  • Feature ranking is useful to gain knowledge of data and identify relevant features. In this study, we proposed a use of feature ranking for classification of neuro-degeneration and vascular dementia in micro-Raman spectra of platelet. The entire region of the spectrum is divided into local region including several peaks, followed by Gaussian curve fitting method in the region to be modeled. Local minima select from the subregion and then remove the background based on the position by using interpolation method. After preprocessing steps, significant features were selected by feature ranking method to improve the classification accuracy and the computational complexity of classification system. PCA (principal component analysis) transform the selected features and the overall features that is used classification with the number of principal components. These were classified as MAP (maximum a posteriori) and it compared with classification result using overall features. In all experiments, the computational complexity of the classification system was remarkably reduced and the classification accuracy was partially increased. Particularly, the proposed method increased the classification accuracy in the experiment classifying the Parkinson's disease and normal with the average 1.7 %. From the result, it confirmed that proposed method could be efficiently used in the classification system of the neuro-degenerative disease and vascular dementia of platelet.

  • The use of pile reinforcement is considered as one of the most promising techniques for improving load carrying capacity of piles in offshore area. In this study, to consider the horizontal and uplift bearing capacity of submerged breakwater bearing pile, exclusive analysis on load-transfer behaviour of pile was conducted. First of all, check the reinforcing effect from the three-dimensional finite element method, and estimate load transfer curve (ground reaction force). Based on these results, the reinforcing effect was quantified by estimating the coefficients of horizontal and uplift reinforcement of reinforced piles. Load transfer function with consideration of the reinforcing effect was proposed from estimated coefficients. A comparison of the analysis using the proposed load transfer function with three-dimensional finite element analysis has resulted that the proposed load transfer function is displaying good accuracy of predicting behavior of the load transfer between the pile and soil reinforcement. Interpretation of the submerged structure by applying a load transfer function considering the reinforcing effect, has shown that the reinforced pile's shear, bending moment and displacement are less than that of non-reinforced piles, while the subgrade reaction modulus arises greater. Thus, it is expected to be relatively cost effective in terms of design.

  • The calibration of resistance factor in reliability theory for limit state design of gravel compaction piles (GCP) requires a reliable estimate of ultimate bearing capacity. The static load test is commonly used in geotechnical engineering practice to predict the ultimate bearing capacity. Many graphical methods are specified in the design standard to define the ultimate bearing capacity based on the load-settlement curve. However, it has some disadvantages to ensure reliability to obtain an uniform ultimate load depend on engineering judgement. In this study, a well-fitting nonlinear regression model is proposed to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity, for which a nonlinear regression analysis is applied to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity of GCP and the results are compared with those calculated using previous graphical method. Affect the resistance factor of the estimate method were analyzed. To provide a database in the development of limit state design, the load test conditions for predicting the ultimate bearing capacity from static load test are examined.

  • The GPS satellite has three or four atomic clocks that consist of cesiums and rubidiums and the NANU messages can be used to identify the kind of the onboard atomic clock because they classify the clock type on a daily basis. In this study, for long-term analysis of the GPS satellite clock behavior, we extracted satellite clock errors for every PRN from years 2001 through 2009 using the SP3 files that are provided by the IGS. As a result, the cesium clock offsets usually have a linear trend of drifting. On the other hand, rubidium offsets show curvilinear variations in general, even though they cannot be represented as anyone specific polynomial function. For short-term analysis, we extracted satellite clock errors for each PRN for a week-long period using the CLK files that are also provided by the IGS and curve-fitted them with first-order and second-order polynomial functions. In cases of cesium clock errors, they were well-represented by first-order polynomial functions and rubidium clock errors were similar with second-order polynomials. However, some of rubidium clock errors could not be represented as any polynomial fitting function. To analyze the characteristic of GPS satellite by each block and atomic clock, we applied Modified Allan Deviation criterion to the dataset from years 2007 and 2010. We found that the Modified Allan Deviation characteristics changed significantly according the block and atomic clock type.

  • Background: Cervical cancer is a major public health problem worldwide. There have been several studies indicating that risk is associated with geographic location and that the incidence of cervical cancer has changed over time. In Thailand, incidence rates have also been found to be different in each region. Methods: Participants were women living or having lived in upper Northern Thailand and subjected to cervical screening at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital between January 2010 and December 2014. Generalized additive models with Loess smooth curve fitting were applied to estimate the risk of cervical cancer. For the spatial analysis, Google Maps were employed to find the geographical locations of the participants' addresses. The Quantum Geographic Information System was used to make a map of cervical cancer risk. Two univariate smooths: x equal to the residency duration was used in the temporal analysis of residency duration, and x equal to the calendar year that participants moved to upper Northern Thailand or birth year for participants already living there, were used in the temporal analysis of the earliest year. The spatial-temporal analysis was conducted in the same way as the spatial analysis except that the data were split into overlapping calendar years. Results: In the spatial analysis, the risk of cervical cancer was shown to be highest in the Eastern sector of upper Northern Thailand (p-value <0.001). In the temporal analysis of residency duration, the risk was shown to be steadily increasing (p-value =0.008), and in the temporal analysis of the earliest year, the risk was observed to be steadily decreasing (p-value=0.016). In the spatial-temporal analysis, the risk was stably higher in Chiang Rai and Nan provinces compared to Chiang Mai province. According to the display movement over time, the odds of developing cervical cancer declined in all provinces. Conclusions: The risk of cervical cancer has decreased over time but, in some areas, there is a higher risk than in the major province of Chiang Mai. Therefore, we should promote cervical cancer screening coverage in all areas, especially where access is difficult and/or to women of lower socioeconomic status.

