들뢰즈의 '사건'개념에 의한 디지털 공간 표현에 관한 연구 (A Study about Expression of the Digital Space according to Deleuze's 'Event' Concept)

  • In the digital age, as it is ambiguous to distinguish between the original and a replica, the order of reproduction which is more realistic than the reality is becoming a new cultural order. Before the period when digital paradigm dominates, always the reality has been an object to be copied. But, today is an age of Simulacre where code of digital technology dominates. Such a phenomenon is shown in the construction space without exception Gilles Deleuze who was a representative philosopher of the post-structuralism depicted the concept of Simulacre as an instant 'event' passing by without change in an object or substance. As the result of analyzing what kinds of feature for the concept of event is expressed in the digital space, a diagram itself could be a design process, the digital space with correlation was able to be created through the change in the meaning according to the changing image and my body which was the leading part to form primary space. In such a meaning, this study pays attention to Deleuze's 'Event(Simulacre)' concept. At this transitional period when a new concept of digital space is about to take root, the modern philosophers' theories and the discussions about spatial relativity should be continually studied, along with the development of spacial theories for the modem construction.

제주지역 테마박물관의 공간구성과 관람동선체계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Space Composition and the Visitor Circulation of the Theme Museum in Jeju)

  • There are many ways to know the social and cultural level of each country. Among them, a theme museum are not only the best place to understand the history, the life style and the culture level. This thesis has the purpose to provide the basic material through analyzing the space composition and the visitor circulation of the theme museum and understanding the relativity of them so that the new theme museums can be designed in the right direction. So I chose the independence museum that opened with in recent 10 years, finally middle & small size's theme museum were selected. The results from the case study are as follow. Firstly, according to a result of analyzing the characteristics of space composition with the ratio of each part's area, space composition of each museum is mainly for the exhibition part, but rarely for the education part. Secondly, theme museums in Jeju have the limit of diversity of circulation method because they have not the free circulation method. Thirdly, the characteristics of space composition is divided into basic type, center-hall enter type, around the center-hall type and guidance type. Fourthly, by analyzing the characteristics of space composition and circulation method of traffic line, it's realized that selective circulation method was applied to basic type and center-hall enter type, and guidance circulation method was applied to around the center-hall type and guidance type.

  • Stages, in the theatrical spaces, were space, which incorporates aspects of cities. Hence, the stages have been constituted to materialize sequence of city, which has exact number, proportion and order of ideal city. In addition, it has accomplished change, which depends on type of performance with the social condition and culture of generation, city has. However, the original form of theatrical space were forgotten on account of the various changes of theatrical form with modem movement since the end of 19th century, and theatrical space, which does not relate with its space of city, was started to constitute. Particularly in contemporary society, the theatre can give vitality to the citizens, and also theatrical architecture as a commercial code has been a general form, though it takes important role, which improves cultural value with technical improvement of cities development of society. Thus, this study analyzed urbanity ,which theatres have incorporated historically, and deduced a correlativity from to be based on constitution of space in visual, perceptual, spatial constitution and functional role. Focused on published SPAC international competition, it was interpreted by contemporary focus, therefore, this experiment suggests constitution of theatrical spaces of information, takes urbanity, through to analyze visual, perceptual, spatial constitution and functional role in context of contemporary city.

The Crisis of British Imperialism in Southeast Asia: The (Mis)Representation of the Indigenous in Clifford and Conrad

  • In the late nineteenth century, British colonial activities became aggressive and annexationist in the tropics, including the Southeast Asian Archipelago, which reflected the historical circumstances of both increasing resistance from the indigenous and severe competition among European powers. Interestingly, the change in English colonial policy toward an annexationist or imperialist vision adopted the motto of a civilizing mission, which was founded on the anthropological assumption that the white English were civilized, while the non-white indigenous were savage. The assumption developed into colonial discourse through systematic gathering of anthropological knowledge about the peripheries of the Empire. The knowledge system was flawed, which stressed the differences of the peripheral populations from the English and served as an inverted discourse on the Imperial Self rather than the description of the Other. Furthermore, the natives were heterogeneous, which rendered indistinct the racial and cultural differences between the English and the natives. Still, the aboriginals called Malays, who were comprised of many ethnic subgroups, needed to be deemed savage or inferior by the English in order to justify the English civilizing work or imperial ambition. Put differently, the representation of the English as civilized necessitated the (mis)representation of the natives as savage. In this context, Clifford's works contribute to systematic misrepresentation of the Malays, on which colonial discourse is founded, though not without self-contradiction. On the other hand, Conrad's novels that are set in the Malay Archipelago resort to a strategic misrepresentation that reveals the relativity of the discourse. Exploring the dilemma of denationalization to various degrees, Conrad's Malay texts problematize the (mis)representation of the indigenous as inferior, which is the basis of English claim to superiority.

