondary current. Finaly, this algorithm had a Hadware test using DSP board(TMS320C32) with Doble test device. DWT has superior detection accuracy and the proposed compensation algorithm which shows very stable features under various levels of remanent flux in the CT core is also satisfactory. And this algorithm is more correct than a previous algorithm which is only using the LSQ fitting method. Also it can be used as a MU involving the compensation function that acquires the second data from CT and PT.

  • The recent stream to reliability prediction is that it is totally inclusive in depth to consider even the operating and environmental condition at the level of finished goods as well as component itselves. In this study, firstly we present the reliability prediction methods by entire failure rate model which failure rate at the system level is added to the failure rate model at the component level. Secondly we build up the improved bases of reliability demonstration through a, pp.ication of Kaplan-Meier, Cumulative hazard, Johnson's methods as non-parametric and Maximum Likelihood Estimator under exponential & Weibull distribution as parametric. And also present the methods of curve fitting to piecewise failure rate under Weibull distribution, PRST (Probability Ratio Sequential Test), curve fitting to S-shaped reliability growth curve, computer programs of each methods. Lastly we show the practical for determination of optimal burn-in time as a method of reliability enhancement, and also verify the practical usefulness of the above study through the a, pp.ication of failure and test data during 1 year.

  • Automotive industries are interested in material development with low weight and recycling. Grommet is made from EPDM at rubber and used as an automotive component. The nonlinear material properties of rubber are important to predict the behaviors of rubber product. This study concerns material property test to achieve stress-strain curve. Curve fitting is carried out to obtain the nonlinear material constant. The nonlinear material constants of rubber are used for the nonlinear finite element analysis. The results of finite element analysis is executed to predict the behavior property of grommet.

  • A new analytical model which can discribe the relationship between the bridging stress and the crack opening displacement was proposed to investigate the microstructural effect on the R-curve behavior in a polycrystalline alumina. The crack opening displacement according to the distance behind the stationary crack tip was measured using in-situ fracture technique in an SEM, and then used for a fitting procedure to obtain the distribution of bridging stress. The current model and an empirical power law relation were introduced into the fitting procedure. The results indicated that the bridging stress function and R-curve computed by the current model were consistent with those computed by the power law relation. The microstructural factor, e.g., the distribution of grain size, was also found to be closely related to the bridging stress. Thus, this model explained well the interaction effect between the distribution of bridging stress and the local-fracture-controlling microstructure, providing important information for the systematic interpretation of microfracture mechanism including R-curve behavior of a monolithic alumina.

  • Many various products are manufactured which have sculptured surfaces recently. Constructing surface of these models is required technique called reverse engineering. In reverse engineering, a product which has sculptured surfaces is measured and we create surface model to acquire complete model data of object. Measured point data needs preprocess and sampling. Next a set of point data in a plane fit section curve. At last, surface is generated by fitting to section curves. Here we uses sweep surface. Sweep surface is compatible fitting CAD model to drawing. This paper discusses converting approximation of NURBS surface as a standard surface.

  • The current study aims to determine the limit strains more accurately and reasonably when producing a forming limit curve (FLC) from experiments. The international standard ISO 12004-2 in its recent version (2008) states that the limit major strain should be determined by using the best-fit inverse second-order parabola through the experimental strain distribution. However, in cases where fracture does not occur at the center of the specimen, due to insufficient lubrication, the inverse parabola does not give a realistic fit because of its intrinsic symmetry in shape. In this study it is demonstrated that an inverse quartic function can give a much better fit than an inverse parabola in almost all FLC test samples showing asymmetric strain distributions. Using a quartic fit creates more reliable FLCs.

  • In this paper, to quantitatively evaluate the degree of rehabilitation for the disabled of unilateral lower extremity, we compared the EMG pattern of normal and simulated abnormal gait. The EMG signal was measured at a rate of 1 kHz on the quadriceps and biceps femoris, the pressure sensor was attached to the sole in order to distinguish the gait cycle. Integrated EMG (IEMG) was obtained by the gait cycle, and classified four patterns that were the normal gait pattern, amplitude decrease pattern, reversed pattern, and irregular pattern. For comparison of the patterns, a curve fitting was performed using the trigonometric functions. The result of curve fitting, the method using a variable A that corresponds to the amplitude of the regression curve was able to distinguish the reverse pattern and remaining pattern. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) representing coincidence of the pattern of the regression curve and EMG was confirmed the biggest value at the normal gait. Therefore, the degree of normal gait can be confirmed using the coefficient of determination. This results show that it is possible to quantitatively confirm the degree of unilateral lower extremity disabled rehabilitation, and it will be contributed to the study of efficient rehabilitation methods by objective analysis.
