Purpose: To develop an advanced non-linear curve fitting (NLCF) algorithm for dynamic susceptibility contrast study of brain. Materials and Methods: The first pass effects give rise to spuriously high estimates of $K^{trans}$ in voxels with large vascular components. An explicit threshold value has been used to reject voxels. Results: By using this non-linear curve fitting algorithm, the blood perfusion and the volume estimation were accurately evaluated in T2*-weighted dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE)-MR images. From the recalculated each parameters, perfusion weighted image were outlined by using modified non-linear curve fitting algorithm. This results were improved estimation of T2*-weighted dynamic series. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated an improvement of an estimation of kinetic parameters from dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) T2*-weighted magnetic resonance imaging data, using contrast agents. The advanced kinetic models include the relation of volume transfer constant $K^{trans}\;(min^{-1})$ and the volume of extravascular extracellular space (EES) per unit volume of tissue $\nu_e$.

This research examines the stock market index determinants and the prediction using the FFT curve fitting of the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JKSE) Composite Index during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper has used daily data of Jakarta Stock Exchange (JKSE) Composite Index, interest rate, and exchange rate from 15 October 2019 to 15 September 2020, and a total of 224 observations, retrieved from Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Indonesia Statistics Central Bureau and Observation & Research of Taxation. The study covers descriptive statistics, multicollinearity test, hypothesis tests, determination test, and prediction using FFT curve fitting. The results unveil four fresh and robust evidence. Partially, the interest rate has affected positively and significantly the stock market index. Partially, the exchange rate has affected negatively and significantly the stock market index. The F-test result, interest rate, and exchange rate have significantly affected the stock market index (JKSE) simultaneously. Furthermore, the FFT curve fitting has predicted that the stock market fluctuates and increases over time. The results have shown a strong influence of the independent variables and the dependent variable. The value of Adjusted R-Square is 0.719, which means that the independent variables have simultaneously impacted the dependent variable for 71.9%; other factors have influenced the remaining 28.1%.

The purpose of this study is to develop the curve fitted equations for practicality and actual calculation during seismic performance evaluation of buried pipelines. Curve fitting for strain curve according to the wavelength of the seismic wave was produced using the non-linear least square method and the equations with the best results was suggested. In addition, a degree and coefficient of polynomial fitting equation needed to use curve fitted equation were identified. Interpreting process during the test of resistance of earthquake of buried pipelines with various end boundary conditions were provided through example questions. The results of this study were used to conduct a dynamic response analysis and a seismic performance evaluation of concrete, steel, and FRP pipes with various end boundary conditions.
Numbers fitting-curve equations have been proposed to predict soil-water retention curve (SWRC) whose parameters have no definitude physical meaning. And these methods with precondition of measuring SWRC data is time-consuming. A simplified directly method to estimate SWRC without parameters obtained by fitting-curve is proposed. Firstly, the total SWRC can be discretized into linear segments respectively. Every segment can be represented by linear formulation and every turning point can be determined by the pore-size distribution (PSD) of Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP) tests. The pore diameters governing the air-entry condition (AEC) and residual condition (RC) can be determined by the PSDs of MIP test. The PSD changes significantly during drying in SWR test, so the determination of AEC and RC should use the PSD under corresponding suction conditions. Every parameter in proposed equations can be determined directly by PSD without curve-fitting procedure and has definitude physical meaning. The proposed equations give a good estimation of both unimodal and bimodal SWRCs.

This thesis describes the curve fitting algorithm that the Portable Wear Metal Analyzer used for calculating concentrations in ppm and compares this with some alternative algorithms. Each algorithm considered fits a curve to the three standards used, which were $20\%,\;50\%,\;and\;100\%$ of the full scale for all nine wear metals. APL was used for all programs.
Plasma-polymerized acrylic acid films were deposited on Si wafer and KBr pellet by remote plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Effects of plasma power, reaction pressure, indirect plasma method on the growth rate, chemical structure, and chemical bonding state of the films were investigated. Chemical structure and chemical state of the films were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis and curve fitting technique. Growth rate of the film increased to a saturation value with plasma power of 100 W, but showed the maximum with reaction pressure at 300 mtorr. Whenever W/FM factor (applied energy per gas molecule) increased by increasing plasma power or lowering pressure, the fragmentation of acrylic acid molecules was promoted. From the XPS curve fitting analyses, we found that the intensity of carboxyl COO bonding peak decreased with W/FM factor, and the tendency of intensity change of carboxylic COO peak was contrary to those of ether C-O and carbonyl C=O peaks.

The phase distribution in a multi-phase material strongly affects its material properties. Therefore, a proper method to describe the phase distribution of a material is needed. In this research, probability distribution functions, two-point correlation and lineal-path functions, are used to represent the probabilistic phase distributions of a material. The probability distribution function is calculated using a numerical method and is described as an analytical form via exponential curve fitting with three parameters. Application of analytical form of probability distribution function is investigated using two-phase polycrystalline solids and soil samples. It is confirmed that the probability distribution functions can be represented as an exponential form using curve fitting which helps identifying the applicability of a representative volume element(RVE).

The technique which connects Generalized Regression Neural Networks Model(GRNNM) with Genetic Algorithm (CA) is used to derive rating curve in the river basin. GRNNM architecture consists of 4 layers ; input, hidden, summation and output layer. GA method is applied to estimate the optimal smoothing factor when GRNNM is trained. The derivation of rating curve using GRNNM is considered different kinds of hydraulic characteristics such as water stage, area and mean velocity and is applied two stage stations; Sunsan and Jungam. Furthermore, it is compared with conventional curve-fitting method. Through the training and validation performance, the results show that GRNNM is much superior as compared to the conventional curve-fitting method.
The study investigated the effects of base curve radius art the fit of thin, mid-water contact lenses. It was found that central corneal curvature(as measured with the keratometer) was not predictive of the best fitting base curve. Proper lens fit may be the single most important factor that ultimately determines the success of contact lens wear. Comfort, vision, and physiological response are all dependent on the fit of the lens. The percent of optimal fits was highest with the 8.4 mm base curve lens for all three ranges of keratometry values. When fit with the 8.4 mm lens. For most eyes, fitting a flatter lens led to greater decentration, decreased comfort, and no increase in lens movement. The 8.4 mm lens was found to provide on "optimal" fit in over 60% of eyes tested and a fit of "good" or "better" in nearly 90% of eyes tested. Comparisons of different manufactures' lens found that similiar lenses do not always fit in the same way due to subtle design and production differences. Therefore, different products may require different base curve radii to fit the same patient. This is even true when water content, center thickness, and diameter are approximately the same. A praditioner fitting a new patient in this lenses should begin with the 8.4 mm base curve radius.
Several damping materials have been employed to reduce the vibration of structures. While it is important to estimate the damping matrix when analyzing damped composite structures using the finite element method (FEM), at present, there is no FEM program that can correctly estimate the damping matrix. In this paper, a new global curve-fitting method is proposed for identifying the system parameters of non-proportional damping structures using a frequency response function. An experimental test for a cantilever beam attached damping material was carried out to verify the performance of the method proposed in this study.
