Tetragonia tetragonides is a medicinal plant native to ocean sand soil of southern provinces and has significant effects on the prevention and curing of gastroenteric disorders. Despite of its popularity, supply of the plant has never met the level of demand because of the absence of an adequate culturing method. The present study, thereby, was conducted for classifying the plants with geographically different characteristics, studying growth habits, developing a new culturing method and establishing a large scale propagation system of selected superior individual plants. The study was also aimed for revealing optimum conditions for seed treatment, fertilization, and efficient culturing system and thereby, for utilizing the plant as a new income source for rural communities. The seed was elongated with size of 2.6 mm (width) ${\times}$ 1.8 mm (length). No difference in seed size was observed depending on different inhabitate. Each flower produced about 4.5~4.8 seeds. Germination rate was high for seeds matured for 40 days after fertilization, but deceased to 50% for seeds matured only for 20 or 30 days. Seed dormancy lasted 6 months and seed storage at humid $5^{\circ}C$ facilitated germination. Mechanical obstruct of seed germination was due to seed coat and removal of seed coat enhanced the germination rate. Optimum temp. for seed storage was $5^{\circ}C$, and high germination rate was maintained for 350 days. However, for stratification condition or at room temperature, germination was significantly reduced as storage time increased Optimum treatment of plant growth regulators was soaking in $GA_3$ 250 mg/L for 1 hr. The priming treatment with 50 mM $Ca(NO_3)_2$ at $20^{\circ}C$ for two days improved the seed germination with 10% compared to non-treated control. The treatment of 20% NaOCl for 3 hr. improved the seed germination rate up to 10% and 1 day ahead.

In order to obtain the maximum flame retardancy with the minimal deterioration of physical properties of PU flame-retardant coatings, chlorine and phosphorous functional groups were introduced into the pre-polymer of modified polyesters. In the first step, the tetramethylene bis(orthophosphate) (TBOP) and neohexanediol dichloroacetate (DCA-adduct) intermediates were synthesized. In the second step, 1,4-butanediol and adipic acid monomers were polymerized with the two kind of intermediates to obtain copolymer. The modified polyesters containing chlorine and phosphorous (ATBA-10C, -20C, and -30C) were synthesized by adjusting the contents of chlorine compound (dichloroacetic acid, 10, 20, 30 wt%) with fixed the content of phosphorous compound (2 wt%). The PU flame-retardant coatings (TTBAH -10C, -20C, and -30C) were prepared using the synthesized ATBAs and HDI-trimer as curing agent at room temperature. The physical properties of PU flame-retardant coatings with chlorine and phosphorous were inferior to those with phosphorous only and the properties were getting worse with increasing chlorine content. Flame retardancy was tested with three methods. With the vertical method, Complete combustion time of ATBAHs were $259^{\sim}347$ seconds, which means that the prepared coatings are good flame-retardant. With the $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner method, char lengths of the three prepared coatings were less than 2.9 cm, which indicates that the prepared coatings are 1st grade flame retardancy. With the limiting oxygen index (LOI) method, the LOI values of the three prepared coatings were in the range of $30^{\sim}35%$, which proves good flame retardancy of the prepared coatings. From the results of flame retardancy tests of the specimens that contain the same amounts of flame retarding compounds, it was found that the coatings containing both phosphorous and chlorine show higher flame retardancy than the coatings containing phosphorous alone. This indicates that some synergy effect of flame retardancy exists between phosphorous and chlorine.
This study reports the properties of high early strength & durability of concrete using PC admixture. To apply these data to construction site, we did the lab tests. The target of this study is to accomplish early strength of concrete (5.0 Mpa/18 hr), and we did the durability tests such as length change test, chloride ion penetration test, fleeting and thawing test, adiabatic test, etc. And we tested the porperties of concrete by the different factors, such as the type of admixtures, curing temperature, the amount of binder, etc. Through the test of concrete using the different type of admixture, PC type was more excellent than PNS type admixture. As a result, we made a concrete of high early strength concrete, and excellent durable concrete. According to these tests, we concluded that we can apply this type of PC admixture to the civil & construction site, and we can reduce the term of works and finally we will accomplish the economical construction.