유적지 출토 백색 암석의 광물화학적 특성 (Chemical and Mineralogical Characteristics of White Stones Excavated from Archaeological Sites)

  • 유적지의 소성유구와 도기가마 주변에서 출토된 백색암석을 광물화학적으로 분석하여 이들 암석의 특성과 상호관계를 밝히고, 나아가 소성유구의 용도를 추정하고자 하였다. 시료는 백색 암석이 출토된 3곳의 유적지(충남 아산시 산양리와 용두리, 청양군 광대리)에서 총 9점을 대상으로 하였다. 박편 분석결과, 8개의 암석은 교대 및 열수작용 등을 받아 광물상이 변질되거나 재결정화 된 석회암이었고, 결정구조 분석에서도 석회석의 주요구성 광물인 방해석이 동정되었다. 반면, 나머지 1개의 암석은 석영과 미사장석, 백운모 등으로 구성된 백색 이질암이었다. 성분분석 결과에서는 백색 이질암을 제외하고 는 나머지 암석들의 주성분이 CaO였다. 또한 주성분과 미량원소 함량을 서로 비교한 결과 유적지들간에 상관성이 적었다. 결론적으로 유적지별로 서로 다른 석회석 광산에서 원석을 채취하여 사용한 것으로 판단되며, 세 가마의 용도는 석회석을 가열하여 생석회를 만들어내는 가마였을 가능성이 높다.

  • 산사태가 일어날 지점을 예측한다든지 사태물질로 인한 피해 예상지역을 알아내는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 이는 산사태를 발생시키는 요인들이 여러가지가 있고 개개의 요인들이 산사태를 발생시키는데 기여하는 중요도도 서로 다르기 때문이다. 그러나 많은 산사태자료에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 발생 메커니즘 규명과 통계적 해석기법을 통해 산사태 발생가능성의 예측과 위험지역의 분류가 가능해졌다. 석조문화재가 산사면 또는 그 직하부에 인접해 있는 경우는 산사태가 발생되면 재해에 무방비로 노출되어 있다. 이 연구에서는 여름철의 집중호우 등에 의해 석조문화재 및 그 주변지역에 산사태가 발생할 가능성을 사전에 예측함으로써 그로 인한 석조문화재의 피해가능성을 분석하고자 하였다. 이러한 목적을 위해 2002년 8월 산사태재해로 인해 피해가 발생된 바 있으며 중요 석조문화재가 위치해 있는 실상사 백장암지역을 연구대상지역으로 선정하여 산사태 예측도를 작성하였다. 그리고 산사태재해 가능성을 발생확률로 표현하여 등급별로 구분함으로써 석조문화재 및 그 주변지역이 산사태에 취약한지의 여부를 평가하였다. 또한, 이러한 조사 및 해석기법을 앞으로 석조문화재 주변의 산사태재해 예측 및 평가를 위해 실용적으로 활용할 수 있는 토대를 마련하였다.

응구기 와 시옹오의 문화이론과 번역의 의미 (Ngugi wa Thiong'o's Cultural Theory and Its Significance in Translation)

  • 응구기는 최근 기쿠유어로 쓴 자신의 작품을 50여개 이상의 아프리카 지역어로 번역하는 작업에 관여하고 있다. 이는 로컬의 다양한 언어와 문화의 가치를 수호하기 위해 서구의 강한 언어와 문화에 맞서는 구체적인 행동이다. 한편 응구기는 자신의 작품을 영어로도 직접 번역하였는데, 이는 아프리카 문화의 폐쇄성을 막고 외부의 지평으로 열어두는 수평적 운동을 위한 것이다. 요컨대 주변부 언어 간의 대화도 중요하지만, 지배언어와 주변부 언어 간의 대화 역시 중요하다는 것을 강조하고 있는 것이다. 이때 번역이 이러한 역할을 수행하는 가교가 된다고 본다. 한편 사이먼 기칸디와 같은 학자는 응구기의 영어소설은 응구기 자신이 보존하려는 기쿠유어가 아니라 오히려 번역언어인 영어를 더욱 강화시켜 주는 것은 아닌지 의심한다. 강한 언어인 영어로의 번역본이 상대적으로 소수언어인 기쿠유 원본의 존재와 권위를 훼손하는 딜레마에 빠지게 된다는 것이다. 그러나 포스트식민 번역을 다루는 여러 학자들은 '두터운' 번역이 원본의 권위를 훼손하기 보다는 일종의 '새로운' 텍스트로서 문화적 대화와 소통의 메커니즘 속에서 작동한다고 주장한다. 또 응구기는 영어 번역본을 통해 아프리카 외부와 소통하고 아프리카 다양한 지역어로의 번역을 통해 내부와 소통하는 이중적인 전략을 구사한다. 응구기는 번역을 다양한 보편들의 대화와 연대, 나아가 보편적 보편을 탐색하는 가능성의 매체로 본다.

