  • This study examines the factors influencing loyalty to cultural arts events using data from the Survey Report on National Culture and Arts Activity in 2022 and 2023. The dependent variable is a binary variable representing the intention to revisit in the future, which serves as a proxy for loyalty. Given that the dependent variable is binary, the logit model specification is employed to estimate the average marginal effects. The estimation results indicate that audience satisfaction exerts the strongest influence on loyalty in both years. It can be observed that participation in cultural arts events is the second most important variable in determining loyalty. This suggests that the government should support the expansion of the scope of these activities and the diversification of programs in order to facilitate greater participation in a wider range of cultural arts activities.

In addition, two variables of volunteering participation and continuous volunteering participation intention were considered as dependent variables. For this study, "Senior Job Replacement Project Participants" data collected by the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged were used and analyzed employing logistic regression analysis technique. This study found that three human capital variables(education, income, physical health) had positive effects on volunteering participation and continuous participation intention among older adults; of the two social capital variables, informal interaction had a positive effect on both volunteering participation and continuous participation intention, whereas formal interaction had a positive effect only on continuous participation intention; three cultural capital variables(religion, cultural organization participation, quality of life) had positive effects on both volunteering participation and continuous participation intention; and of three ecological variables, housing tenure and residence area had positive effects on volunteering participation and continuous participation intention, whereas existence of spouse had no significant effects on dependent variables.

  • This study examines the main elements, concepts, and directions of 'cultural accessibility' in the field of cultural arts education through the French case. Above all, 'cultural accessibility' is viewed from the perspective of the problems of 'social exclusion' and the corresponding 'participation'. We discuss strategies for applying 'cultural accessibility' through French policy discussions. France is implementing this consistent policy structure through the development of its local self-government system. We first look at the current status of French cultural policy and cultural accessibility, and the participation. Next, we will discuss separately into the cultural arts education of the central government and those of local governments. For application to Korea, we propose the application of education to apply 'culture of public values', the establishment of autonomy in cultural arts education, and the application of a dual strategy for public advocacy.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of participation in cultural activities on happiness. The empirical results show that participation in cultural activities has a positive impact on individual happiness, because cultural activities cause entertainment and social contacts with people. Furthermore, the levels of income and education are analyzed by dividing them into high and low groups. Noteworthy is that the low-income and less-educated groups show lower participation in cultural activities than those in the high-income and well-educated groups, But the utility magnitude gained through cultural activities is higher. This implies that opportunity costs arising from financial and time constraints are greater in the low-income and less-educated groups than in the high-income and well-educated groups. Finally, for the low-income group, the marginal utility is reduced when spending on cultural activities exceeds certain levels, which means there exist a budget constraint for the low-income group.