The static and fatigue characteristics of polyurethane foam cored sandwich structures are investigated. Three types of the specimens with the glass fabric faces and the polyurethane foam core are used; non-stitched. stitched, and stiffened sandwich specimen. Especially additional structural reinforcements with the twisted polyester and glass fiber for thickness direction are made to stitched sandwich structure panel to minimize the delamination of structure which is stitched the upper and lower faces through the core and the resin is impregnated Into stitched fiber with the characteristics of low viscosity of resin at resin flow temperature and cured together with during the curing process. Bending strength of stitched specimen which is 50 mm $50{\times}50{\;}mm$ pitched is improved by 50 % as com-pared with non-stitched specimen and stiffened specimen is improved 10 times more than non-stitched structure. After fatigue testing of $10^6$cycles by 20% of ultimate load under monotonic load, the bending fatigue strength of non-stitched specimen is decreased by 27% of monotonic bending strength, 39% for stitched structure and 20% for stiffened specimen. To verify the aging effect of polyurethane form core, Ultrasonic C-scanning equipment is used to detect the damage of skin laminate alone after fatigue test. From results of UT C-scan images, there is no defect that can be damaged occurred during fatigue test. It is concluded that the decrease of bending strength for foam cored sandwich specimen is caused by the decrease of stiffness due to the aging of polyurethane foam core during fatigue cycles.
Ring-opening metathesis polymerization of p-dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) can be performed using the tungsten type catalyst. This reaction usually progresses in nitrogen condition, because the catalysts are extremely sensitive in air condition. To solve this problem, DCPD resin with tungsten (W) was cured using hot press after stirring of DCPD A and B liquid in air condition. Mechanical properties of DCPD were improved by reducing microvoid occurrence successfully by using hot press method. It might be because hot press could provide sufficient press on DCPD specimen. Addition of catalyst was not effective for the curing of resin in a short time. During polymerization, pressure and temperature had a great influence on the mechanical properties of DCPD.

In order to control the formaldehyde release from D.P. finished fabric, cotton fabric was padded in DMDHEU resin bath containing either $Zn(NO_3)_2$ or $MgCl_2$ catalyst and a form-aldehyde scavenger like Glycerol, Sorbitol, Formamide, Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, n= 2000) or diols, then dried and cured. The results are as follows : 1. When Lewis acid catalyst like $Zn(NO_3)_2$ or $MgCl_2$ was added in pad bath, the fabric finished with $Zn(NO_3)_2$ catalyst released the lower formaldehyde than with $MgCl_2$. 2. When the effect of pad bath pH was examined with varying the kinds of catalyst and the scavenger, it was found that the pad bath pH influenced on the amount of formaldehyde release and the optimum pad bath pH is at 4.3. Especially, in case of finishing at pad bath pH 4.3 with adding Formamide, the amount of formaldehyde release was decreased by about $45\~$35\%$ with $Zn(NO_3)_2$, while by about $20\~$45\%$ with $MgCl_2$ catalyst. In case of varying the concentration of a scavenger (Formamide), $1\%$ concentration of a scavenger was found to be the optimum level ana the higher the curing temperature up to $180^{\circ}C$, the lesser the amount of formaldehyde release were observed. 3. When the diol was used as scavenger, the amount of formaldehyde release was decreased by about $40\~$50\%$, but the longer the intramolecular length between OH groups, the lessor the amount of decrease of formaldehyde release were observed. 4. When the mixture of scavengers (Formamide and Glycerol) was added in the pad bath, .synergistic effect on formaldehyde release between the two scavengers wasn't observed. 5. The tensile strength of the resin finished fabric was reduced with increasing the pad lath pH and was influenced by the kind of scavengers, and the tensile strength was severely reduced when scavengers, especially Formamide, was added. The wrinkle recovery property is generally improved by resin finish on cotton fabric. When Formamide was added, the wrinkle recovery property is slightly decreased compared with that of the fabrics resin finished without a scavenger, and when polyol was added, the wrinkle recovery property showed almost no change.