감성 가치 평가를 위한 시각적, 청각적 매체의 효용 (The effects of visual and auditory information as A tool of emotional value assessment)

  • The goal of this research is a visual and auditory tool development enabling designers to have the same emotional value with users in the process of user centered design. Through the research, we intend to show the aid measure for making cognitive gaps narrow between users and designer in the process of transforming and understanding the emotional needs as a verbal image. because In the business practice of design, most of tools and techniques for assessment and analysis of emotional needs are those used usually in the marketing fields. So the information generated and transformed from users to designers have a form of physical words. When the designer's understanding of the emotional needs is considered as a product mediated communication process, the morphologic and cognitive information gaps become obvious. This difference could be a false basis in designing with emotional user needs. So the alternative needs assessment sub-tools of visual and auditory information form was embodied mainly for designer's cognitive gaps and inter-cultural emotional needs assessment. As the method of embodiment, Firstly, adjectives related to emotion were classified in their cognitive dimension. Secondly, visual and auditory data were extracted, and then the relativity verified. Finally, the practicality and effectiveness were tested through the database generation. In view of the results so far achieved, 1. We could find being of the big information cognitive gaps in the verbal assessment of emotional needs between designers and users. 2. With the visual and auditory assessment tool, we could make the big cognitive gaps narrower than we expected. 3. Also, we could find the chance that the fidelity, recognition, and friendliness of design for emotional user needs would become better.

The most important constituent, which museum architecture has, are visitors, exhibition and communication between visitors. Exhibition space composition is the one of important things in museum architecture, and it's essential to show an intent of exhibition to visitors. This thesis has the purpose to provide the basic material through analyzing exhibition space composition and exhibition method of the theme museum and understanding the relativity of them so that the new theme museums can be designed in the Tight direction. So I chose the independence museum that opened within recent 10 years, finally middle & small size's theme museum were selected. The results from the case study are as follow. Firstly, the exhibition space unit of basic type and center-hall enter type had a one-way for gateway and used the exhibition of three or four faces. The exhibition space unit of around tile center-hall type and guidance type had the separated gateway and used the exhibition of one or two faces. Secondly, the exhibition method of selected museums was divided into the wall face type and the island type. The exhibition method of two faces mainly used in guidance type caused complicated visitor circulation. In that case, it seemed to be good that two walls were used alternately. Thirdly, there were visual type, audio-visual type, handling type and experiential type in the method of exhibition. The former two types were used mostly, and the latter two types were rarely used. Fourthly, the wall face type was inefficient for exhibition because given walls were supposed to be used. Therefore, it was more effective to use the wall face type and the island type together.

줄리언 반즈의 정체성, 민족성 그리고 역사의 재건축 -히스토리오그래픽 메타픽션으로서의 『잉글랜드, 잉글랜드』 (Julian Barnes' Reconstruction of Identity, Nationality and History: England, England as a Historiographic Metafiction)

  • Many recent British novels engage with the construction and deconstruction of history and identity; and in dealing with these historical, or historicised novels it seems to be an untouchable ground that truth is beyond grasp. Even when approached, its authenticity should be examined under the post-modern "incredulity toward metanarrative" discourses. Julian Barnes's 1998 novel England, England may be one of these. Yet, unlike others it achieves a complicated and controversial status as a new kind of historiographic metafiction by providing selfconscious reflections on the invention of innocence and the questionable notion of historical authenticity against the background of current postmodern historical, cultural, and literary explorations. The book, set in a near-future, namely post-post-modern England, starts with a story of a young girl, Martha Cochrane, whose first memory goes back to her early infantile years. Yet, the narrator comments that it is a lie, "her first artfully, innocently arranged lie," since memory, or history, is a product of identity, and vice versa. Her memory of the jigsaw puzzle is both a reminiscent and a significant component of who she is now, both a simulacrum and the original of herself. The correlation between her individual memory and identity parallels that of a region, England, in formation of its history and nationality. "England, England" is the replicated miniature of the former glorious Kingdom as well as a becoming der Ding an sich (the thing itself). In search of the English history and identity, the author satirizes the modern mind's perception of the unreliability and arbitrariness of memory and history, and further explores the alternative to the postmodern discourses by suggesting the probability of inventing innocence glimpsed in children's face "believing while disbelieving." In doing so, the author reconstructs not only the history of Englishness on the ground where nothing seems to be solid, but more importantly also the postmodern theme of relativity in relation to memory, history and identity.
