In this research, cubic zirconia is synthesized with a refined CaO from shells as a stabilizer through Skull melting method. The proper process time and concentration are defined by Hydration reaction to produce the refined CaO after two different treatments using 0.1 mol% of HCl respectively with Cockle shell. The highest purity of CaO is reached when the shell is immersed in 1 mol% HCl. In Hydration reaction step, the pure $Ca(OH)_2$ is produced at $45^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. The highest purity of CaO is measured when the $Ca(OH)_2$ is treated by heat at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours. The single crystals are grown through Skull melting method by adding the different contents of the refined CaO from 10 mol% to 30 mol% into $ZrO_2$. The frequency of High-frequency oscillator used for Skull melting method is 3.4 MHz. The descending speed of the single crystal is 3 mm/hour. The grown length of the single crystal is 4 cm. As a result of this study, 15 mol% of CaO has the best crystallinity.
Initial reactions of Ti and Si have been studied to examine the surface roughness of titanium silicide. Formation mechanism has been explored with in-situ measurement tools such as AES(Auger electron spectroscopy) and LEED (low energy electron diffraction). One or two monolayers of Ti films have been deposited in ultrahigh vacuum on atomically clean Si(111) substrates. Atomically clean Si substrates which are reconstructed $7{\times}7$ Si(111) have been obtained after in-situ heat cleaning in ultrahigh vacuum. Deposition of the films were monitored by a quartz cuystal oscillator and the Ti films were analyzed with in-situ AES and LEED. The in-situ measurements show that the initial reactions of Ti and Si occur at room temperature and form a disordered layer. At low temperatures($200^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$) intermixing of Ti and Si is detected by AES. Substrate $1{\times}1$ LEED patterns are displayed after $400^{\circ}C$ anneal. This indicates that the disordered layer has transformed to form an ordered surface. The reappearance of the $7{\times}7$ LEED pattern in observed with further high temperature anneals and indicates three dimensional titanium silicide island formation.

In this paper, we described the simulation results of the phase offset performance of a clock in holdover mode which was normally operated in GPS Disciplined Oscillator (GPSDO). In the TIE model, we included the time error term caused by environmental temperature variation because one of the most important parameters of clock phase error is the frequency offset and drift caused by the variation of temperature. For the simulation, we employed Maximum Time Interval Error (MTIE) for the performance evaluation when the frequency offset and drift are estimated by using an Unbiased Finite Impulse Response (UFIR) filter with ladder algorithm. We assumed that the noise in the GPS measurement is white Gaussian with zero mean and 1 ns standard deviation, and temperature linearly varies with a slope of $1{^{\circ}C}$ per hour. From the simulation results, the followings were observed. First, with the estimation error of temperature of less than 3 % and the temperature compensation period of less than 900 seconds, the requirement of CDMA2000 phase synchronization under 10 us could be achieved for more than 40,000 seconds holdover time if we employ an OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) clock. Second, in order to achieve the requirement of LTE-TDD under 1.5 us for more than 10,000 seconds holdover time, below 3 % estimation error and 500 seconds should be retained if a Rubidium clock is adopted.
A large number of works have been Performed to understand the electrochemical growth of Polypynole on conducting substrates in aqueous as well as in nonaqueous solutions. Recently most researches with Polypyrrole have tended to be directed toward technological applications, but many fundamental physical and chemical properties of Polypyrrole remain unknown. In Particular, microrheological Property of polypyrrole has been largely neglected until the advanced electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance technique was introduced recently. To study anion effects on microrheolosical Property of Polypyrrole, we investigated changes in viscoelasticity of Polypyrrole during electrochemical growth in neutral aqueous solutions by means of in siか electrochemical quartz crystal oscillator method. The results showed that the films of Polypyrrole synthesized in $KPF_6\;and\;KCIO_4$ were more viscoelastic than the ones in $KCI,\;KNO_3,\;KBr,\;KBF_4,\;K_2SO_4$, sodium tosylate (NaOTs), and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The growth rate of Polypyrrole in SDS was faster than that in the others utilized. Polypyrroles synthesized in buffered neutral solutions were more elastic than those in unbuffered neutral solutions.

-Part I- As market needs become more various, the production of smaller quantities of a wider variety of products becomes increasingly important. In addition, in order to meet demands for more efficient production, long-term unmanned factory operation is prevailing at a remarkable pace. Within this context, laser machines are gaining increasing popularity for use in applications such as cutting and welding metallic and ceramic materials. FANUC supplies four models of $CO_2$ laser oscillators with laser power ranging from 1.5㎾ to 6㎾ on an OEM basis to machine tool builders. However, FANUC has been requested to produce laser oscillators that allow more compact and lower-cost laser machines to be built. To meet such demands, FANUC has developed six models of Slab type YAG laser oscillators with output power ranging from 150W to 2㎾. These oscillators are designed mainly fur cutting and welding sheet metals. The oscillator has an exceptionally superior laser beam quality compared to conventional YAG laser oscillators, thus providing significantly improved machining capability. In addition, the laser beam of the oscillator can be efficiently transmitted through quartz optical fibers, enabling laser machines to be simplified and made more compact. This paper introduces the features of FANUC’s developed Slab type YAG laser oscillators and their applications. - Part II - All-solid-state lasers employing laser diodes (LD) as a source of pumping solid-state laser feature high efficiency, compactness, and high reliability. Thus, they are expected to provide a new generation of processing tools in various fields, especially in automobile and aircraft industries where great hopes are being placed on laser welding technology for steel plates and aluminum materials for which a significant growth in demand is expected. Also, in power plants, it is hoped that reliability and safety will be improved by using the laser welding technology. As in the above, the advent of high-power all-solid-state lasers may not only bring a great technological innovation to existing industry, but also create new industry. This is the background for this project, which has set its sights on the development of high-power, all-solid-state lasers with an average output of over 10㎾, an oscillation efficiency of over 20%, and a laser head volume of below 0.05㎥. FANUC Ltd. is responsible for the research and development of slab type lasers, and TOSHIBA Corp. far rod type lasers. By pumping slab type Nd: YAG crystal and by using quasi-continuous wave (QCW) type LD stacks, FANUC has already obtained an average output power of 1.7㎾, an optical conversion efficiency of 42%, and an electro-optical conversion efficiency of 16%. These conversion efficiencies are the best results the world has ever seen in the field of high-power all-solid-state lasers. TOSHIBA Corp. has also obtained an output power of 1.2㎾, an optical conversion efficiency of 30%, and an electro-optical conversion efficiency of 12%, by pumping the rod type Nd: YAG crystal by continuous wave (CW) type LD stacks. The laser power achieved by TOSHIBA Corp. is also a new world record in the field of rod type all-solid-state lasers. This report provides details of the above results and some information on future development plans.
