Influence of Crosslinked Cationic Starches and Silica Microgels on the Performance of Microparticle Retention System

  • Effectiveness of the microparticle retention systems in improving drainage, retention, formation has been recognized for many years. In this study the effectiveness of crosslinked cationic corn starches and silica-based microgels as components of Compozil system has been evaluated. It was shown that improvements in retention and strength could be achieved by employing crosslinked cationic corn starches especially at high conductivity. Silica-based microgels with better performance in retention and drainage than a commercial colloidal silica sol have been made through a reaction of sulfuric acid and sodium silicate solutions.

  • Crosslinked corn starches were prepared to increase their molecular weights and their performance as a component of Compozil system was evaluated and compared with that of potato starches. It was shown that greater improvements in retention and strength properties could be achieved when crosslinded cationic corn starches rather than conventional cationic potato starches were used especially at high conductivity because of their molecular rigidity.

주사기 바늘 기반의 미세유체 장치를 이용한 단분산성 PEGDA 입자의 제조 (Preparation of Monodisperse PEGDA Microparticles Using a Dispensing Needle Based Microfluidic Device)

  • 본 연구는 주사기 바늘 기반의 미세유체 장치에서 균일한 polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) 입자를 제조하는 새로운 방법을 소개한다. 미세유체 장치는 다양한 규격의 기성품들을 별도의 장비없이 조립하여 제작된다. 이 미세유체 장치에서 광개시제를 포함한 PEGDA 분산상과 오일의 연속상의 부피유속을 제어하여 단분산성 PEGDA 액적을 형성한다. PEGDA 액적은 장치의 말단에서 자외선 조사에 의해 입자로 중합된다. 입자의 크기는 부피유속과 미세유체 장치의 규격을 조절하여 손쉽게 제어되며 입자의 단분산도는 변동계수(coefficient of variation)값이 2.57%로 계산된다. PEGDA입자의 생물학적 응용을 증명하기 위해서 세포를 함입시키고 증식과 생존을 관찰한다.

  • 폴리카프로락톤디올(PCD) 및 폴리에틸렌글리콜(PEG), 디이소시아네이트 및 1,2,6-헥산트리올을 용액중합 방법으로 반응시켜 폴리우레탄(PU) 마이크로겔을 합성하였다. PCD/PEG의 몰비가 다른 마이크로겔의 임계 겔화농도의 성질과 생성에 영향을 주는 중요한 인자임을 알았다. 디이소시아네이트, PCD/PEG의 몰비 및 PEG의 분자량을 달리하여 제조한 PU 마이크로겔의 물리적 및 열적 성질을 실험하였다. PU 마이크로겔은 300nm 이하의 다분산성 구형의 작은 입자로 분포되어 있으며, 저점도 특성을 나타내었다.
