Surface and Dielectric Properties of Oriental Lacquer Films Modified by UV-Curable Silicone Acrylate

  • In order to achieve an oriental lacquer (OL) film with a thick consistency, UV-curable silicone acrylate (SA) was added to OL by a dual curing process. The addition of 5 wt% UV-curable SA to the OL fomulation enabled the preparation via a single drying step of a $77{\mu}m-thick$ film exhibiting excellent surface properties. FTIR-ATR was used to investigate the effect of UV-curable SA on the behavior of film formation during curing, and the relaxation behavior of the produced films was investigated by dielectric spectroscopy. Dielectric properties were measured in the frequency range $10^{-2}-10^5\;Hz$ at various temperatures between -100 and $200^{\circ}C$. The results demonstrated that OL modified by UV-curable SA has a higher glass transition temperature and stronger secondary relaxation at a lower temperature than the conventional OL system. The OL film modified with UV-curable SA was presumed to be harder at the surface and tougher than conventional OL film.

  • The aim of this reviews is to introduce the information concerning design of the UV-curable jet ink composition in order to provide a good adhesive property on non-porous surface. In order to clarify the viscosity dependence of flying speed for the UV curable jet ink, rheological analysis and observation of the flying state of the ink were carried out. The relationship between ink formulas and adhesive property on non-porous surface was investigated. It was examined the adhesive property of radical polymerization type UV curable jet ink included hydrogen abstraction type photo-initiator, it was expected that the strong adhesive strength can be obtained between the ink and non-porous surface in this study. UV curable jet ink with a slight amount of water was prepared. Optimum ratio of the cationic polymerization type UV curable jet ink shows an adequate adhesive strength towards two kinds of non-porous surface such as glass, poly(vinyl chloride) when tests were conducted on the ink jet-printing test machine.

  • UV-Curable hybrid coatings were synthesized to improve the surface properties of plastic film. Organic-inorganic coating solutions were prepared by the sol-gel method using urethane-acrylate oligomer, acrylate monomer, photo initiator and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). Methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane(MPTMS) was used as a silane coupling agent to improve chemical interaction between inorganic phases and UV curable acrylate. In this study, the surface hardness and adhesive properties were improved with the use of inorganic component. The experimental results showed that UV-Curable hybrid films containing aliphatic urethane oligomer, hexanedioldiacrylate, trimethylolpropanetriacrylate, hydroxy dimethyl acetophenone exhibited good surface properties. Also, the optimum curing conditions were investigated.

광·열경화형 수지를 이용한 탄소섬유 프리프레그의 물리적 특성 (Mechanical Characteristics of CF Laminated Prepreg with UV-thermal Dual Curable Epoxy Resin)

  • An issue of major concern in the utilization of laminated composites based epoxy resin is associated with the occurrence of delaminations or interlaminar cracks, which may be related to manufacturing defects or are induced in service by low-velocity impacts. A strong interfacial filament/brittle epoxy resin bonding can, however, be combined with the high fracture toughness of weak interfacial bonding, when the filaments are arranged to have alternate sections of shear stress. To improve this drawback of the epoxy resin, UV-thermal dual curable resin were developed. This paper presents UV-thermal dual curable resin which were prepared using epoxy acrylate oligomer, photoinitiators, a thermal-curing agent and thermoset epoxy resin. The UV curing behaviors and characteristics of UV-thermal dual curable epoxy resin were investigated using Photo-DSC, DMA and FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. The mechanical properties of UV-thermal dual curable epoxy resin impregnated CF prepreg by UV curable resin content were measured with Tensile, Flextural, ILSS and Sharpy impact test. The obtained results showed that UV curable resin content improves the epoxy toughness.

