In this report, the creep properties and creep life estimation by Larson-Miller Parameter(LMP) Method for 2.25Cr1Mo steel to be used as power plant tubes or other components were presented at the high temperatures of 500, 550, and $600^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed experimentally and quantitatively that a creep life estimation equation at such various high temperatures was well derived by LMP and could be used very effectively within the creep life of 10$^3$ hours, but very unreliable and even dangerous for design in a long term of creep life such as 10$^4$ or $10^5$ hours.
In designing the prestressed concrete box-bridge, the dead load, prestressing force, creep and shrinkage of concrete are the main factors which influence the camber and deflection of segmental concrete structure under construction. Among these factors the creep and shrinkage are the functions of the time-dependent property which, therefore, must be considered with time. The prediction model for estimating creep and shrinkage of concrete has been suggested by ACI, CEB/FIP, JSCE and KSCE design code and EMM, AEMM, RCM, IDM and SSM has been suggested for analytical method in consideration of the time-dependent characteristics. In this study, the creep test was carried out for four curing ages of concrete which were applied to the prestressed concrete structure at a construction site, and the results of test were compared to the values of creep prediction by the design code. Also the creep test of step-wise incremental stresses were performed and were compared to analytical methods.
It has recently been raised main issue how solve the problem of insufficient energy. One of the solution is to increase the thermal efficiency of power generation system. For the purpose of high efficiency, it is necessary to increase the steam temperature and pressure. So, the use of modified $9{\sim}12%Cr$ steel having superior creep rupture strength and oxidation resistance is required to endure such severe environment. The evaluation of creep properties of those heat resistance material is very important to secure the reliability of high temperature and pressure structural components. Since creep properties are determined by microstructural change such as carbide precipitation and coarsening, It is certain that there are some relationship between creep properties and hardness affected by microstructure. In this study, SP-Creep ruptured test for newly developed 9Cr steel being used as boiler valve material was performed, and creep properties of the material were evaluated. Also, hardness test were performed and hardness results were related to the creep properties such as LMP and creep strength to verify the availability of SP-Creep test as creep test method.
New procedure for evaluation of creep reduction factor using performance limit strain concept was introduced and confirmed through the creep test results. To determine the performance limit strain of the textile geogrid used in this study, the Sherby-Dorm Plots were applied and the results were compared with the results that applied existed limit strain criteria (GRI test method GG-4). The limit creep strain of the geogrid samples that determined by using the Sherby-Dorm Plots were all 11%. This value is more higher than the existed criteria as 10%. From this 11% limit strain the creep reduction factors were calculated at 100,000 hours design. It was resulted in 1.45 for all of the geogrid samples(8t/m, 10t/m). Finally, when it was compared with the creep reduction factors that using 10% criteria, there were some decrease of reduction factor values about $0.06{\sim}0.14$.
Ni-base superalloy Haynes 282 was developed as a gas turbine material for use in the ultra-super-critical stage (USC) of next-generation coal-fired power plants. Temperatures in the USC stage exceed $700^{\circ}C$ during operation. In spite of its important role Haynes 282 in increasing the performance of high-pressure turbines, as a result of its high-temperature capability, there is little information on the microstructure, deformation mechanism, or mechanical properties of the cast condition of this alloy. The aim of present study is to examine the creep properties of cast alloy and compare with wrought alloy. The ${\gamma}^{\prime}-precipitates$ were coarsen with the increase of aging time ranging from 8 to 48 hrs. A creep test performed at $750^{\circ}C$ showed faster minimum creep rate and shorter rupture lifetime with the aging time. A creep test performed showed only a slight difference in the rupture life between cast and wrought products. Based on the creep test results, the deformation mechanism is discussed using fractographs.
To develop creep resistant die-cast Mg alloys, various alloying elements, including Ca, Ce, and Sr, were added to a Mg-Al alloy. The AXE710 alloy was produced on a 320 ton high-pressure die casting machine. The microstructure and creep properties of the alloy were examined. The creep behavior was investigated at $150^{\circ}C$ for stresses ranging from 50 to 100 MPa. The stress exponent was derived from the relationship between normalized secondary creep rates and compensated effective stresses. It was found to be 4.9, indicating that the dislocation climb is a dominant creep mechanism.
In this study, with the view to using effectively small and medium diameter Korean domestic woods as structural materials, cross-laminated woods were manufactured by using six species of Korean domestic softwoods and hardwoods, and bending creep properties were investigated for each species. The creep curves showed the shape of the exponential function plot, and the creep curves after 1 hour were able to estimate by fitting it to the power law. The initial and creep compliances of cross-laminated woods showed the higher values in wood species with a low density than in that with a high density. And by cross-laminating, the initial and creep compliances perpendicular to the grain considerably decreased, the extent of the decrease was found to be greater in creep deformation than in initial deformation. The creep anisotropies of cross-laminated woods were considerably decreased by cross-laminating. The relative creep of $C_{\bot}$ type composed of perpendicular-direction lamina in the faces decreased 0.59 - 0.64 times compared to that of $P_{\bot}$ type composed of perpendicular-direction laminae in all layers, and that for $C_{\parallel}$ type composed of parallel-direction laminae in the faces increased 1.5 - 1.6 times compared to that of $P_{\parallel}$ type composed of parallel-direction laminae in all layers.
Modern technological progress demands the use of materials at high temperature and high pressure. One of the most critical factors in considering such applications-perhaps the most critical one-is creep behavior. In this study the activation energy for the creep rupture (Qf) and the stress dependence of rupture time (n') have been determined during creep of Al 7075 alloy eve, the temporature range of $200^{\circ}C to 500^{\circ}C$ and stress range of 0.64 kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ to 9.55 kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$, respectively, in order to investigate the creep-rupture property. Constant load creep tests were carried out in the enperiment At around the temperature $210^{\circ}C~390^{\circ}C$ and the stress level 1.53~9.55(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the stress dependence of rupture time(n') had the value of 6.6~6.78 but at 50$0^{\circ}C$, the value of 1.3. Besides at around the temperature of $200^{\circ}C~500^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 0.89~8.51 (kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the activation energy for the creepprupture (Qf) was nearly equal to that of the volume self diffusion of pure aluminum (34Kca1/mo1e)
Violin bridge blank cut from maple wood with good quality has typical pattern of the radial direction in the side edge with minimal dispersion. This experimental study was designed and carried out to examine the effect of the physical and macroscopical characteristics on the compressive creep of violin bridge blank which had been imported from European manufacturer. This research arose from the idea that the maple solid wood with heterogeneous wood density and ray direction in the side edge would have uneven rheological property of violin bridge blank which is supposed to be pressed by the tension of strings. Experimentally, the compressive creep of bridge blank became smaller with the higher density of imported maple wood and showed clear density-dependence for the duration of load under the string tension of 5 kgf. Every bridge blank showed the behavior of primary creep stage(stress stabilization) having logarithmic regression creep curve with high correlation coefficient under the designed stress level. Even though the relationship between compressive creep and ray direction on the side edge of bridge was not so clear contrary to expectation, we could conclude that wood density and ray direction should be the quality decisive factors affecting the acoustical characteristics and performance of the bridge, the core member of violin-family bow instruments.
The influence of gamma-irradiation sterilization on the creep and wear performance of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) was investigated by conducting the dynamic compressive creep tests and pin-on-disc sliding wear tests. The changes of microstructure property, relative crystallinity, oxidation index, percent crosslinking, were also measured and the relationship between these and creep and wear results was discussed.
