Recognition of real time locations of crews for a naval ship is important, not only for the operation efficiency but also for the safety of onboard crews in the ship. More than 100 crews are dwelling in a modem naval ship and they are involved in various duties. Moreover many visitors come in and out frequently while the ship is moored in a harbor. It sometimes requires considerable time and efforts to find a person for urgent mission. It would enhance the operational efficiency if locations of onboard crews are recognized and monitored in real time. An active type RFID tag, which has a specific ID number, is distributed to each crew member, which should be carried during his stay in the ship. A number of fixed type RFID readers are to be located at the major passages of the ship, which are connected to the main computer via Local Area Network. The location of a crew would be identified by the ID number of his RFID tag and the location of the RFID reader which detected the RFID tag. A middleware is needed to process the collected data in the main computer. The data is fed to application softwares, which actually display locations of the concerned crews. The software is coded using GUI (Graphic User Interface) for better user friendliness, which has the function of storing the location history of a crew, and sending warning messages to appropriate persons, if unallowable behavior is detected. An auxiliary naval ship is selected for an experimental application study of the proposed system. It turns out that the required budget and time for the realization of the system is within the allowable limits. But complementary measures to protect the privacy of onboard crews should be considered and adopted, before the application of the system is realized.
Most of existing routing methods in wireless sensor networks to counter the local eavesdropping-based packet-tracing deal with a single asset and suffer from the packet-delivery latency as they prefer to take a separate path of many hops for each packet being sent. Recently, the author proposed a routing method, GSLP-w(GPSR-based Source-Location Privacy with crew size w), that enhances location privacy of the packet-originating node(i.e., active source) in the presence of multiple assets, yet taking a path of not too long. In this paper, we present a refined routing(i.e., next-hop selection) procedure of it and empirically study privacy strength and delivery latency with varying the crew size w(i.e., the number of packets being sent per path). It turns out that GSLP-w offers the best privacy strength when the number of packets being sent per path is randomly chosen from the range [$1,h_{s-b}/4$] and that further improvements on the privacy are achieved by increasing the random walk length TTLrw or the probability prw that goes into random walk(where, $h_{s-b}$ is the number of hops of the shortest path between packet-originating node s and sink b).
In wireless sensor networks, a node that reports information gathered from adjacent assets should relay packets appropriately so that its location context is kept private, and thereby helping ensure the security of the assets that are being monitored. Unfortunately, existing routing methods that counter the local eavesdropping-based tracing deal with a single asset, and most of them suffer from the packet-delivery latency as they prefer to take a separate path of many hops for each packet being sent. In this paper, we propose a routing method, greedy perimeter stateless routing-based source-location privacy with crew size w (GSLP-w), that enhances location privacy of the packet-originating node (i.e., active source) in the presence of multiple assets. GSLP-w is a hybrid method, in which the next-hop node is chosen in one of four modes, namely greedy, random, perimeter, and retreat modes. Random forwarding brings the path diversity, while greedy forwarding refrains from taking an excessively long path and leads to convergence to the destination. Perimeter routing makes detours that avoid the nodes near assets so that they cannot be located by an adversary tracing up the route path. We study the performance of GSLP-w with respect to crew size w (the number of packets being sent per path) and the number of sources. GSLP-w is compared with phantom routing-single path (PR-SP), which is a notable routing method for source-location privacy and our simulation results show that improvements from the point of the ratio of safety period and delivery latency become significant as the number of source nodes increases.
The highest priority of the cruise trip is the safety and comfort of its passengers. Though the cruise lines take every appropriate measure to ensure that their Passengers are safe and experience enjoyable vacations it is hard to fulfill all passenger's personnel requirement with limited number of crews. Generally, each passenger is issued an identification card which contains their digital photo and personal identification information on a magnetic strip that he or she must present when entering or leaving the ship. This technology allows the ship to know which Passengers and crew members are on board and which are not. However, this system has some limitations of functions and usage. To support each passenger as his or her personal liking, additional number of crews or some kind of new system is needed. In this paper, the crew support system based on sensor network using wireless and wired communication technologies was studied. To design the system, PLC(Power Line Communication) system and ZigBee based passenger location recognition, classification system has studied experimentally. By using this system, crews can serve passengers more closely and personally with less effort.
The proposed application design for emergency medical system includes the functions that help securing the window of opportunity for the patients in an emergency situation and efficiently link rescue agency, emergency medical treatment center and patients together. First, the treatment time can be saved at the emergency room by understanding the patient's condition by entering his/her health information such as anamnesis, family history, social history and blood type together with an identification number. Also, if the siren function which signals whereabouts of patients to the rescue crew is used, it will be much easier to find the location of the patient in need. The design allows rescue crew to call the patient to check whether he/she is conscious or not. Just by receiving the call, he/she will be deemed conscious.
GSLP-$\omega$ (GPSR-based Source Location Privacy with crew size $\omega$)를 제안한다.
This paper is the result of a comparative analysis of crew members' workloads using the EMG and OWAS methods according to the fishing process before and after the improvement of the operating system of the experimental vessel, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and safety work of coastal improved stow net fishing vessels. The target crew members were three people with at least five years of experience on board the same fishing vessel as the experimental vessel. After improving the operating system, such as installing a power block crane and two capstans, change the location of the ball-roller, the time required for setting and hauling work decreased (p < .01), and the evaluation results by OWAS showed that the overall workload for setting and hauling net work decreased. The results of muscle activity analysis showed a decrease in lashing anchor work (p < .01) in the case of hauling net and in anchor dropping work in the case of setting net (p < .001). It is judged that the use of ball rollers in net handling has been reduced; consequently, work safety has been improved.
