The cone penetration test(CPT) has been increasingly used for in situ site characterization. However, the use of CPT is often limited due to specific site conditions depending on the cone size, geometry, and capacity of the CPT system used. In South Korea, it has generally been considered that the CPT could be satisfactorily performed only in soft soils. Louisiana State University/ Louisiana Transportation Research Center has implemented a field-rugged continuous intrusion miniature cone penetration test (CIMCPT) system since the 1990s. The miniature cone penetrometer of the CIMCPT system has a cross-sectional cone area of $2cm^2$ allowing finer soil profiles compared to the standard $10cm^2$. The reduced cross-sectional area also enables a system capacity reduction leading to cost saving and ease in maintenance. In addition, the continuous intrusion mechanism allows fast and economic site investigations. Samsung C&T Corporation has recently implemented a similar CIMCPT system. In this study, case studies on the field application of Samsung CIMCPT system for the last 2 years are presented to illustrate its performance investigation and its usefulness and limitation. Results of the case studies show that the CIMCPT system can be applied to soils with cone tip resistance($q_c$) values up to about 30MPa and allows a reliable and useful way to characterize soft soils. The results also show that the rod buckling limits the investigation depth by the system and the large contact pressure of the CIMCPT truck prevents the use of the system at sites with soft surface soils. According to the results of the case studies, the Samsung CIMCPT system has been being upgraded with a miniature cone with a longer rod, a crawler-type transportation system, a pre-boring system, and so on.

This thesis deals with a method to deliver more realistic sound by cancelling the cross-talk which is inherent to the 5.1 channel speaker system. First, the cross-talk cancellation method that eliminates cross-talks on the path from left speaker to right ear and from right speaker to left ear is explained. Then the application and replaying method using the cross-talk cancellation explained here is introduced. The acoustical model for cross-talk cancellation is the free field model This model minimizes distortion of sound. Many experts also make studies on this model. I used the bark scale sound quality compensation based on psycho-acoustic. For the surround channels, band-limited sound quality compensation is performed in the frequency domain.

The PEFP (Proton Engineering Frontier Project) is constructing a 100MeV proton Linac (Linear Accelerator). The 20 MeV 20 mA proton beam has been serviced for an application in the fields of material, biological, information technology and medical sciences. For a stable and efficient acceleration of a proton beam, the control requirements must be optimized by studying various control methods. We propose that the integrated control system for the Linac machine components must be based on a distribution control method to improve a centralized control system. Based on EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) real-time software, the VME (Versa Module European package format) IOC (Input Output Controller) was developed under cross development environment with a RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) PowerPC system. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of distributed control system using the VME-based EPICS middleware for various components of the large proton accelerator.

One of the most important topics about the safety of electrical and electronic system is the reliability of the wiring system. The Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry(TFDR) is a state-of-the-art system for detecting and estimating of the fault on a wiring. In this paper, We've considered the load resistance measurement on a coaxial cable using TFDR in a way of expanded application. The TFDR system was built using commercial Pci extensions for Instrumentation(PXI) and LabVIEW. The proposed real time TFDR system consisted of the reference signal design, signal generation, signal acquisition, algorithm execution and results display part. To implement real time system, all of the parts were programmed by the LabVIEW which is one of the graphical programming languages. Using the application software implemented by the LabVIEW, we were able to design a proper reference signal which is suitable for target cable and control not only the arbitrary waveform generator in the signal generation part but alto the digital storage oscilloscope in the signal acquisition part. By using the TFDR real time system with the terminal resistor on the target cable, we carried out load impedance measurement experiments. The experimental results showed that the proposed system are able not only to detect the location of impedance discontinuity on the cable but also to estimate the load resistance with high accuracy.
This study was performed as part of a research project aimed at developing an ultrasonic computed tomography (CT) system of wood for field application. In this reports, we investigate the variation of wave velocities on the cross section of real size wooden structural member to confirm the reason of image distortion on CT image of wood, and then proposed a new image reconstruction method by considering the velocity variation on wood cross section. First of all, the effect of wood anisotropy on ultrasonic velocities of wooden members was investigated. Based on the relationship between ultrasonic velocity and annual ring angle, which was obtained from test results of small clear specimens, ultrasonic velocities of each measuring angle were predicted. Next, they were compared with the ultrasonic velocities measured on five wood disks. There were very large differences between predicted and measured results, thought to be caused by the skewing effect of ultrasound and the presence of juvenile-wood. Based on these findings, a new method was proposed to reconstruct cross-sectional image of wood. By using this method, some distortions on reconstructed images could be removed, and defects were more easily and clearly detected. The minimum size of detectable defect was decreased remarkably, from 33 mm to 13 mm. However, the size of the detected defect was enlarged and the position somewhat shifted to the specimen surface on the CT images, which was also thought to be caused by the skewing effect of ultrasound. Additional research has been planned to solve these problems.
A nascent membrane was prepared by using the solution evaporation method with a solution of sPEEK, EdAn (cross-linking reagent), and PEA (grafting reagent) in DMAc. Then, after the imination and sulfonation process the cross-linked and grafted ion-exchange membrane, CG-sPEEK, was obtained. The sulfonation and imination reactions were confirmed by FTIR analysis. In order to evaluate the possibility of prepared membrane for the use of an ion-exchange membrane in PEMFC, proton conductivity, water uptake and volume change were measured and compared with a commercial membrane, Nafion 115. It was revealed that since the proton conductivity (0.17 S/cm) of prepared membrane were much higher than those of Nafion 115 (0.10 S/cm) the prepared membrane could be used for the ion-exchange membrane in PEMFC. However, the high water uptake (130%) of CG-sPEEK should be reduced for the dimension stability.