스퍼터링법에 의한 WNx 증착, PECVD법에 의한 SiOx 증착, MERIE(Magnetic Enhanced Reactive Ion Etcing)에 의한 Side-wall 형성, LDD(Lightly Doped Drain)와 N+ 이온주입, 그리고 RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing)를 사용하여 활성화 공정을 수행하였다.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of lycopene on the migration, adhesion, tube formation capacity, and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) activity of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) cultivated with high glucose (HG) and as well as explore the mechanism behind the protective effects of lycopene on peripheral blood EPCs. MATERIALS/METHODS: Mononuclear cells were isolated from human peripheral blood by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation. EPCs were identified after induction of cellular differentiation. Third generation EPCs were incubated with HG (33 mmol/L) or 10, 30, and $50{\mu}g/mL$ of lycopene plus HG. MTT assay and flow cytometry were performed to assess proliferation and apoptosis of EPCs. EPC migration was assessed by MTT assay with a modified boyden chamber. Adhesion assay was performed by replating EPCs on fibronectin-coated dishes, after which adherent cells were counted. In vitro vasculogenesis activity was assayed by Madrigal network formation assay. Western blotting was performed to analyze protein expression of both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated p38 MAPK. RESULTS: The proliferation, migration, adhesion, and in vitro vasculogenesis capacity of EPCs treated with 10, 30, and $50{\mu}g/mL$ of lycopene plus HG were all significantly higher comapred to the HG group (P < 0.05). Rates of apoptosis were also significantly lower than that of the HG group. Moreover, lycopene blocked phosphorylation of p38 MAPK in EPCs (P < 0.05). To confirm the causal relationship between MAPK inhibition and the protective effects of lycopene against HG-induced cellular injury, we treated cells with SB203580, a phosphorylation inhibitor. The inhibitor significantly inhibited HG-induced EPC injury. CONCLUSIONS: Lycopene promotes proliferation, migration, adhesion, and in vitro vasculogenesis capacity as well as reduces apoptosis of EPCs. Further, the underlying molecular mechanism of the protective effects of lycopene against HG-induced EPC injury may involve the p38 MAPK signal transduction pathway. Specifically, lycopene was shown to inhibit HG-induced EPC injury by inhibiting p38 MAPKs.

  • Ship structures are thin-walled structures and lots of cutouts, for example, of inner bottom structure, girder, upper deck hatch, floor and dia-frame etc. In the case where a plate has cutout it experiences reduced buckling and ultimate strength and at the same time the in-plane stress under compressive load produced by hull girder bending will be redistributed. In the present paper, we investigated several kinds of perforated stiffened model from actual ship structure and series of elasto-plastic large deflection analyses were performed to investigate into the influence of perforation on the buckling and ultimate strength of the perforated stiffened plate varying the cutout ratio, web height, thickness and type of cross-section by commercial FEA program(ANSYS). Closed-form formulas for predicting the ultimate strength of the perforated stiffened plate are empirically derived by curve fitting based on the Finite Element Analysis results. These formulas are used to evaluate the ultimate strength, which showed good correlation with FEM results. These results will be useful for evaluating the ultimate strength of the perforated stiffened plate in the preliminary design.

  • The difference between three-dimensional (3D) and four-dimensional (4D) dose could be affected by factors such as tumor size and motion. To quantitatively analyze the effects of these factors, a phantom that can independently control each factor is required. The purpose of this study is to develop a deformable lung phantom with the above attributes and evaluate the characteristics. A phantom was designed to simulate diaphragm motion with amplitude in the range 1~7 cm and period up to ${\geq}2s$ of regular breathing. To simulate different tumors sizes, custom molds were created using a 3D printer and filled with liquid silicone. The accuracy of the phantom diaphragm motion was assessed by comparing measured motion with predicted motion. Because the phantom diaphragm motion is not identical to the tumor motion, the correlation between the diaphragm and tumor motions was calculated by a curve fitting method to emulate user-intended tumor motion. Tumors of different sizes were located at same position, and tumor set-up positions were evaluated. The accuracy of phantom diaphragm motion was better than 1 mm. The diaphragm-tumor correlation showed that the tumor motion in the superior-inferior direction increased with increasing diaphragm motion. The tumor motion was larger in the $10cm^3$ tumor than in the $90cm^3$ tumor. The range of difference between the tumor set-up positions was 0 to 0.45 cm. This phantom showed independently adjusting factors such as tumor size and motion to facilitate quantitative analysis of the dosimetric impact of respiratory motion according to these factors.

  • We studied on pseudo-range correction(PRC) modeling in order to improve differential GNSS(DGNSS) accuracy. The PRC is the range correction information that provides improved location accuracy using DGNSS technique. The digital correction signal is typically broadcast over ground-based transmitters. Sometimes the degradation of the positioning accuracy caused by the loss of PRC signals, radio interference, etc. To prevent the degradation, in this paper, we have designed a PRC model through polynomial curve fitting and evaluated this model. We compared two quantities, estimations of PRC using model parameters and observations from the reference station. In the case of GPS, the average is 0.1m and RMSE is 1.3m. Most of GPS satellites have a bias error of less than ${\pm}1.0m$ and a RMSE within 3.0m. In the case of GLONASS, the average and the RMSE are 0.2m and 2.6m, respectively. Most of satellites have less than ${\pm}2.0m$ for a bias error and less than 3.0m for RMSE. These results show that the estimated value calculated by the model can be used effectively to maintain the accuracy of the user's location. However;it is needed for further work relating to the big difference between the two values at low elevation.