유리제 문화재 복원용 광경화성 수지의 물성 연구 및 적용 (The Physical Properties of UV-curable Resin for the Restoration of Glass Cultural Properties and Its Application in Conservation Treatment)

  • 본 논문은 유리제 문화재 복원에 안정한 물성을 지닌 복원재료를 선정하기 위한 연구이다. 아크릴계 광경화성수지(FLGPCL04 Clear®)를 기준으로 우레탄계 광경화성수지(SECURE CP-7321®)를 10%씩 가감한 혼합 시편 11종을 제작하고 6종의 물성실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과 굴절률, 비중, 접착력, 황변도의 측정값에 대해서는 11종 혼합재료 모두에 대하여 유사하였으나 표면경도 및 압축강도 측정값에서는 우레탄계 광경화성 수지의 혼합 비율이 10~20% 범위일 때 가장 적합하였다. 즉, 유리제 유물을 복원한 이후의 상태 유지에 가장 효과적이다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 아크릴계와 우레탄계 광경화성 수지를 9:1로 혼합한 재료(AU9010)를 경주 황남대총 북분에서 출토된 유리잔 (황북519)의 보존 처리에 적용하였다.

UV-curable polyester-acrylate coating with antimony doped tin oxide nanoparticles

  • Antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) nanoparticles were added as nanofillers to UV-curable polyester-acrylate (PEA) resin for coating to improve thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. In this study, ATO nanoparticles were grafted by 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane respectively to improve dispersion and interfacial adhesion. The physical properties and surface scratch hardness of the UV-curable nanocomposite coating were improved considerably by introducing the modified ATO nanoparticles.

  • The ultraviolet(UV)-curable materials are widely used in inks and coatings. In this paper is designed to develop materials having flexibility and functionality with UV-curable acrylate monomer and alkyd resin. At first, phase diagram is prepared for miscibility of UV -curable acrylate monomer with alkyd resin. Also the gel fraction and dynamic viscosity are measured to curing speed of mixing system. In results, it has been demonstrated that miscibility and curing speed are greatly influenced by alkyd resin content.

  • UV-curable resin has the properties of quick-drying, thigh productivity at low temperature, energy savint, space saving, solventless, non-polluting and low-stinking, and thus, UV-curing system has been widely used in the fields of printing inks, adhesives, paints and coating agents. This study has been executed to micro-patterning used UV-curable resin, The micro-patterning properties of this photoresist were investigated under irradiation of UV light low pressure mercury lamp. When the exposed photoresist film was developed by pure water developer, the resolution of this photoresist was about 50$\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • Generally, the build-up printed circuit board manufactured by the sequential process with etching, plating, drilling etc. requires many types of equipments and lead time. Etching process is suitable for mass production, however, it is not adequate for manufacturing prototype in the developing stage. In this study, we introduce a screen printing technology to prototyping a build-up printed circuit board. As for the material, photo/thermal curable resin and conductive paste are used for the formation of dielectric and conductor. The build-up structure is made by subsequent processes such as the formation of liquid resin thin layer, the solidification by UV/IR light, and via filling with conductive paste. By use of photo curable resin, productivity is greatly enhanced compared with thermal curable resin. Finally, the basic concept and the possibility of build-up printed circuit board prototyping are proposed in comparison with to the conventional process.

플라스틱용 자외선경화형 도료의 물성연구 (Physical Properties of UV curable coating on plastic)

  • To investigate in influence of photosensitizer used with benzophenone(BP) in the curing rate and physical properties of UV curable hard coating on plastic, we prepared UV curable clear and pigmented coatings with DEA, DMA, NPM and TEA as photosensitizer, respectively. The curing rate calculated from the decrease of the absorbance of acrylic double bond measured by FT-IR spectroscopy increased s follows; DEA>DMA>NPM>TEA. this order could be explained by the reactivity of diethylamino group of DEA and the ease of formation of activated complex between BP and photosensitizer during the curing process. In UV curable pigmented coatings, the order of curing rate increased as follows; DEA>DMA>TEA>NPM. It was found that the curing rate of the pigmented coating can be increased by light scattering of TiO$_2$. The hardness of coating film cured by photosensitization of DEA and DMA is higher than other photosensitizers due to the crosslinking reaction of DEA and DMA radical bound to polymer backbone.