Recently, people seek to recognize organizationally and cross sectionally the period work of a company such as manufacturing, retail, distribution, accounting, and personnel management in order to maximize company profit. Also, the ERP system, which is used as a management concept for plan management designed to optimize the utilization of management resources in an enterprise like manner, has been introduced for the same purpose. This study has examined the ERP system, which has been currently set up, for the parent company, S. The study has evidentially analyzed the system efficiency and satisfaction level of customers by examining implementation effects after onsite application and by seeking ways of improvement after recognizing the difficulty linked with use discovered after onsite application of the system and rejection by customers by conducting a questionnaire survey.
A cross-flow fan is widely used on many industrial fields: a blower for the general industry, mining industry, automobile and home appliances. The design point of the cross-flow fan is generally chosen by based on the region within low static pressure and high flow rate. It relatively makes high dynamic pressure at low speed because a working fluid passes through an impeller blade twice. However, it has low static pressure efficiency between $30\%$ and $40\%$ because of relative high impact loss. Recently, in the air-conditioning systems, the operating behaviors at the off-design points are highly regarded to broaden the application area for various air-cooling loads. Especially, at the low flow rate, there exists a rapid pressure head reduction, a noise increase and an irregular flow against a rearguider as a scroll of centrifugal fan. Numerical analyses are carried out for cross-flow fan including the impeller, the rearguider and the stabilizer. Numerical domains are discretized by hexahedral cells. Three-dimensional, unsteady governing equations are solved using FVM, SIMPLE algorithm, sliding grid system and standard k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model.

Especially, various types of rearguiders are estimated by numerical and experimental methods to insure the stable operation in the region of lower flow rate. Numerical domains are discretized by hexahedral cells. Three-dimensional, unsteady governing equations are solved using FVM, PISO algorithm, sliding grid system and standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. ASHRAE standard fan tester is also used to estimate the performance of the modeled crossflow fan.

In a resource-limited wireless communication environment, various approaches to meet the ever growing application requirements in an efficient and transparent manner, are being researched and developed. Amongst many approaches, cross layer technique is by far one of the significant contributions that has undoubtedly revolutionized the way conventional layered architecture is perceived. In this paper, we propose a Universal Cross Layer Framework based on vertical layer architecture. The primary contribution of this paper is the functional architecture of the vertical layer which is primarily responsible for cross layer interaction management and optimization. The second contribution is the use of optimization cycle that comprises awareness parameters collection, mapping, classification and the analysis phases. The third contribution of the paper is the decomposition of the parameters into local and global network perspective for opportunistic optimization. Finally, we have shown through simulations how parameters' variations can represent local and global views of the network and how we can set local and global thresholds to perform opportunistic optimization.
