  • VAXIMA is a computer software which gives us results in terms of parameters. We use VAXIMA to analyze quantitatively a conservative dynamical system with cubic and quintic nonlinear terms. The system is described by a nonlinear second-order autonomous ordinary differential equation. Using the Lindstedt-Poincare method, we obtain period-amplitude characteristics. In order to check the validity of the approximate solution, we integrate numerically the equation of motion.

  • In this paper, we propose a graphic system for high speed generation of bitmap font data from the outline font data such as PostScript, etc. In desk-top publishing system. A VLSI chip called KAFOG was designed for the high-speed calculation of a cubic Bezier curve, which was implemented in 1.5\ulcorner CMOS gate array using 17,000 gates. A cubic Bezier curve is approximated by a set of line segments in KAFOG at the throughput of 250K curves per second with the clock frequency of 40 MHz. A prototype graphic system was developed using two MC6800 microprocessors and the KAFOG chip. Two microprocessors cooperate in a master and slave mode, and handshaking is used for communication between two processors. KAFOG chip, being controlled by the slave processor, operates as a coprocessor for the calculation of the outline font. The throughput of the prototype graphic system is 40 64$\times$64 outline fonts per sencond.

  • The problem of reconstruction of complete building response from a limited number of response measurements is considered. The response at the intermediate degrees of freedom is reconstructed by using piecewise cubic Hermite polynomial interpolation in time domain. The piecewise cubic Hermite polynomial interpolation is preferred over the spline interpolation due to its trend preserving character. It has been shown that factorization of response data in variable separable form via singular value decomposition can be used to derive the complete set of normal modes of the structural system. The time domain principal components can be used to derive empirical transfer functions from which the natural frequencies of the structural system can be identified by peak-picking technique. A reduced-rank approximation for the system flexibility matrix can be readily constructed from the identified mass-orthonormal mode shapes and natural frequencies.

  • In case of the 3D Sketch System for spatial modeling, The use of 3D input devices in 3D environment is the best method to express designer's intention. However, the designer's 3D drawing skill is not accurate. 80, we use the multiple strokes used generally by 2D sketch. Multiple strokes make the designer recognize model's current drawing features and what he change We use the cubic-based drawing method to calculate many surfaces in real time. We arrange the relations of cubes for composing surfaces and multi strokes. We implement the sketch system taking cubic modeling and multiple strokes technique.

  • This paper deals with a method calculating various hull form parameters which are required in numerical analysis for ship performance such as motion, maneuverability, resistance and propulsion, etc. After the hull form is designed, before the model tests the ship's performances are evaluated by various analysis tools in which the hull form parameters are used with many kinds of forms aside from offset data. Here, The hull form parameters characterize the properties of hull form and contain positional, differential and integral information implicitly. Generally, the commercial CAD-system has not functions enough for supporting these form parameters and therefore each shipyard uses its own in-house analysis program as well as commercial analysis software. To overcome these limitations, modules for supporting these analysis programs have developed. The modules contain cubic composite spline cure using local curve fairing, intersect algorithm, Gaussian integral, and other geometric techniques needed in calculating hull form parameters. Using our analysis-supporting modules, a complex hull form can be remodeled exactly to the hull form designed by CAD-system and any hull form parameter required in various performance analyses can be calculated.

  • This study is concerned with the mechanism and structure of an optical microscope and an automatic multi-focus algorithm for automatically selecting sharp images from multiple foci of a cell. To obtain precise cell images quickly, a z-axis actuator with a resolution of $0.1{\mu}m$ was designed to control an optical microscope Moreover, a lighting control system was constructed to select the color and brightness of light that best suit the object being viewed. Cell images are captured by the instrument and the sharpness of each image is determined using Gaussian and Laplacian filters. Next, cubic spline interpolation and peak detection algorithms are applied to automatically find the most vivid points among multiple images of a single object. A cancer cell imaging experiment using propidium iodide staining confirmed that a sharp multipoint image can be obtained using this microscope. The proposed system is expected to save time and effort required to extract suitable cell images and increase the convenience of cell analysis.

  • The Core Operating Limit Supervisory System (COLSS) is digital computer based on-line monitoring system that is designed to assist the operator in monitoring of the Limiting Conditions for Operation. A current COLSS calculates axial power distribution based on in-core detector signals using 5th order Fourier series method. It was found that the 5th elder Fourier series method was not accurate for certain axial power shapes, especially saddle power shapes, resulting in thermal margin decrease. A cubic spline synthesis was applied to the COLSS in order to improve the axial power distribution monitoring for the various axial power shapes. The results showed that the cubic spline synthesis simulated more accurately the axial power shapes, up to 5% in RMS errors, compared to those of the Fourier series.

  • Retinoids have many important and diverse functions and particularly, have been widely used as anti-aging agent and for the treatment of acne and psoriasis in cosmetics. However, retinoids have low stability against the air, light, water, oxygen and heat, thus, to stabilize the retinoids in formulations is very critical procedure. In this study, cubic liquid crystalline phase of monoolein was applied to stabilize the retinylpalmitate (RP) and to enhance the transdermal permeation. Cubic liquid crystalline phase significantly enhanced the stability of RP. After 15 days, the content of RP in the cubic formulation was 94.7% while the content of RP in ethanol solution was below 0.5% at room temperature. Although BHT containing crystalline phase showed the slightly increased stability of RP, there were no significant differences in RP stability between with or without antioxidants (ascorbic acid, ${\alpha}$-tocopherol, BHT, BHA) at $40^{\circ}C$. The skin retention of RP in crystalline formulations was approximately $5.3{\sim}6.4$ times greater than that of o/w cream formulation. Incorporation of RP into cubic liquid crystalline phase of monoolein effectively stabilized the RP and worked as excellent topical vehicle for RP. Liquid crystalline phase is considered to be suitable formulation for RP for topical delivery system as a stabilizer and permeation enhancing agent.

  • This paper presents a novel miniaturized 3-D cubic antenna for use in wireless sensor network (WSN) application. The geometry of this antenna is designed as a cube including a meander dipole antenna. A truly omnidirectional pattern is produced by this antenna in both E-plane and H-plane, which allows for non-intermittent communication that is orientation independent. The operating frequency lies in the ISM band (centered in 2.45 GHz). The dimensions of this ultra-compact cubic antenna are 1.25*1.12*1cm3 which features a length dimension λ/11. The coefficient which presents the overall antenna structure is Ka=0.44. The cubic shape of the antenna is allowing for smart packaging, as sensor equipment may be easily integrated into the cube hallow interior. The major constraint of WSN is the energy consumption. The power consumption of radio communication unit is relatively high. So it is necessary to design an antenna which improves the energy efficiency. The parameters considered in this work are the resonant frequency, return loss, efficiency, bandwidth, radiation pattern, gain and the electromagnetic field of the proposed antenna. The specificity of this geometry is that its size is relatively small with an excellent gain and efficiency compared to previously structures (reported in the literature). All results of the simulations were performed by CST Microwave Studio simulation software and validated with HFSS. We used Advanced Design System (ADS) to validate the equivalent scheme of our conception. Input here the part of summary.

  • This paper presents an efficient data storage and reconstruction method in data acquisition and processing of monitoring system. The proposed method extracts minimum data using an interpolation from raw data which are acquired from a target system. The algorithm for data acquisition and reconstruction is based on Cubic Hermite interpolation. To verify the validity of the proposed scheme, we presents simulation results and it is applied to a monitoring system for grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system to prove the high-performance of the proposed method.