Electrochemical Quartz Crystal microbalance is a tool that is capable of measuring nanogram-scale mass change on electrode surface. When applying alternating voltage to the quartz crystal with metal electrode formed on both sides, a resonant frequency by inverse piezoelectric effect depends on its thickness. The resonant frequency changes sensitively by mass change on its electrode surface; frequency increase with metal dissolution and decrease with metal deposition on the electrode surface. The relationship between resonant frequency and mass change is shown by Sauerbrey equation so that the mass change during metal dissolution can be measured in real time. Especially, it is effective in the case of reaction mechanism and rate studies accompanied by precipitation, volatilization, compound formation, etc. resulting in difficulties on ex-situ AA or ICP analysis. However, it should be carefully considered during EQCM experiments that temperature, viscosity, and hydraulic pressure of solution, and stress and surface roughness can affect on the resonant frequency. Application of EQCM was shown as a case study on leaching of platinum using aqueous chlorine for obtaining activation energy. A platinum electrode of quartz crystal oscillator with 1000 Å thickness exposed to solution was used as leaching sample. Electrogenerated chlorine as oxidant was purged and its concentration was controlled in hydrochloric acid solution. From the experimental results, platinum dissolution by chlorine is chemical reaction control with activation energy of 83.5 kJ/mol.
We have used a mid-IR (mid-infrared) continuous-wave (cw) optical parametric oscillator (OPO), developed previously and described in Ref. 12, to build a performance-evaluation setup for a mid-IR spectrometer. The used CW OPO had a wavelength tuning range of $ 2.5-3.6{\mu}m$ using a pump laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and a fan-out MgO-doped periodically poled lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN) nonlinear crystal in a concentric cavity design. The OPO was combined with a near-IR integrating sphere and a Fourier-transform IR optical spectrum analyzer to build a performance-evaluation setup for mid-IR spectrometers. We applied this performance-evaluation setup to evaluating a mid-IR spectrometer developed domestically, and demonstrated the capability of evaluating the performance, such as spectral resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, spectral stray light, and so on, based on this setup.
We developed SH-SAW sensors to detect protein molecules in liquid solutions applying a particular antibody thin film on the delay line of transverse SAW devices. The antibody investigated was human-immune-globulin G (HigG) to hold the antigens (anti-HigG) in the protein solution. We fabricated the sensor generating 100 MHz with the piezoelectric single crystal LiTaO₃. We measured the frequency change of the sensor by adding the anti-body concentration on SAM (self assembled monolayer) deposited on the Au layer. The sensor showed stable response to the mass loading effects of the anti-HigG molecules with the sensitivity up to 10.8 ng/ml/Hz at noise level 400 Hz below.
This study is to develop a time measure system for acceleration of gravity verification. The system can measure time interval between two points when an object passes through the points. The system has 1${\mu}$sec time resolution. The AT90S8515 microprocessor, product of ATMEL. can make 1${\mu}$sec time resolution possible connected with the 8 MHz fine crystal oscillator. The two external signals called 'start' and 'stop' have AT90S8515 that counted time intervals of the two signals. Sensors are composed of the IR beam emitting diode. TNL108 and the IR beam receiving photo diode, TNL601, produced by NEC company. In order to acquire the measurement of exactitude of the system, measure the pendulum period. Experimental result, the average period =3.0406sec with pendulum length of 2.314m. The acceleration of gravity g=$908821{\pm}6.416{\times}1^{-4}m/s^2$.
We have been investigating electropolymerization of pyrrole in aqueous electrolyte solutions in acidic as well as in neutral conditions by in situ electrochemical quartz crystal oscillator method, where resonant frequency and resonant resistance can be monitored simultaneously with current-voltage measurements during electropolymerization of pyrrole. The properties of thin PPy films prepared on electrode surfaces depended strongly on the experimental variables of electrode potentials applied, solution pH, kinds and quantity of supporting electrolytes, added chemicals, and the mode of electrochemical method employed. We are applying our experience gained on electropolymerization of pyrrole to immobilizing biomolecules onto electrode surfaces to develop a biosensor system. In this work, we wish to present the results on electrochemical monitoring on electropolymerization of pyrrole in the presence of DNA and albumin in different electrochemical conditions. Additionally we will summarize our investigations on the miniaturization of biomolecules/PPy composites by means of scanning tunneling microscopy.
