We report solution-processed, high-performance single-crystal organic nanowire transistors fabricated from a novel indolocarbazole (IC) derivative. The direct printing process was utilized to generate single-crystal organic nanowire arrays enabling the simultaneous synthesis, alignment and patterning of nanowires using molecular ink solutions. Using this method, single-crystal organic nanowires can easily be synthesized by self-assembly and crystallization of organic molecules within the nanoscale channels of molds, and these nanowires can then be directly transferred to specific positions on substrates to generate nanowire arrays by a direct printing process. These new molecules are particularly suitable for p-channel organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) because of the high level of crystallinity usually found in IC derivatives. Selected area diffraction (SAED) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments on these solution-processed nanowires showed high crystallinity. Transistors fabricated with these nanowires gave a hole mobility as high as 1.0 cm2V-1s-1 with nanowire arrays with the direct printing process.
This paper reports substituent effects on the conformational changes in polyaniline (PAni) derivatives. PAni, poly-o-toluidine (POT), and poly-o-anisidine (POA) were formed by potentiodynamic electropolymerization in aqueous solution containing (+)-camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) as a dopant. UV-Vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry measurements revealed that the methyl group showed a greater steric hindrance than the methoxy group. Further, the doping level decreased with increasing steric hindrance. The sign pattern of the circular dichroism (CD) bands for POA was opposite to that for PAni. However, no CD bands were observed in POT. The steric hindrance caused helical inversion, but at a high level of steric hindrance, the helical conformation could not be adopted, because of the reduced doping level. The reduced crystallinity was greatly affected by the decreased doping level. The steric effect influenced the polymer conformation and the doping level, thus determining the optical activity, morphology, and crystallinity of the PAni derivatives.
SiGe thin films were deposited by remote plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RPE-CVD) at $400^{\circ}C$ using $SiH_4$ or $SiCl_4$ and $GeCl_4$ as the source of Si and Ge, respectively. The growth rate and the degree of crystallinity of the fabricated films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Raman analysis, respectively. The optical and electrical properties of SiGe films fabricated using $SiCl_4$ and $SiH_4$ source were comparatively studied. SiGe films deposited using $SiCl_4$ source showed a lower growth rate and higher crystallinity than those deposited using $SiH_4$ source. Ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy measurement showed that the optical band gap of SiGe is in the range of 0.88~1.22 eV.

The structural, electrical and optical properties of Ti thin films fabricated by dual magnetron sputtering were investigated under various film thicknesses. The fabricated Ti thin films exhibited uniform surfaces, crystallinity, various grain sizes, and with various film thicknesses. Also, the crystallinity and grain size of the Ti thin films increased with the increase of film thickness. The electrical properties of Ti thin films improved with the increase of film thickness. The results showed that the performance of TCO-less DSSC critically depended on the film thickness of the Ti working electrodes, due to the conductivity of Ti thin film. However, the maximum conversion efficiency of TCO-less DSSC was exhibited at the condition of 100 nm thickness due to the surface scattering of photons caused by the variation of grain size.
We have investigated the crystallinity, preferential ordering, and interfacial stability of 1,4,5,8,9,11-hexaazatriphenylene-hexanitrile (HATCN) thin film interconnected with organic/inorganic multilayer. At the region close to the organic-organic interface, HATCN formed low crystalline order with substantial amorphous phase. As film growth continued, HATCN stacked with high crystalline phase. After a sputtering deposition of the indium zinc oxide (IZO) layer on top of HATCN/organic layer, the volume fraction of preferentially ordered HATCN crystals increased without any structural deterioration. In addition, the HATCN surface was kept quite stable by preserving the sharp interface between HATCN and sputtering deposited IZO layers.
The effect of reaction condition, solvent addition and thermal treatment on the bulk density, crystallinity and chemical properties of the freeze-dried cefazohn sodium was inves tigated to prepare the cefazolin sodium powder for injection with good flowability. Crystalline cefazolin sodium powder with high untapped-bulk density (about 45%) and low compressibility (about 40%) was obtained by solvent addition to the very highly concentrated cefazohn sodium solution followed by subsequent thermal treatment before freeze-drying. The desirable solvent was low substituted alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol and anhydrous ethanol with the final concentration of about 9%. The pH adjustment and nitrogen gas purging during the reaction did not give significant effect on the chemical properties such as content, color, transmittance and pH of the reconstituted cefazolin sodium aqueous solution.
This study investigated the crystallization behavior in PbO-ZnO-B2O3-TiO2 system sealing glass, inorganic polymer heat-treated by conventional heat and microwave energy. After determining heat-treated temperature for crystallization and characteristic points by DTA analysis, samples were heat-treated in a classical electric furnace and a home-style microwave oven (LG Electronic Co., 2.45 GHz, 700 W). A microwave heat-treated sample had the growth of PbTiO3 crystal at 45$0^{\circ}C$, 2$0^{\circ}C$ lower than that of a conventionally heat-treated sample. Also, it had crystallinity about 20% higher than the conventionally heat-treated sample. At 49$0^{\circ}C$, the size of PbTiO3 crystal in the conventionally heat-treated sample was larger than that in the microwave heat-treated sample due to longer heat-treated time.
The objective of this work was to optimize processing parameters of hybrid thermoplastic composites in compression molding. The mechanical properties of the composites manufactured with various forming conditions were measured to characterize processing parameters. Polypropylene(PP) composites containing randomly oriented long carbon fiber and carbon black were used in this work. The composite materials contained 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% carbon fiber and 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% carbon black by weight. Compression molding was conducted at various mold temperatures. The temperature of the material in the mid-plain was monitored during the forming. Crystallinity was also measured by using XRD. The tensile modulus of the composites increase, with increasing the mold temperature. However, the impact strength of the composites decreases as mold temperature increases.
Shell shaped hollow carbon nanoparticles are synthesized in the oxygen-hydrogen diffusion flame with $C_{2}H_{2}$ as precursor when it is irradiated with $CO_{2}$ laser of certain power. Below this power of laser, we couldn't get any other but amorphous soot. This shell shaped hollow carbon nanoparticles shows outer wall of high degree of crystallinity with void space inside of itself. And size distribution of these nanoparticles is measured with TEM image analysis. Also the structural comparison between this carbon nanoparticle and soot is done by Raman and XRD measurement. These results show this carbon nanoparticles are of grapheme structure, which means it has good crystallinity when compared with soot.
An experimental study of hot filament chemical vapor deposition(HFCVD) has been carried out for the fabrication of diamond thin film. Of particular interest is the measurement of deposition uniformity on large substrates. Experimental apparatus including a vacuum chamber, heating elements, etc. has been designed and manufactured. Deposition profiles for different pretreatment powders and different flow rates have been measured in conjunction with the measurement of substrate temperature distribution on a large substrate surface. As the flow rate increases, deposition rate increases, however, the crystallinity becomes worse. Higher growth rate has been found on the region closer to the center location where substrate temperature is higher. The crystallinity has been improved as gas flow rate decreases. The growth rate and morphology of deposition were identified by SEM and the existence of diamond phase was proved by Raman spectroscopy.