The purpose of this study was to predict the long-term performance using the interlaminar shear strength of carbon fiber/epoxy composites exposed to environmental factors. Interlaminar shear specimens, manufactured by the filament winding method, were exposed to the conditions of drying at $50^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, and $100^{\circ}C$ and of immersion at $25^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, and $70^{\circ}C$ for up to 3000 hours, respectively. According to the results, the interlaminar shear strength did not vary significantly with the exposure time for the drying at $50^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, but it increased somewhat for the drying at $100^{\circ}C$ due to the post curing as the exposure time increased. The interlaminar shear strength of the specimens exposed to the immersion at $25^{\circ}C$ did not change significantly at the beginning of exposure, but it decreased with the exposure time and the degree of decrease increased as the environmental temperature increased. The linear regression equations for the environmental temperatures were obtained from the interlaminar shear strength of the specimens exposed to the immersion for up to 3000 hours. Using these linear regression equations, the interlaminar shear strength was estimated to be within 5.5% of the measured value at $25^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$, and 2.3% of the measured value at $70^{\circ}C$. Therefore, the proposed performance prediction procedures can predict well the long-term interlaminar shear strength of carbon fiber/epoxy composites exposed to environmental factors.
PPG and BPA-type polyurethane prepolymers(NCO terminated) were obtained from bisphenol A and four types of PPG, having different molecular weight and numbers of functional groups. PPG and BPA-type polyurethane dimethacrylates were synthesized by reacting PPG and BPA-type polurethane prepolymer with 2-HEMA respectively. PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylates were formulated with initiator(CHP), inhibitor(hydroquinone) and reactive diluent(TEGDMA). The effect of formulation on the torque changes was studied. Four kinds of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylates, having different molecular weight and numbers of functional group, were formulated with the same amount of CHP, TEGDMA and hydroquinone. The effects of the molecular weight of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylate and functional group numbers of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylates on the torque were investigated. These results showed that the torque of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylates, having same numbers of functional group, increased with decreasing molecular weight of dimethacrylates and torque of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylate, having similar molecular weight, was increased with increasing the number of fuctional group. The glass-transition temperature(Tg) of gels obtained by thermosetting cure for the four kinds of PPG-type polyurethane dimethacrylates were measured by DSC and molecular weights between cross-links(Mc) were calculated from Tg changes.

Each of the three cationized compounds synthesized previously, poly(OMA-co-DAMA)[PODC], poly(DMA-co-DAMA)[PDDC] and poly(EMA-co-DAMA)[PEDC] was blended with waxes, emulsifiers and cationized fatty carbamide(ODTCC) synthesized in this study for the preparation of some durable softening water-repellenting agents, PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW. The results of washability, tearing strength, crease recovery and contact angle of the cotton fabrics treated with PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW with and without textile finishing resin, showed remarkable improvement of the physical properties. Rating of water repellency of cotton fabric treated with PODCW was 80, but those treated with PDDCW and PEDCW were not high enough to use in industry. Proper curing temperature of the synthesized water-repelleting agents was $140^{\circ}C$; proper using concentration was 3wt%; sodium acetate was the best catalyst for water-repellenting agents among the used, and proper concentration was 0.6wt%. From the results of reaction mechanism of cellulosic fiber with water-repellenting agent and washability of the fibers treated with water-repellenting agents the prepared water-repellenting agent proved to be durable. Surface structures of cotton fabrics treated with water-repellenting agent were investigated by SEM.

In this study, cause of longitudinal crack which is found on duct slab of road tunnel is studied. In-depth investigation, such as visual inspection, non-destructive testing and geometrical surveying of duct slab, is carried out. In order to perform cause analysis, the investigated results are compared to the results of numerical analysis. Many factors, which cause longitudinal crack, are classified as constrained condition of the duct slab, location of the rebar, temperature, shrinkage and so on. According to the classified causes of longitudinal crack, numerical analysis is performed considering construction stage of the tunnel lining. Especially, in order to predict shrinkage stain due to discrepancy of curing date, ACI-209 model, KCI structural design code and other researcher's shrinkage test results are compared. The results show that shrinkage strain is one of the main factors causing longitudinal crack. Other investigated tunnels are classified along with the construction method of duct slab and patterns of cracks. As a result, improving ways to construct duct slab are suggested.
